Large comfortable room. No street noise but walls a bit thin. Approximately 2 blocks from the Atocha Train station and Metro stop. Excellent breakfast was includes in our speacial room package rate. Staff was very helpful, polite and spoke excellent English. There is a small grocery nearby. Would stay here again. Only minor downside-no wash clothes or alarm clock in room.

I booked a double room for 2 nights for 178 euros but when I arrived (with my wife) they told us that there is an extra charge for another person,( I would not book a double room if I was alone), so we paid 198 euros instead of 178 euros. And they are very rude when I questioned it. I will never stay in this hotel again nor recommend it. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!.Find one along Gran Via or Calle de Alcala.

We were a mature couple travelling with friends, another mature couple. We were very impressed with the value for money we received. Buffet breakfast was brilliant - lots of choice, all very fresh and replenished continually. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel was very convenient for a city break - it was within walking distance of many sights. We would definitely reccommend it to others and we would definitely use Hotel Agumar again.

The hotel was as expected. It's not quite a 4-star hotel - but I'm afraid this is how most 4-stars look like these days. It's reasonably centrally located, clean and quiet - and that's exactly what I needed.

We had a wonderful accomodation at this Hotel. The room was cleaned and peaceful. We had many dinner at the Hotel restaurant and the food was quite tasteful. The Hotel is very close to Atocha Renfe underground station. You can also get The Prado museum on foot because it's in short walking distance. I strongly recomend this Hotel!

Hotel was well located for our main purpose - visiting the Prado and Reina Sofia. Due to a flight schedule change, we had to move from a Friday night stay to a Saturday night stay. Inexplicably, the price went up from 64 euros to 96 euros. No one could explain why. It was a reasonable price to pay and suited our purposes well. But for a longer stay I would have preferred something a bit closer to other parts of Madrid.

The Agumar is a fine price/quality choice for a downtown Madrid stay, especially a short one. From the airport it will cost about E25 on a busy workday to reach it. Metro and Bus service (each requires a transfer)are possible and cheap without large luggage. The bus C1 leaves you off steps from the hotel. The Prado Museum, Reina Sophia Museum, and El Retiro Park are within walking distance, as is the Visit Madrid tour bus (2 routes). While the rate does not include breakfast, there are several reasonable restaurants near the museums, most with 3 course "Menu del Dia" daily meals at E8-12 per person, including a bottle of wine. Rooms are small but clean and modern. A nice Salsa nightclub ("Azucar") adjoins the hotel, yet it does not disrupt the hotel tranquility. We enjoyed the stay before renting a car and traveling to Barcelona.

Very nice stay, and the room was as expected, small but clean. We stayed for 9 days, and would have liked the sheets on the beds changed. New towels every day. The food served in the hotelrestaurant was OK, but did not tingle my tounge, and the selection of wines were small. Our biggest problem was the language. Only 1-2 of the staff spoke english good enough for a Norwegian to understand/to be understood. All in all: We had a nice vacation.

Location still acceptable if you don't mind walking 10 min every time between hotel & Metro; interior decoration a bit old fashion; there is only a glass standing at the edge of the bath tub instead of shower curtain, the floor will be easily get all wet when guest taking shower; using hotel's internet access is pretty expensive; anyway I beleive it still worth to come back if only expecting a room for sleeping during vacation !

The hotel was located in a pleasant area. There is no where to eat near by but it is located close to the renfre station and the Metro. We stayed here twice on our trip, the top floors have much larger bathrooms than the lower floors. The desk staff is only okay. We reserved three rooms under one name and when we arrived they only thought there was one room reserved. After working with the supervisor of the desk staff all of our rooms were provided to us. I would stay here again as it is clean and quiet but it's not beautiful.

Only the lobby is 4Star(****). The rest of the hotel is only 3Star. The room is small and VERY NOISY!!!. The door is like a paper! You hear everything from the floor. The main street is also very noisy. The underground/metro station is 5-minutes-walk far. The breakfast is good.

Hotel was good. It was central to Madrid and within 15 minutes walk to main facilities. The MEtro and mainline station were within easy walking distance. The Metro is a great cheap way to get around. The downside with the hotel was that there were many comings and goings with other visitors, some who were extremely noisy when vacating their rooms in the middle of the night. The walls seemed very thin as conversations could also be heard next door.

Agumar was a little outside of the main centre. It was however in only a 2 minute walk from the nearest Metro station (Atocha RENFE) making it easy for us to get around Madrid. Overall this hotel was excellent value for money only paying 70 Euro per night. The rooms were spacious and clean, everything you need for a comfortable stay in a fab city!!

When I arrived there, the staff didn't even try to speak English. The room was ok, but the landlady at 5 p.m. still had to clean it! Even after I put the sign on the door, at 3 p.m. the room was untidy!!! One day was cold,13°C, and I asked the staff to switch the heater on. They told me they couldn't, as it was too early (I'm talking about the second week of November). Even when I show them I was pregnant, they just sent to my room 2 extra blankets! The food was incredibly expensive (12,50 without taxes for breakfast), compared to the average prices in Madrid, and the dinner menu didn't have many choices. The hotel doesn't have a shuttle service for the airport, they can only stop a taxi . The only good thing is that it is very close to the Atocha Railways station, and to the Metro, the Prado Museum and Reina Sofia, and the Buen Retiro Park are just 1 km. Agumar is not a 4 star hotel, I would have rated it as a 2 star The only good

Agumar has abdicated to tour companies who have their own tour guides. consequently they are not very good at answering inquiries about restaurants or other things. Hotel is very close to El Prado and Atocha train Station for those who want to make side trips to El Escorial, Avila, Segovia, etc.

The hotel is situated a few hounded meters away from the Atocha railway station and from the underground and is within walking distance from the city center, Retiro park and the Pardo. The room and the bathroom were clean and quite modern. Despite of the fact that the hotel is next to a road with a lot of traffic, we did not have much noise. The price/value ratio is excellent (we paid 65 EUR per night for a double room. We had a pleasant stay at the hotel and can recommend it to others.

The rooms are small, but clean. The hotel location was convenient to the train station, the Park Retiro, The Praada and Reina Sofia Museums, and to the Metro. On our third night the two rooms on our floor had their doors kicked in. One room was unoccupied, the other was as old couple who were robbed of the money in their baggage. The next morning in checking our bags, we found all our clothes rearranged and an envelope torn open in an apparent attempt to find money. Since our door was not damaged, we assume the thieves had an access card. The management was unruffled and nonchalant about the entire incident. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MONEY UNATTENDED ANYWHERE IN SPAIN. IT IS A DEN OF THIEVES. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and ???might consider this Agumar again. The front desk staff could use some traininig in attentiveness, as it was always difficult to get anyone to notice that you were standing directly in front of him/her, and they seemed perpetually busy entering data into the computers.

The Hotel is very close to the Atocha railway station and therefore it is an ideal place for trips to Escorial, Toledo, Segovia etc. Two small notes concerning to buffet style breakfasts: 1. some cups of yogurt were expired. 2. Pastry (cakes, croissants ...) were not too much tasty. But bread and French bread and other offering of breakfast components were fully OK. Only a little more serious problem was with TV. We tried to watch TV news on free channels (CNN), however when we paid the bill, we had to pay for movie on paid channel despite of the fact that we had not chosen this service by means of remote control. We are sure that we did not follow written instructions to chose the paid channel that was at disposal in the room. Either the apparatus worked in wrong way or the written instructions has not corresponded to the reality. This problem was only for the first evening; further five evenings were without payment for paid channels that we had not watched. Despite of the reproaches described above we can reccommend this hotel for a stay in Madrid. We have really enjoyed our stay in Spain, it is interesting Country.
