Wonderful hotel. Very large pool with large locker room and nice gym. Rooms are big but air conditioning is weak. Very good breakfast. Excellent service. Excellent location right on a river. If you have no car, you will have to take bus to town. We had car. 5 minute drive right along the river. Getting lost is impossible. Plenty of parking along the river in town. Buy parking ticket in Parking machines marked "P". Town is great. Not crowded like Paris. Great restaurants paricularly in the old town which is across the river. One big problem is the directions on the Venere web site. They are wrong. I got lost for 45 minutes in Lyon. Upon arrival at hotel, clerk at desk read directions and said, "This is wrong, I don't know this way" So don't follow Venere directions, E mail them for directions. Bottom line, really good place to stay. Parking in front lot is free. Great pool facility, fine rooms and friendly staff. Good location for me. And there was no problems with the reservations we made with Venere. We arrived and our room was ready for us. I highly recommend this hotel and Venere.com.

We got one of their newly remodeled rooms which was very nice. However, they were still doing construction which began at very early hour, and reverberated throughout the entire hotel. Other than that, the staff was competent and professional, and the spa facilities were amazing. Overall, a great stay and a very good value for staying in Lyon.

Ours was an overnight stay,the property is on the outskirts of Lyon,we parked in Hotel space free,note they would charge for covered parking if all open space occupied.The pool is Olympic size & a real pleasure but service with drinks here is poor.Our only real critisism was our bathroom which was small & needs ubdating,but it was clean.If central Lyon were not required we would stay here again.

Standard room was equivalent of a 1-star. Significantly worse than even the cheapest hostels we stayed at on our trip. Threadbare carpet, ancient fixtures, uncomfortable bed, ancient bathroom. Facilities were OK - aging infrastructure. Lobby and staff were amazing and friendly. Not the paradise they make it out to be, more like a hotel that peaked in the early 90's struggling to stay relevant.

Perfect hotel! And with a very good price. The spa is excellent. Perfect for honeymoon! It is a little far from the center, but the hotel offers everything you may need.

We went there for a long weekend and it was a perfect spot. We knew that the weather was not going to be that nice so we looked for a hotel with enough facilities for several indoors activities. You can feel the spa enviroment when you see the amount of guets walking in robes through the bar area. We used the pools, the tennis court and the gym. For the spa activities you need to book them way in advance.

This is an excellent facility, with the use of the spa making it an exceptional value. The three nights for the price of two was a very competitive offering. The location was quiet but it is only a short bus ride (ten minutes) into the center city & Vieux Lyon. The desk personnel were always very helpful and the bar and restaurant help were attentive.

The Metropole seems to have had better years. The rroms are spacious,but the furniture is old and looks wear-out! Is not a good feeling when you feel you're entering into 1972! AND (very important) they didn't turn the A>C on, we complaint many times, but it seems like as asoon as the 100 degrees drops to 89, they turn it off, and no matter what you do, they will not turn it back on. It was unconfortobla. I wouldn't go back. There are very good other Hotels in Lyon, France.

Very helpful staff. Great recreation facilities. The bar area is small and dark, but that was well compensated for by everything else. The hotel is on the very edge of Lyon, but there is a good taxi service and reasonable public transport links into the city.

We were really impressed with the accomodation. We had requested adjoining rooms for ourselves and our 2 children. We actually had interconnecting rooms both ensuite and one with an adjoining sitting room/study area. The hotel was very smart with a lovely restaurant area overlooking the olympic size swimming pool. Although we were only there one night as we were travelling onto to Italy the next day we really did enjoy our stay.

The photos on the website do not do the pool area justice. Truly a beautiful hotel. The staff was very helpful with travel arrangements and reservation changes.
