The silency in the room was very poor. We could hear the voices of the neighbours. Also at night the street was very noisy. The airco didnt work.

Hotel staff were pleasant and efficient, although their interactions with us were impersonal and business-like compared to some other hotels we stayed in, but that's not a complaint, just a description. More importantly, the rooms were comfortable and spacious, and quiet - no noise at all from other rooms or from the street. After a month of travelling it was thrilling to find a huge bath in our private bathroom! The area felt safe to walk around in at night, and it was an easy walk to the old part of town. The buffet breakfast was generous, there was more choice than we could eat - hot food, cereal, pastries, fruit and yoghurt were on offer. Overall, great value for money, and we would be happy to stay there again.

Double room was small but adequate for a weekend stay. Importantly, it was clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Continental breakfast was good value, fresh and of sufficient quantity, though the bacon and eggs were disappointing - not unusual for a European hotel as no one seems quite able to put together eggs and bacon the way we like them in the UK!!! Location of the hotel was perfect for the old town and within easy walking distance of the railway station. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at La Residence for 2 nights. The location was excellent. The rooms were exceptionally spacious compared to 2 & 3 star hotels we have stayed at. The bathroom was modern; the wiring and wifi was very good. We would book there again if returning to Lyon.

This hotel is located along lovery Victory Hugo steet and close to Victor Hugo station(metro). Supermarket Carrefour and McDonald closed to the station were convinient for me. A refrigerator in rhe hotel room was useful.

A first rate hotel at a very good price. The staff were great and the only problem I had was with the breakfast. It is entirely personal but I do not like eating with other people near me. The room is small and laid out so people are always moving close to the table. My problem, like I say.

The hotel is situated in the perfect place for sightseeing and shopping - being right in the middle of a retail walk way in the old part of the city. It is a short walk from tourist areas and sightseeing; as well as underground train stations.

Hotel situated Ideally only minutes from Bellecour Plaza from where tour buses, metro etc start. Rivers close. Cobbled streets good as only access traffic passes hotel. Situation quiet if keep double glazed windows closed. Can be a little noisy at night if windows open. Very helpful staff although seem to change most days on a rota. We would return to hotel if/when we return to Lyon. This was our first trip to Lyon which impressed us greatly. VJPB. Perth, Western Austrlia

Very good value, excellent facilities. Given the very cheap fares, I was pleasantly surprised by such a high quality room and bathroom. Highly reccommended, particularly for those wishing to train to/from Lyon Perrache, and those wanting to wander around Vieux Lyon and the entre Isle shopping and nightlife. Very helpful staff at the front desk as well.

Amazing location -- you can walk to the Old City. Shopping and restaurants are close. And the price is extremely reasonable for a big city hotel. We were there three nights and woudl certainly stay there again when we return to Lyon.

definitely a very costly 3-star hotel but you have to take into account that you are in switzerland where everything costs twice as much... enough space for a single traveller... room quite clean... breakfast sufficient... the big advantage is you are right in front of the railway station... it's not the best part of geneva but if you are travelling for business reasons it's all what you need... definitely not apprperiate for couples or families...

Excellent hotel to stay at very close to Bellecour Square and to restaurants and on a pedestrian-only street. Friendly service, clean and comfortable room and very good breakfast. Spacious home-like entry area with a free PC to check emails. Other travellers were of various age groups. A downside was the street work going on outside our window from 7 am but that was not the hotel's doing. We would happily stay again.

We stayed in a triple which was spacious, but nothing like the picture on the web page. The location was good -- close to restaurants and shops -- but parking was a bit of an issue. The hotel is on a walking street surrounded by many one-way streets, so finding it and getting checked in with several pieces of luggage wasn't very easy. We got in late, so we ended up driving on the walking street, unloading our luggage, and then driving several blocks away to park the car.

Great location! The hotel is OK but avoid both brasseries in Place Belcourt, namely Espaces and Cafe Belcourt. Particularly, the second one is really bad in terms of menu and quality of food. I had there one of their suggestions on the menu (for 14 euro!) but could not eat anything but the potatoes. There are (many) better places to eat on Rue de la Republique or Old City (e.g. Rue St. Jean or Rue de Boeuf) so avoid these traps...

If you are looking for a good location and you do not plan on spending much time in your room, this is where you want to stay. We walked or took the metro everywhere we wanted to visit. We arrived by plane, so know nothing about the parking situation. We were in the quadruple room for two nights. My kids were thrilled to find bunk beds! We were thrilled that there was a door between the rooms. There was a large spa bathtub (but only hand held shower). Breakfast had a good variety to please the whole family. On the negative side, the beds were very uncomfortable (normal French hotel beds), the pillows paltry and there was running water noise in the walls (just closed the door to shut out noise).

Right in the middle of the city - beautiful, on a mainly pedestrian street. Parking was a little far away - we prefered the street parking nearby. Our room, right above the street where there was construction, was amazingly quiet. Charming hotel and free internet. Nice breakfast offering, laundry nearby, ironing available downstairs. Definitely metropolitan - beautiful old building, charming city.

This hotel is amazing. It's very centrally located, by the metro stop Place Bellcoeur. Despite being in the city it's fairly quiet when the windows are closed. I've stayed here twice because I absolutely adore it. The only negative thing is the elevator is kind of creepy, but really, it's not a big deal. The staff was always extremely nice and helpful. J'aimais cet hôtel. Il était en ordre et le personnel était sympa. Ils m'aidaient beaucoup. Je vous conseille de rester a La Résidence. Our welcome at reception was rather offhand but check out was quick and easy. The room was spacious but rather dingy. The en-suite shower was clean and modern but the separate toilet would have been improved with a hand basin. Breakfast was plentiful and the service was friendly. The city centre location on a pedestrianised street was within easy walking distance of Gare Lyon Perrache, local shops and restaurants and Vielle Lyon. The only downside of the location was that it was a little noisy late at night and early in the morning. Overall a reasonable hotel for the price.
