This is a backpackers' hotel. Clean, basic & incredibly cheap. They make their money by selling tours, but they're not pushy about it. They can organise any imaginable trip. The family own the restaurant next door, where the food is OK, not brilliant. Rooms above the restaurant are noisy at night, if this sort of thing bothers you (I sleep like a log). Very central: on one side of the hotel is Luxor Temple, on the other is the souk (market), so you are not at all insulated from the local traders. Expect to be hassled to buy stuff every 15 seconds by the most aggressive salesmen in Egypt (also amongst the poorest), starting 50 feet from the hotel door, in any direction, constantly, until you return. Including in the temples ("good photograph" etc). This isn't the hotel's fault, but you are right in the middle of it. No luxuries, no frills, good for seasoned travellers aged 15-60.

Well, with the price it is good(I paid 23 euros for double room). But on the back of the room (I stayed in the room 108),it is the very noisy street with the cafeteria till the midnight. The shower curtain is durty. You have to remember it is the ecomonmy hotel and no more than that. And also remember that the restaurant is very expensive(40 0 50 EL for the main plate).

The only problem is the noise from the Shesha cafe on the street behind the hotel and it must be the most popular one in town. It gets very busey and loud as the evening gets late. The cafe doesn't close till 2 a.m. and they get everything put away and the doors closed by 3 a.m.

Not sure if my ratings are accurate there - some of the questions I didn't really know how to answer. Overall we were very happy with our stay here. We were pleasantly surprised with the room it was very nice and clean. Some noise outside during the night (restaurant noise) but really not bad. The hostel also has a restaurant right outside where we had dinner. It was very nice, great food, atmosphere and service. The staff were also very genuine and helpful.

Rooms above restaurant, cafés and shops make it noisy. Good for young people who need more entertainmlent than good sleeping. Staff very nice. Hotel very close to Temple and souk.

We made a reservation for two rooms with bathroom, one double and another one single, but the single room had not got a bathroom. It was a very small toilet mith a "shower" on the wc.But the views from the top of the hotel are beautiful and the restaurant in the street, in the bazaar, is very cheap and nice.

The hotel receptionist Mr Mohamed was extremely genuine, kind and very helpful without pressurising us to o on their tours and made our stay very welcoming and pleasant. Generally the hotel is very nice, with roof terace, but the bathroom taps and toilet leak needs to be fixed and rustly shower pan. This could be that we were unlucky to get that room

Imagine a budget hotel in the heart of Luxor, with rooftop views of the Avenue of Sphinxes, and Deir-el-Medina some 6km away on the West Bank across the Nile (the latter admittedly with binoculars). Imagine that this budget hotel is characterful, with friendly, helpful, intelligent and hardworking staff. Imagine further that the bedding and towels are changed daily, that the rooms are cleaned daily, and that the hotel corridors and rooftop patio are cleaned daily. Imagine that Luxor temple, its souk and a number of decent restaurants (including the hotel's own) are on your doorstep. Imagine that you can book the hotel directly through Venere. Imagine that its only drawbacks are typically budget hotel: the less salubrious rooms have cracked walls, peeling ceilings, wobbly toilets and hot and cold running water (but not both). Imagine this, and you have the Nefertiti. And, whatever you can afford, you would be a fool not to consider it as your base in Luxor.

First time in Luxor. Very helpful staff, property clean, convenient location, fantastic value for money. Included (cold) breakfast was excellent. Hotel restaurant provided excellent lunch and dinner.

The staff was extremely useful and welcoming. It was like reaching an oasis in chaotic luxor. As a single woman traveling alone, Luxor could be quite a challenge, with regards to hassle and arrangements and the staff at the hotel was very useful and friendly and helpful.

Needed to stay in Luxor for a month for research on a budget and was delighted with my choice of the Nefertiti Hotel. My room was large, cheerful, very clean, and air conditioned – a must in July. The staff was great! They went beyond just being helpful in arranging tours and house keeping, they actually helped guests with a wide range of problems, from ironing out travel snafu’s to helping with personal issues of sickness with genuine concern. Their new restaurant opened while I was there. The portions are large, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious! The Nefertiti is truly a great value. I plan to visit Luxor again in the future and the Nefertiti will definitely be my first choice of places to stay.
