Palace Hotel do Bussaco is surrounded by a spectacular and serene landscape, in the heart of 105 hectare of virgin forest, composed of rare trees and exotic plants of exquisite beauty, many brought back to Bussaco at the time of the early Portuguese colonial explorations.

It's a quiet place off the beaten path, but if you're a fan of Manueline architecture or really ugly azulejos this place is for you. Its a bit worn and old style - but for the price, the staff and the grounds its a great place to stay, relax and see the area. Dining could cost you more than your room so you may want to go to Luso, but the food and service are very good. There's no mistaking you're in Portugal when you stay here.

This hotel is lovely, with old world charm yet offering modern conveniences. Our room was huge with five lovely windows which overlooked the forest and surroundings. It was a pleasure to sleep with them wide open. The only downside was the age of the furniture, not quite old enough to be antique or young enough to be comfortable. The bed however was comfortable and overall it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is a bit pricey in comparision to some of the same charm which I have had the pleasure to stay at.

The trip I did it with my wife, my father-in-law and my sister-in-law, it was the first time that we go to a hotel of 5 stars and us much pleased the palace, the interior decoration and the environment. Since the trip was in December there was no many occupation in the hotel. The marvellous breakfast.

El Hotel y el entorno son maravillosos pero la habitaciones necesitan una reforma total (conservando el encanto de los muebles antiguos) así como los baños, también es necesario insonorizar la habitaciones. El servicio es atento pero hay escasez de personal siendo lentísimo el servicio de bar en el salón. El balance es positivo pese a todo.
