Welcome in Origlio, Italian charm, delightful lakes and subtropical gardens - the Ticino region offers all this and more, at all times of the year. Nestling in the quiet Valle Capriasca is the Origlio Hotel & Country Club, the little lake, with riding stables and golf just around the corner. A beautiful garden surrounds the hotel. Our little island of shelter and repose is situated only kilometers away from the throbbing pulse of time.
Tennis courts, boccia alley and golf practice corner invite to sporting activity. Mountain bikes and excursions by boat are just as important in contributing to the holiday experience as simply doing nothing.

You can do much better in the Lugano area than to stay at the Origlio "Country Club" and Hotel! We just returned from two nights there at a rate of SF296 per night (and would have left after one except for the poor weather where we were going next). -- Their website and promotional materials are very misleading. They imply they are way out in the country, with golf and tennis and horseback riding right there. Wrong! There are two nice tennis courts and two pools, but the "golf" is a 20X40' miniature golf putting surface that hasn't been active in some time. There certainly were no horses to be seen or any other sports. The entire property is probably less than one acre in size (we tried to go out walking and had to walk along the local highway rather than around their grounds.) -- They are not tourist-friendly. We were greeted by a Germanic desk clerk who, when we inquired how to operate the air conditioning controls, told us that the hotel had set the temperature at the "proper level" and we didn't need to operate any controls. -- The restaurant caters to groups, not individuals. We were given a back table the first night. The second night we booked and came early -- first in the restaurant in fact. We asked for tables by the windows or in the front room. No they said, "we reserve those for the people who were at them before. You were in the back before. You have to stay in the back room!" The menu was the same both nights, although they had run out of the meal the waiter suggested. Service was abominably slow both nights because there were too many people for the few number of over-worked waiters. -- The rooms would be OK for a budget or mid-level US motel. But certainly not for a "4-Star" hotel. The only good word that I can offer is that a different desk clerk was very helpful when our rental car broke down before leaving on the last day.

By car
Coming from the north: on the highway A2, take the exit Rivera, direction Lugano. Take the turn to Origlio in Taverne and follow the signs.
Coming from the south: on the highway A2, take the exit Lugano direction Vezia, after Manor follow the direction Origlio. Turn left to the hotel after about 1.5km.

METHODS OF PAYMENT
Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. It is not possible to cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a room indicated as "PREPAID/NOT REFUNDABLE". In this case, the total amount of your stay will be charged to your credit card by the hotel at the time of booking.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
Check-in: the rooms are available from 2 p.m. We kindly ask our guests, if at all possible, to arrive at the hotel not later than 10 p.m. By arrival after that time, please call the hotel.
Check-out: it is necessary to leave the rooms not later than noon.
INCLUDED/NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
The breakfast buffet is included in the price.
There is free parking available in the parking lot, parking in the garage costs CHF 20,00 daily and advance booking is kindly requested.
The shuttle service from and to the Lugano railroad station and the airport Lugano-Agno is included in the price - advance booking is kindly requested.
The use of the swimming pools, the sauna and the fitness room is included in the price.
