Hotel De la Paix - Lugano

The hotel is ok but the French language, TV (only one channel and the TV5 international), Papers are missing. The only language spoken are italian, a lot of German and a little English, sad when you think you are in a country where the second language is French. Apart from this it should be mentioned that no company animals are welcomed. We had to give our quiet little dog to some friends for two nights...

The four star rating is well deserved. We did not eat in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was very decent. We have stayed there on a previous occasion as part of a small tour. We saw a couple of groups of 15 to 20 (mature) people which was not to the detriment of other guests. Efficient and quiet air conditioning system. We will come back as we had a very pleasant stay.

The room was good but the mattress was too hard,I did not sleep well

Further than indicated on website (at least 10 mins to walk to the centre), no friendly service and very poor breakfast buffet. Definetly nothing for young couples, mainly elder people, business-oriented

Hotel was under construction, and the view of the lake was interrupted by a crane at another nearby construction site. Otherwise a nice hotel. Not as indicated on the map. It is close to the funicular that goes to Mount San Salvatore.

There was scaffolding around the building I was not informed off. Easy to imagine "Lake view" room looses its appeal, right?

I really enjoyed it too much, so queit area and nice people.

The check-out was poor: they asked a higher price than agreed by internet, but when we showed the reservation print-out they accepted but in a very unprofessional and unpolite way. An unpleasant end of nice overall stay!

The Hotel de la Paix is unpretentious and charming. The room was very pretty. The breakfast buffet and service was excellent; the dining room staff personable and helpful and the food was very good. My only complaint would be that the switchboard had trouble with the delivery of messages. The concierge was very helpful both before and after our arrival, aiding in getting us picked up in Milan and delivered to the hotel. I qould happily stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at De la Paix. Our room had a balcony with a beautiful lake view. Breakfast was fresh and generous. The staff answered our every question and were always gracious and helpful. The service was very personal: when Daniele at reception learned we had gotten engaged on Monte Tamaro, we came home to a personal note and package in the afternoon. We enjoyed the 15 minute walk "lungo lago" (along the lake) into the center and sometimes treated ourselves to the short taxi ride. We were in Lugano the weekend of the "Festa d'Autunno", which we would highly recommend, but we were very happy to be at peaceful De la Paix and not in the middle of town with all the around-the-clock noise. Highly recommended! Next time we'll come when we can enjoy the pool.
