Hotel Zum Weissen Kreuz - Lucerne

Excellant location; friendly and helpful staff. Small rooftop terrace a pleasant place for a glass of wine w/ a view of Mt Pilatus! Very nice breakfast; good pizza, too! Next to river w/ all sidewalk cafes and in midst of the lovely old city. Would stay again!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We found the hotel do be excellent ! The staff was friendly,knowledgeable and enthusiastic about helping us make decisions regarding tours etc. The rooms were small (the norm in Europe)but clean and no detail was overlooked by the staff. Internet was easy to connect to. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to all sights and great restaurants and shopping:-)

I got a room that was REALLY tiny. But the real bad thing about this room was its position on the first floor just above the pizzereria (on ground floor) and the chimney of the pizza oven heated the wall of the room to almost 35 Celsius, even if both windows were opened al the time (very small windows) and outside temperature was around 15 Celsius and raining. There was no aircondition in this room, only a ventilator, that distributed the hot air in the room and contributed to the overall noise. It was very noisy from the outside as well. On the other side of the street (Gaesschen, very small street only 2 meters wide at maximum) construction work was done, that started at 5:30 in the morning starting clinking and clanking and hammering with many different machines, the city authorities of lucerne (must be lunatics there) repaired the pedestrian walkways in overnight activities starting at 20:00 with an air-pressure hammer, stopping only at about 3:30 in the morning. It was horrible, I could not sleep at all this night. The night staff could not provide another room (for whatever reason), so I had to wait until next day to get another room fixed. I would never recommend to visit this "baking oven", not even in winter. Pizzeria is open from morning until midnight, the wall of the very old house is almost one meter thick, so it stores and accumulates the heat very well.

Our room was quite small, but sufficiently clean and comfortable. No noise at night, since our window was over a narrow road situated in the old center of the town, without any kind of traffic. Breakfast had'nt a big variety of food, but for us it was sufficient for quality and quantity.

Our small family really loved this Hotel. Great location and our suite had a roof terrace with table and chairs. If you are a tall person the sloping wall in the shower could be a problem. The lift only goes to level 4, as we were on level 5 we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs to the next level. Not really a problem for us but maybe for some people with a lot of heavy luggage. We walked from the train station over the bridge and along the river - about 10 - 15 minute stroll. Overall a great place to stay and would recommend it.

Our experience at this hotel was excellent. The staff was exceptionally kind and courteous. The rooms, while not huge, were very comfortable and modern. The location is great; about a 5 minute walk from the train station and right on the lake, close to lots of nice shops, restaurants and local attractions. The hotel restaurant was a bit pricey, but overall, our stay was teriffic and I absolutely recommend this hotel!

Stayed on the third floor in room no 304. It has a king size bed (two mattresses), desk plus chair, wardrobe, etc and a small bathroom (one person at a time). Despite that the room was convenient for our weekend long city trip being at the heart of the old town, 5min away from train station, etc. A bit noisy at night if window left opened, otherwise peaceful. Loved Luzern and the hotel.

Wonderful location. Easy walk to everything. Good restaurants nearby. Good recommendations by the staff. Rooms are small, but we were out and about, so no problem. Would go back.

Excellent location in the old town, tiny rooms & bathrooms, cheap quality bed, horrible pillows, usual breakfast, very polite housekeeping staff, no private parking-so add CHF 20/per day to the cost of a hotel for a public parking (7-10 min. walking).

This hotel was very well located to the train station and major attractions. It was one of the better priced hotels (Swiss hotels in general are more expensive than most countries we have visited) for its location in Old Town, Lucerne, Switzerland. The accommodations in themselves were fine, very clean, and brightly appointed though somewhat compact. When we stayed here, we were at the end of a three week stay in Switzerland and ready for some quiet rest. Old Town is beautiful, and is lively on Saturday nights with many places to eat and drink. The World Cup Soccer matches had the whole town cheering. I would choose this hotel again, but would ask for an inner room away from the perfectly normal joyful sounds of nightlife, or show up at the beginning of a vacation. Breakfast was good in a pleasant setting, and the pizza and lasagna served in the Italian restaurant the was fabulous.

The hotel was one of the best we stayed in on our 3 week trip. Really enjoyed it.

Well located, with easy walk from train station. Energetic, bright young staff who were very helpful. Attached excellent pizzaria/restaurant. Room was about average size for this price range in Switzerland. Good value for the money in expensive Switerland. Steps from the wonderful river-front, with copious restaurants and sites. Not air conditioned, as are most hotels in this price range, but we were there in Oct, so that was no problem. Disadvantage, not unique to this hotel, is that the church bells ring all night long in Luzern. Bring ear plugs! Overall, a solid value for the money.

Perfectly clean, helpful staff and ideal location for the centre of the old town. Not the quietest place but noise comes from outside as you're in the middle of town. Room a little small but adequate. Decor very modern and comfortable. Would stay there again. Expensive but so is Switzerland!

Totally I could say only good things: excellent location, very nice and guest friendly staff. The room was relatively small but with large terrace. Breakfast is not as I like (no fresh vegetables), but it's a matter of taste and habits

This hotel was 7-10 minutes (walking)from main train station. Excellent location. In the area where it is located there are no cars allowed. The staff was nice and helpful. Even with their broken english, they were able to give us maps, directions and recommendations. People in Lucerne mostly speak german. The hotel is modern and minimalist, but very cozy. The room was nice and modern with enough space to move around. They have an excellent pizza and pasta restaurant at the hotel. No need to leave the hotel for dinner or lunch - if it is too cold outside! There are also various restaurants nearby. I would definitely return to the Zum Weissen Kreuz hotel!

Fantastic location - in the old city, easy walk from the station, right near the bridge.

We had a quadruplicate room and it was rather crowded. It was more suited for a triple room!Breakfast was decent especially compared to otehr Swiss hotels we stayed at. Location was excellent bang in the old town and near the river. Street outside was sometimes noisy due to bars/restaurants (not traffic). Overall: good value for our money.
