Hotel Des Balances - Lucerne

The location can be noisy, and it was hot so windows had to be left open as there is no aircon. The solution was to close the windows and run an electric fan. The hotel is central, chiche, right on the river with excellent food and service

Fabulously convenient location for walking to restaurants, shops & sightseeing. Picturesque riverfront and old city location. We were upgraded to a riverfront room, even though we had booked a cityview room, without even asking. And they did not increase the price. The rooms were huge and spotless. Would definitely stay there again.

We were on our honeymoon. Pay for the river view as it is worth it, the Jesuit Church is directly across the river and the mountains are beautiful. The room we had 406 and it was decent sized. It is about a 10-15 min walk towing luggage from the train station. The bar staff was very friendly and the front desk staff was also helpful. We have no hesistation recommending this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel twice. The rooms are newly remodeled and huge with large flat screen tvs. There is a balacony with views of the river. The restaurant is excellent as is the nearby Thai Garden Restaurant. I love this darling hotel with the frescos painted on the front!

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at, but it was worth it. The location is excellent and our room was facing the river, so it was great for taking pictures. However, not sure I would want to pay as much for a room without a view. Excellent breakfast that came with the room. Well located. Efficient staff, English not a problem. Highly recommended.

Yes, it was the first time.

We stayed at des Balances for our 10th anniversary. We were as pleased with this visit as we were with our first one three years ago. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk away from the train station, right on the river. The train ride from Zurich airport takes less than an hour. A taxi with our luggage cost 20 CHF so we walked on our way back! Check in was smooth and the staff were very pleasant - the only unusual thing was no one asked to assist us with our luggage. We had a beautiful junior suite with a river view (Rm 103). It was very large and immaculate, with modern furnishings and wood floors. There was a large bathtub/whirlpool in the room itself, with a separate shower and toilet. There was a large balcony with a small table - the view was simply spectacular. The town, river and Mount Pilatus were clearly visible. The hotel's breakfast was outstanding and sitting outside right next to the river is hard to beat. They had a delicious assortment of cold cuts, yogurt, breads, cereals and juices for 14 CHF. If you want eggs or other items from the kitchen, it increases the price to 27 CHF. We did not try the restaurant for dinner this time, although last time it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and recommended Taube and Fritschi for examples of restaurants with local food. Both were very good and reasonably priced. The hotel is ideally located, with several shops and restaurants nearby. The lake/center of town is only a 5 minute walk away. Lucerne is a gorgeous town not to be missed. Hotel des Balances is THE place to stay.

I have always loved this hotel & to find it on your website at such a good rate is a wonderful surprise. The location is superb; you can walk everywhere. The restaurant is excellent & a gorgeous spot for dining with a mountain/lake view. They made my little one feel like a princess & didn't charge for the privilege. The rooms are designed beautifully & very spacious; we were lucky enough to have a lake & mountain view which was breathtaking. A delight all around!

Es una lástima que no se indique en las habitaciones exteiores al río que éstas no poseen balcón, sólo ventanas con la vista hacia él a pesar de que son más caras que las demás. Por el resto un gran hotel
