We arrived during lunch service so everyone was very busy and preoccupied. Everyone was very courteous and we were checked-in without too much delay. As we were 3 adult females travelling together we were offered and accepted an extra bed on booking however this was not provided though ultimately it was not an issue. Our triple room was large and spotless, breakfast was good and the bistro superb. The waiting staff are to be commended for their attention and interaction. Travelling to Lucerne by bus was a breeze as the bus stops directly in front of the hotel. Being able to purchase bus tickets from reception makes it all very easy. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Balm Meggen enormously.

This is the first time we went International and were cautious, but the staff made us feel like family and friends. Everyone helped us to make the best trip. Food was fantastic in the hotel and they recommended other restaurants that were just as great. Day trips easy to get around to the Mountains to hike and explore or take boats out on Lake Luzern. Fabulous

Absolutely the perfect place to stay! Beautiful area with an even more beautiful view, a charming welcome and friendly hotel staff. The hotel is operated by the family which makes the quality even higher. Newly renovated rooms with modern enterieur design, spaciousness and a view on the Swiss mountains. Breakfast is on the highest standards and it is served in the open terrace in good weather. Additionally, the restaurant which is also operated by the family, delivers one of the best quality food I've ever eaten in Switzerland. I can fully recommend the place to everyone, who wants to enjoy the calm environment with fresh air and beautiful mountain view!

This hotel is great for people enjoying a quiet stay. It was located about 10 minutes from Luzerne. We were there around Christmas time, and tourism was not in its high season. Out of the three hotels we stayed at, my friends liked this one the best. The rooms were very pleasant.

A good hotel. The room was clean, it had a lot of space and the quality of services provided was very good/high. We found the price (280 CHF per night) a little high.

Hotel close to city centre by bus/car. Hotel met our expectations and good parking facilities. Staff were very helpful in all our questions/request of the local area and tourist spots.

My family of 5 had the Quad. Extra mattress (nice & thick) & generous buffet breakfast included in the very reasonable online deal of 510CHF. Very quiet, clean and appealing, and the staff were very nice. Ample free parking, and Lucerne was less than 15 mins drive away. Hubby & I splurged on one delicious candlelight dinner at the in-house restaurant while the kids entertained themselves upstairs in the room. Within a short walk outside are some restaurants (Chinese, Italian etc), shops & supermarket. A family photo taken in the hotel's beautiful little garden bursting with autumn colour in the dappled sunlight is one of our favourite shots of our entire European vacation.

The room and food service were excellent. The location is a short distance out of town on the bus route that runs like clockwork. From the room we could see the mountains. Only annoyance was getting tickets on the bus was cumbersome and expensive. Would be nice if there was better info on how and where a person could get bus pass. This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed on this trip.

Great views from the terrace. ideal to start your day with a terrific breakfast and very kind personel. spottless place. the rooms on the street side were obviously a bit more noisy when you kept open the windows in summer.

If you hav a car then this is a good place to stay. There are more hotels closer to Lucerne at same price as well. It was very neat and clean. It was modern and though the staff were nt very volunteering in providing information they catered the essential. Overall a lovely place. Nice spacious room. Breakfast was excellent. Free car park space as well.

This is a superb place to stay. The hotel was beutiful, clean and very comfy! The restaurant was run very efficiently and the food was nice. When you stay there take time to walk in the area, especially behind the hotel! Coming from Paris Lucerne is like a paradise where everyone is so friendly and helpful. I will go there again anytime! Only one warning, The beautiful light fitting in the bathroom was very-very hot!

This hotel is outside of the city, but was perfect since we were driving. There was free parking and the bus stop is just across the street. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. Overall, a great stay at this hotel.

The location is a bit out of town, which is just perfect. After a busy day of working or sightseeing, it´s just wonderful to get out to Balm. And actually - it is not far at all. just 15 min with bus. the busses go very frequent. The staff is excellent, and the restaurant is gorgeous.

Our stay at the Balm Meggen was delightful. Our room was very nice with a view of Lake Lucerne and the mountains. They even have ponies, goats and rabbits for children to pet. The grounds are lovely and the hotel has two dining rooms. One is more casual but has mostly the same food which was excellent. The staff was helpful, as we had questions about what to see in Lucerne.

Much better than the photographs. Typical Swiss hotel as I had imagined it to be with all comforts of a 3 star. Just what I was looking for. Excellent staff & location...only 10 minutes ride from Luzern. Hotel should update the photagraphs as the present pictures don't do justice to the hotel.

We stayed here for just 2 nightsafter being further South in Switzerland. We were not expecting too much but we were really pleasantly surprised. The hotel is easy to reach from Lucerne Station by bus (10 mins ). In a lovely peaceful area, staff were extremely efficient and polite, the quality of their service felt more like 4 stars than 3. Our room was large with a beautiful view of lake and mountains, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Only moan we may have is that the 1st floor room we had was immediately over the restaurant which generated some noise early morning and late evening, but it did not cause us any major problem. Plenty of outside space for the children as well as chairs and loungers to relax on. In all we couldn't fault this hotel, also the restaurant is fantastic, excellent food with wonderful views of the lake. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone wanting the closeness to the city but offering a tranquil retreat at the end of a busy day.

Very friendly and competent staff. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Hotel is located outside of Luzern so car is needed to get to it. Compared to other hotels we stayed at, the breakfast was very good and had more variety.

My wife and I stopped for 2 nights. Excellent family run hotel and restaurant with a terrace with views over the lake and mountains. Hotel owners were very visible and all staff were very pleasant and helpful. Bus stop outside to Lucerne (about 15 mins journey). No lift so disabled guests could have a problem. Totally exceeded our expectations.

We Stayed here for one night a stop off on the way to Italy. There was 2 adults and 2 children, the room was amazing with the childrens room joined to the main room by an adjoining walk way. The bathroom was amazing with a walk in shower. The rooms and hotel were amazingly clean and modern with a great breakfast. Value for money was excellent and a great location to the main town of Lucerne. Had a childrens play park and a few animals.

Great hotel, especially for the price. Spacious, clean rooms. Beautiful view from the patio excellent for their full breakfast! Quiet and very comfortable. It was a bit far from the train station, but the bus stops directly in front. The laundry service is very pricey.

We arrived here late in the evening (8pm) and were hungry, the staff organised a restaurant down the road for us to eat and it was fantastic. We cannot fault the hotel, really lovely and the views were beautiful. Wide range of food for breakfast. Stayed for 3 days- had a wonderful time - loved Luzern.

Great hotel to if you don't want to stay inside the city. Lovely rural location, still only 15 minutes by bus from Luzern city center. Only problem was there was no elevator, nor was there someone to help with our luggage. Overall, very good hotel and food.

Beautiful surroundings, spotlessly clean, excellent breakfast, beware - no elevator. Wife has difficulty with stairs and management unable to offer alternative room. Rather strange wooden, low beds with an orthopaedic adjustment system, found to be on ultra-soft setting on arrival, liable to collapse but soon fixed, down pillows can cause problems to asthmatics! Room quiet and light-proof provided wooden shutters closed.

Good bus service to all areas. Dinner in the hotel was offered by owner without prices as a favor. Dinner was more than the cost of one night's stay. If you are going to spend most of your time in Lucern, it is better to stay closer.

Fantastic breakfast: great range and quality of food. Room itself was a bit noisy, there was hammering in the room next door, and screaming kids in the room on the other side. Nice views though and a convenient distance from Luzern.

This is an excellent hotel that is a little off the beaten path. The property is family run and it shows in their care of the guests. Our only difficulty was in finding the property. Once on the correct road it is easy but choosing the road from the expressway was difficult.

This hotel is quite ideal, parking outside and bus stop opposite hotel into centre of Lucerne, which is very regular every 20minutes or so. Receptionist had excellent english and very helpful. Room and bathroom was clean. The restaurant was fine, the waiting staff were very good. We were going to sit in the bistro and a kind waiter said that it would be more romantic in the restaurant, where you choose from the same menu (?). Food was good and service efficient. Breakfast was fine also. Our complaints with the hotel are few, and possibly us being fussy: although not advertised internet access in the room did not work, neither did the wireless broadband at reception. The manager was quite abrupt and practically shrugged her shoulders at us. For a hotel in a tourist region, and Lucerne is the town with mainly tourists, it is disappointing not to have adequate internet access within the hotel. Our only other complaint was the cheese trolley during dinner, neither my husband or myself eat cheese and the smell was quite overwhelming. As we were drinking coffee we decided to leave rather than ask for it to be moved. For the price and location, i would consider this hotel. Close enough to Lucerne to visit all the sites, but far enough away to have a quiet night's sleep. Return to town, less than 5 swiss france.
