Hotel Ambassador - Lucerne

We really had good experience at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good Breakfast. Close to the station. Bus stop is right outside the hotel, which was very helpful. We will definitely consider this hotel again if we decide to visit Lucerne again.

Definitively not a 4 star hotel as advertized. Other than an excellent location, all other facilities and services are below minimal standards (even for a lower rated hotel). Bedroom still have installed a "music-center" from the 1960's , same happen with furniture, probably never renovated since the hotel was open many decades ago. Breakfast (3 days) was one of the poorest, cheaper you can imagine, even at a 2 star hotel. Overall, it's clear owners are only focused in making big money from guests with no reciprocity in the quality of services provided. Avoid this overpriced hotel, but don't miss the opportunity to visit Luzern which certainly is a great place to stay in Central Switzerland.

Great location, confortable rooms. I do recommend this hotel. Quiet neighborhood. Closed from downtown, we walked from the train station.

In November 2007 my wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Ambassador Hotel in Lucerne. This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the train station, easy to find, very convenient to restaurants and shopping in old town, and is near the Lion monument. It’s on a main street that has street cars, so transportation is very easy. Our room was clean, quiet, and had a mini-safe and refrigerator. The bed was large and comfortable, and the lighting and heating were good. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and a large bathtub. The hotel provided free house slippers. The buffet breakfast, included in the rate, had a good selection, and was very good. The reception area is on the 5th floor and has chairs and tables for guests to use. The desk clerks were very courteous and helpful. The reception desk had a lot of tourist information about Lucerne, a computer with free internet, and a small room to store luggage after checking out. Access to the hotel from the street at night is controlled by a key system. Before leaving the hotel, a guest inserts the room keys into a board on the wall near the desk. Turning the room key releases an adjacent key, which is used to access the elevator and entrance door on the ground floor. Turning the room key also locks the room key in the board on the wall until the guest returns and inserts the access key to release their room keys. We don’t understand (or agree with) the negative reviews we’ve seen about this hotel.

A convenient hotel for Lucerne historic centre - functional rather than atmospheric. Bar not open when we were there not a hotel to lounge in. Very clean and efficient - continental breakfast good and kept stocked up. Good selection of food. Access by lift not a problem to us but you need to be aware of it if considering this hotel. Our room was a city view but not unduly noisy - traffic noise could heard at busy times but not intrusive (we were on the 6th floor).

This was an excellent hotel with a very good staff
