From the A11 Viareggio/Lucca motorway, take the exit Lucca. After the toll booth, follow signs to the city centre, pass over the bridge and then take the first street on the right, Viale Luporini. Proceed on Viale Luporini for about 1.5 km and reach Piazzale Italia. Keep the right to remain on the main road and, then, at the next traffic light, turn left and follow signs to Abetone. You will find the old city walls of Lucca on your right, and take the Viale Giosuè Carducci road. Pass through two traffic lights, always keeping the walls on your right. Then at the next traffic light, turn right into Porta San Donato. Once you enter the walls of the city, proceed straight on. After about 150 meters, turn right onto Via Pelleria for about 100 meters. Then turn right onto Via San Tommaso and reach Via Galli Tassi. You will find Palazzo Alexander on your left at the intersection with Via Santa Giustina.
