About Hotel Napoleon

exterior Hotel Napoleon exterior The Napolean Hotel in Lucca is easily accessible to east Lucca motorways and is strategically located near the Renaissance-era city walls. The hotel is perfect for guests visiting Italy wishing to take advantage of the city-wall promenades around Lucca city centre, though appropriate for discovering coastal areas such as Versilia beach which is just minutes away.

This exclusive 4-star complex is a perfect stopover hotel for those on a weekend break in Tuscany, as major cities in central Italy are just a short drive away, such as Pisa, Florence and Siena, where guests can organise trips to local farms and purchase Tuscany’s famous olive oil and wines.

Business travellers attending a corporate event, organising a meeting or looking for a business hotel in Lucca where they will find elegant surroundings and efficient amenities should stay at the Napolean; the fully-equipped function rooms are appropriate for meetings or lunch breaks and the American bar with large-screen TV and free wireless Internet access provides them with an up-scale though informal ambiance.

Good hotel and good value for money. The room was excellent. Breakfast could definitely be improved though.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Lucca, but the walk is not unreasonable, it is however along a busy 4 lane road, very satisfying to stop all the traffic at the crossing lights. The staff are ALL excellent and nothing is too much trouble. Each evening a new dining place was recommended and each evening was better than the previous night. The staff were the heart and soul of the hotel and could not have been bettered.

A terrible odour of ammonia from the sewage in the bathroom, air conditioning insufficient, breakfast very poor, insufficient for a 4-star hotel.

Although advertised, air-conditioning was not turned on (until 1 June). Room was too hot and when window was opened, the nighttime noise from traffic and next door cafe was not bearable. However, good location for getting into Lucca and staff very helpful and kind.

Ci tornero'

This is a nice hotel, but the main problem is its location. Do NOT walk from the station if possible. Take a taxi. There IS a shortcut, but almost impossible to find unless you are familiar with Lucca. I had to cross a very street leading to the highway to get there after walking 25 minutes. Once there staff were friendly though. Hotel is fine otherwise.

The overall quality of the room is quite poor. The bathroom has a movable shower which is located very low, so I had to lower my back to get water. The shower has no shower curtain, so every time I showered there is water everywhere. I have to say the lady that works in the morning has been the most helpful with my questions and getting train schedules for me. The other staff did not help me much in regards to questions on how to get to closest train station and how to get around in Lucca. The man just gave me a map. I was in Lucca for vacation and the city center is quite nice.

Comfortable top floor room had large balcony with superb views of the town and valley. Smart hotel, easily accessible, almost deserted in mid-August, on wide main road. Secure garage parking for a small fee. The lack of a restaurant necessitated a rather unpleasant 15 min walk on narrow pavements beside some quite busy roads to the town, though there is a high class restaurant AND a Macdonalds opposite.

I chose this on the basis of others' reviews and I was not disappointed. Easy and safe walk into town. My room had a balcony overlooking the countryide at the back, a bonus I had had no idea of till I arrived. Though the road out the front is busy, there are crossing points, and with a room at the back it wasn't an issue at all. Breakfast was included, which I wasn't sure about before. There is a back way to town past the local villas which avoids the horrible 6 lane road bridge over the railway. About 15mins walk to the station.

The Napoleon is a nice hotel. It was very quiet as there were not too many guests staying there during our stay. It's close to the sights in Lucca but it's a nasty walk to get there. Even though the walk was only about 10 minutes the streets were very busy and noisy. You could drive but the drive is not much better and the parking is scarce. I would prefer something more convenient to the sights but overall this is not a bad choice.

Well located between the town and the motorway - a ten minute walk to the walls of Lucca - with plenty of parking, which is useful for a car-borne visitor to Lucca. The staff were cheerful and helpful and the hotel clean and bright but, as a building, it is not a reflection of the historic town which you are visiting. The most expensive place we stopped on a tour of France and Italy, but probably worth it for the convenience.

Well located to visit Lucca. We had a top floor room with terrific views all around. Breakfast good. Lack of facilities eg tea, coffee making in the room.

Slightly shabby modern hotel in a poor location: on a main road out of town, gas stations on each side and a noisy all-night cafe just below. To be fair, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. But the place had the aura of a state-owned hotel in Hanoi. Heaven knows how it merits four stars. Aircon was switched off because "some guests asked for heating". Poor value at 130 euros a night in April, but it has private parking and is a 10-minute walk from the centro storico, so it's an option if everywhere better is booked solid.

The Hotel offered a reasonable standard of accommodation for the price. However there was nothing to justify a four star rating.
