Stayed for a week July 2011 with wife and 2 sons (16 & 14). Hotel 10min drive to Lucca but very scenic location. Hotel clean but staff not very friendly, owner (award winning chef according to certs all over the wall) never once acknowledged anyone even when he works reception or bar, staff take their lead from him. Breakfast was a hit and miss, some days it all came together other days it didn't but we managed. certainly worth staying there with family, restaurant in hotel expensive, ate there 1st night, so better to eat out, and food was only ok. Would recommend it even with all above, it was reasonable priced and worked well as a base for exploring the area. A car is a must.

The dinner in the restaurant was everything the reviews said it will be. The fresh raviolis were out of this world. The best we ate during our travels in Italy! It is surely worth the visit. The common areas are like a personal salon. We just didn't stay long enough to enjoy it. My only regret was breakfast. The bread, jam and fruit juice were quite stale to say the least. Nothing fresh there. The bread has probably been there for months. We were there this february 2010 (low season). I hope they serve fresher breakfast during the tourist season.

Difficult to find - even with satnav and map. Attitude of staff variable - some very pleasant, others offhand. Restaurant next door provides reasonable, not too expensive Tuscan food. Just as well as the hotel is quite isolated. Breakfasts very poor. Little choice. Lucca well worth a visit but I would try to find somewhere better, closer to town centre the next time.

Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, and there were no other restaurants in the vicinity. It was late at night and we had a hard time finding anywhere to eat. When we finally did eat and get back to the hotel, there was no parking because of a meeting being held there. We had to park in the street.

Hotel a little off the beaten track but offered excellent value for money and a convenient location for visiting Lucca & Pisa. Food in the restaurant was outstanding.

Accueil plus que sympathique, endroit charmant et calme en pleine campgane, point de vue de la terrasse magique, les hôtes parlent français et sont très chaleureux, leurs conseils sont précieux pour visiter les alentours.

The hotel was just a few miles outside of the town of Lucca, which was exactly what we wanted. The true Tuscan food served in the restaurant was great. The hotel offered a cooking class, which was fantastic. The owner was extremely out-going as was his staff.

Located 3km from Lucca, this hotel is perfect for exploring the city as well as the countryside. We enjoyed running, biking and hiking the quiet country roads here. Adjacent to the hotel, there is an excellent restaurant(Michelin Guide, I believe)which served delicious meals at a very good price. Inceidentally, the hotel also offers week-long cooking classes, something we may look into for a future stay.

The hotel in general was nice, but the restaurant was poor. Breakfast was good. It is quite a long way from Lucca, you could not walk.

The hotel was as it was described on the web site, staff were friendly and the surroundings were pleasant. The service in the restaurant was variable however we would certainly stay at the hotel again and recommend it to others. A car/taxi is essential for this hotel.

After a beautiful day at the Cinque Terre, we were thrilled with the quiet, pastoral setting of the Carignano. The village was easy to find from Lucca. Of the 4 hotels we had during this trip to Italy, this was the favorite and we wished we could have spent more time here & in the Lucca area. The rooms were very nice and we loved the balconies. The lounge areas were lovely and comfortable and the staff was very courteous (we had local guests whom we spent time visiting in the lounge area & the night manager was very accomodating). We enjoyed excellent food in the restaurant . The young adult women in our group were very happy with their night "under the Tuscan moon".

The hotel is nicely situated, not far from the inner city of Lucca but far enough to be able to park a car. Surrounding countryside is very attractive.

For travel to Lucca, this hotel requires a vehicle. Cab fares to/from Lucca varied from 11 - 17 Euros. Distance from Lucca center should be made perfectly clear. Otherwise, a very lovely facility, excellent staff and nice rooms.

We were pleasantly surprised by this friendly hotel - breakfast was plentiful, and restaurant on site was good. The only problem, and we were aware of it at booking, was the distance to Lucca center. Travel to the train station was a 15-20 Euro taxi ride.

Generally speaking I would recommend this Hotel to my friends anytime. It's an ideal place to stay from where you can make numerous trips to e.g. Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio (Beach) Grotta del Vento etc. I specially appreciated the quietness of the hotel and the truly friendly staff.
