Hotel Albergo Celide - Lucca

We had booked a comfort room which was not to our preference plus the bed lighting was inadequate. We were upgraded to an executive room at no extra charge. This room was very nice. The staff were excellent in every way, the room and public areas were spotless and the choice of food at breakfast was very good. The location of the hotel was just right as it offers free onsite parking ( a big bonus in Lucca) and is outside of the city walls, no more than a leasurely 10 minute walk into the walled city of Lucca. Our stay was for 6 nights and made more enjoyable as we visited other areas in Tuscany in our hire car and on returning to the hotel it was lovely to be able to park with ease. Value for money? Yes.

Very friendly welcome, top reception staff. Very nice and spacious room and beautiful bathroom. Breakfast extraordinary with very good food.

We asked for a quiet room which was very good but it was cramped and too small. Great location with access to the walled city just across the road but watch out for the traffic, walk up the road and use the controlled crossing.

The hotel was in general very good, with a reasonable breakfast, well presented. However, our room (70) was very noisy, being above the hotel's external bar, and the air conditioning in the room was inadequate and very noisy. The hotel's restaurant was excellent, with superb food and very good service. Worth a detour!

This was my first visit to Lucca. The hotel was in an excellent location; the staff was good; I would consider this hotel again if I was to visit Lucca again.

The location was excellent. Great accomodation when you consider everything. Room was a little tight but this is very common in Europe. The staff was fantastic ! My wife was sick and they were considerate and helpfull.

Overall "ok" -- superb location, clean, comfortable walk into historic center and some of staff are just excellent --very very cordial, helpful, friendly. Arrival checkin person was quite sullen. Room Extremely Extremely Small -- about 1 foot from bed to walls.

Excellent stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. There were 3 different people on reception over 2 days and every one of them was friendly and helpful. Location was good, 10 min walk from station and 10 min walk into the town, they also had bikes for hire if you wanted. Restaurant was nice but English speakers were limited. Breakfast was comprehensive. I had a single room which was very small but was clean and comfortable. A good choice for a stay in Lucca.

The hotel is ideally located for walks in the old city of Lucca. Private car parking is very practical. We appreciated the availability of bicycles. The restaurant in the hotel offers excellent food for good prices. The breakfast buffet is great. All in all a great hotel for the price!

The location was excellent and there was parking which was important to us. The room was quite small but comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful, particularly Ingrid, who went beyond her reception duties.

Excellent hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Situated just outside the city walls its about a 10 min walk to both station and old town - so was ideal for us. Very comfortable room (if not huge) and large bathroom with walk in shower. Would certainly recommend.

We were very happy with our stay at Albergo Celide and would choose to stay there again. The hotel has the advantage of a car park and while being outside the city walls is close to one of the gates to the city. We really appreciated the airconditioning with temperatures outside of 36 degrees C. All the staff were very helpful. The bar restaurant adjoining the hotel provided great food. We've been to Lucca about three times before this visit, but not stayed at Albergo Celide before, but hope to return.

Very smart hotel in a good position for exploring Lucca. Although on a main road our room (at the back) was very quiet. Breakfast offered a good choice and everywhere was very clean and airy. Car park was a bonus.

The hotel was ideally situated just outside the city walls - less than 5 minute walk. As it wasn't inside the walls the parking was free. It was on a busy road but we didn't hear any traffic noise in our room. We had a room with a "french bed" which turned out to be an ordinary double bed (4ft 6 in wide) and was perfectly adequate and comfortable. We borrowed bikes from the hotel to cycle around the city walls which was fun but was quite surprised to learn there was a charge for them. Breakfast was fine. If we came to Lucca again I would stay at this hotel again. It was easy to get to Pisa airport from here for an early morning flight.

Excellent location in relation to railway station and easy access to the walled city.

It was my first time at Lucca and I like it. The hotel is closed to one of the doors of the city and conform to descriptions. The room : very pleasant and clean, entirely new or renovated (?). No bad surprise at all

This is a good business hotel. We were tourists and the map provided did not have the correct information about the tourist offices, which made finding our way around difficult. The bedrooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast is expensive but worth it if you want a lot - we just like a continental breakfast, so not worth the price for us.

Quite nice hotel, and not too far away from the old center of the city, where the prices are much higher.

This hotel is ideal if visiting by car as there is secure parking within the hotel area.It is then a few minutes walk to the nearest gate of the old town.The staff are friendly and helpful,the rooms clean and surprisingly quiet considering the hotels position.

We spent 3 days in Celide Hotel in Lucca and we appreciated both the quality of the hotel (room, bathroom and breakfast) and kindness and skill of personnel also regarding information/suggestion.

Nice hotel, competent and kind people, good service at a good price. Very near to the Elisa Door . The position allows one to leave the car at the hotel and to go by feet( or bicycle ) to visit Lucca.

I stayed at five different hotels during my vacation this year in Bologna, Perugia, Siena, and Lucca, and this hotel was by far better than any of the others. It is right outside of the city wall with easy access to the city center. It's easy to reach by car, but I am not sure how close it is to a bus station. I would recommend the facility to everyone. The only "negative" is the restaurant that is attached to the hotel was not open in November. This is hardly a negative though, because there are so many different places to eat in Lucca. The hotel breakfast was more than adequate. Finally, a daytrip to Pisa was very managable, and I would recommend staying in Lucca as opposed to finding a hotel in Pisa. I would definitely return.

Hotel Albergo Celide exceeded our expectations. The service (especially from Ingrid) and breakfast was outstanding. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable hotel with a perfect location for our first visit to Lucca. The room was a little small but the bathroom and power shower more than made up for it. Great breakfast and free private parking a bonus. Just across the road from the walled city of Lucca.

I have been twice to this hotel. Staff are very helpful, rooms and bathrooms are nice and very clean. Only weakeness is that the rooms are a bit on a smallish size. Instead, a very big plus for me is the location, just ouside the town walls: it is very easy to reach by car and you can park without any problems in the private car park. At the same time, the town centre is just 5 minutes on foot. Considering the very good price I would highly recommend it.

An excellent hotel. Staff very good. Great location just outside the old wall.

Albergo Celide was of a very good standard, with good quality rooms and facilities within rooms. The hotel is very close to the wall surrounding Lucca, so could park at hotel and walk into city with ease. Bar and restaurant attached to hotel were right on to the very busy road going round the city, so rather noisy.

Great location and not hard to find if driving. Staff was helpful and the breakfast was very good. The room was small which is typical but was clean and the A/C worked.

The staff upon arrival were great, and the young man attending the desk was very helpful, as well as the woman in the mornings. We opted to stay one additional night, and only had a choice of a very crampped room in the basement which we saw and accepted. Upon arriving back after a day in Lucca, the young man at the desk said there was a better room available, and we were happy to change. A woman came out from behind the desk and scolded him, and said we could not have the room. That was the only bad experience, that we thought was tacky and un-professional.

Very overrated and expensive hotel regarding correct but not outstanding quality, esp. our room was very small; main advantages are closeness to center and easiness of parking

A newly renovated hotel in excellent location and helpful staff spoiled by the rooms being too small to accommodate guests.

Good comfotable hotel. Not too far from station but footpath bit rough for pulling bags. Located opposite walls into old city. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception and at breakfast.

Location is as good as it gets without being inside the walls. Chose hotel as it had its own car park but its such a short walk into the walls that the car did not get used. Staff very polite and have good grasp of english. Room was very clean and a good size. All in all very good value for money. Also the attached resturant is definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed the Albergo Cellide so much, we intend to return next year, and recommend it highly to anyone traveling to Lucca. The outside may not look like much, but the inside exceeded our expectations. The rooms, by design, are intentionally not spacious. They are instead extremely functional for their size and just gorgeous. The bathrooms are equally beautiful and functional. The hotel staff speak English quite well and are EXTREMELY helpful. The location is perfect -- just outside the Porta Elisa. The one and only negative to this hotel is that the internet is extremely slow, and tends to bounce you out. Because the hotel charges for the use of the computer (most other hotels we stayed at did not) the slowness of the computer was disappointing. Other than that, our stay was PERFECT.

Well managed, personalble, clean up to date easy access, private parking, internet connection.

In a city not known for a surfeit of good, reasonably-prices hotels, the Celide is noteworthy. Staff extremely helpful; attached Ristorante Celide provided about the best seafood grill I've had, an excellent partner to the hotel. Staff extremely welcoming and helpful, a credit to the hotel.

We had no complaints; room size smallish but adequate; bathroom smallish; staff excellent, parking lot convenient and adequate size; air conditioning perfect; elevator access is handy; location is good; opposite old wall of city; near park; walkable if you like to walk-to city; not a luxury hotel but certainly first class

Except for one desk employee being somewhat rude, stay was perfect. We stayed in a suite though, which my have given us a much better room than the normal. Clean, newly furnished and large room. Two thumbs up.

It was hot during our stay. We made the mistake of walking from the station. Bad idea. Too far, no sidewalks. It was early afternoon, room wasn't ready. They were apologetic offered us drinks, comfortable cool place to sit. Our room was tiny, compact like something you might get on a cruise ship. Twin beds. Carpet badly stained. The airconditioner was marginal, took four or five hours to get the room to mid to low 70's. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed in on the trip (outside of a luxury resort on the med) and the worst facilities. We will go back to Lucca, but next time find a place inside the walls. You go all the way there, why not bathe in the charm.

I would recommend the hotel as a very good base for visiting Lucca and the surrounding area which is very beautiful.The hotel is close to the railway station (less than 10 mins walk)and this made travel to Pisa, Florence and Viarregio very easy, trains are frequent and very reliable. The hotel was very clean, quiet and the staff friendly. We really enjoyed our holiday but I wouldnt bring kids as I think this type of holiday, where you do a lot of sightseeing is more suited to adults only. However, to keep the kids happy you could combine the sightseeing with a few trips to the nearby beach at Viarregio.

I was very happy with this hotel. The people were friendly and helpful, for a woman traveling on her own the fact that there is a restaurant attached is a bonus.

This was a very pleasant place to stay though it looked fairly uninspiring from the outside. The staff were delightful and the service was good but I had to trade off my preference for an open window and fresh air against the outside hum of electrical equipment during the night.

We booked the Celide at short notice following a stuff up by another establishment. They did us a favour as the Celide was excellent. The staff were very professional and helpful and the room was excellent, at a very good price. The adjoining but apparently independent restaurant was an added bonus with superb meals. We will certainly return.

We stayed at the Celide for 3 nights Sept.30th to Oct.02. The staff was very pleasant and always accomadating, but the room that we had #72 was terrible. We heard the people above us (talking and walking) outside traffic, people talking outside early in the morning and people working outside and inside. Also,the noise level in the halls were terrible. You could hear talking, walking up and down the stairs and when they closed their doors, you heard the slamming. We were also disappointed with the tub and no shower curtain. When we took a shower the water went all over the tile floor.

We had a wonderful stay at the Celide. It was located within walking distance from the town and railway station which made getting around a lot more easy. We would stay there again.

10 minutes walk from station. Pleasant walk into town. Staff very nice and helpful, facilities modern, lovely terrace for a quiet drink. Altogether very pleasant stay.

We thought the Albergo Celide was a superb little hotel in an excellent location. The staff were all very welcoming, but the thing that most impressed were the bicycles they provided. It was a real treat to cycle around the walls and through the streets of that delightful little city. I can't wait to go back to Lucca and the Algergo Celide.

We spent a night at Albergo Celide and found it wonderfully located for sightseeing the old city of Lucca. I would like to compliment the receptionist who arranged a walking tour for us to ensure we used our short time in Lucca as effectively as possible. Albergo Celide is a great hotel, with well appointed bedroom and bathroom. I highly recommend the hotel.

It is a very good hotel, located very near from one of the doors to enter Lucca. They have bikes you can use to visit the city or cycle the wall.

The hotel is within walking distance of the old town. It has reasonable, unguarded car parking. The rooms are very small for a four star hotel.

We enjoyed our stay. It was great to be able to walk to Lucca from the hotel. The rooms were spotless and the staff was accomodating. We will definitely stay at Albergo Celide.

Room adequate if small. Excellent bathroom. Welcoming and efficient staff. Location not ideal, but a useful base for Lucca particularly if you have a car.

Great place, friendly service, no problems with English and REAL airconditioning. Very modern and good locations. You simply must borrow a bicycle from the hotel (free for guests) and bike around the city and the wonderful wall! An amazing experience!!!

The staff was exceptionally warm and accomodating. Loved the modernity of the hallways and bathrooms, and the breakfast had plenty of variety. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning system more than adequate. The bicycles helped make the location excellent, and we were pleased with the convenience of the carpark (free and part of the property).

The staff was very courteous and helpful. The room they gave us did have a stale odor but was very clean. The location was right outside the walls of the city on a fairly busy street.

Nice room and welcoming staff made this visit pleasant. The only down side was that the hotel is located several blocks from the train station--too far to walk with luggage. The taxi ride was costly for the distance.

Efficient service close to the nearby City of Luca, by bike or walking. The hotel ambiance will improve once the improvement are done within the next six months.

We had a thoroughly wonderful time in this hotel. The staff was friendly, attentive and informative. The rooms were stylishly designed with a large bathroom. The breakfast was exceptional. Excellent location - close to the city but away from the noise. We would highly recommend the hotel and looking forward to go back again.

Welcoming and service minded staff. Easy to communcate with them in English, which in general is difiicult in Italy. The hotel was recently renovated, and it is placed just outside the old city walls. Great that it is possible to borrow bikes from the hotel. In general, it is a very nice hotel in a wonderful town.

This is a very comfortable hotel located directly across from the historic Lucca city wall. Easy walking access to historic center of Lucca, but also on a main road easy for motorists to find. Walking distance to train if not carrying luggage. Easy taxi access. Most rooms quiet in back of hotel with very good soundproofing, but a few front on street overlooking walls. Classy modern rooms. Good breakfast buffet. Only drawback for leisure traveler is lack of outdoor seating.

This hotel was highly recommended by a friend & co-worker who visits Lucca routinely. I was very satisfied with the recommendation & would most definitely suggest Hotel Celide to others visiting Lucca! The staff was very accommodating & the room was one of the best I've stayed in when visiting Europe (which I do every year.) Thank you!

The people really make the difference at this property. They are at the very least excellent.
