Hotel Saint-Etienne met my minimal expectations. I spent almost 40 euros for two persons and I think that price shouldn't have exceeded 30 euros (15 euros/person). As for the staff, nothing really special, I understood their strict policy of leaving the room at 10 am sharp even if you go slightly over time.

Our group was actually in Lourdes to visit the French Pyrenees National Park and see historical sites, not visit the Catholic pilgrimage site, and was glad that there were so many hotels in the area to make our stay so cheap. The prices listed on Venere.com for St. Etienne were among the cheapest, but you wouldn't guess it judging by the friendly and accommodating staff. You will, however, be disappointed if you think it will be easy to find good French food in the area around the hotel. Most places cater to the crowds that flock to Lourdes for the Grotto, and offer many different nationalities' foods and almost none are done particularly well. I think we found the one city in France with mediocre food. The hotel St Etienne advertises authentic French food in their kitchen; too bad we didn't try it. If it is comparable to the general service of the budget hotel, it can't be bad. The rooms were spartan and the bathroom less than dazzling, but for the price it sufficed. If you are staying in Lourdes on a religious trip to see the Grotto, it is very close.

La relación calidad/precio es buena. El único problema es que las habitaciones que nos asignaron eran hacia la calle. Por esta razón teníamos el ruido de los coches y motos que transitan por la noche.

Some facilities didn't work at the washroom, but they were still sitting there. If the hotel hires a person to take care the repaired job, the general quality must be improved.

St Etienne was what we wanted...a very standard room, a place to sleep. As soon as we check in, we go walking about. We wanted to be downtown Lourdes, where the action was and also in close walking distance to everything.

July 31, 2007 Hi Fellow Travelers, I arrived at the St. Entienne hotel on July 20. My wife and I had the foresite to look at the room before we checked in. The room was ridiculously small and quite musty smelling. My wife has Asthma and would get sick in such an environment. I pray that Venere does not charge me a one nights stay as penalty because the room was really uninhabitable. All in all, Lourdes is beautiful, but I would not recommend this hotel. St.-Etienne is ideally located its a little bit of a walk to the grotto but you don't squeeze in with the crowd that comes the hotels on the left side of the shrine. The house where St. Bernadett lived is just behind the block of the hotel. The shoppes around the St-Etienne area are reasonable in price.

I found this Hotel excellent value for money. It was accurately described on the internet site, great location and the staff were wonderful, always smiling and as i travelled alone this was very reassuring. The rooms were quite adequate and very clean and i could not honestly fault any part of my stay. As a well travelled person i find that friendly service is becoming more and more rare and that along with location and value is the main reason why i would recommend this Hotel.

The hotel is very central, 2 minute walk from sanctuary. It had a very small room but equipped with shower and toilet and the room was very clean. However the rooms were not soundproof and lot of sound is heard even with doors and windows closed. It is a good hotel for 1 or 2 days epecially if you use it for sleeping only.

Centrally located within walking distance from train station and the local areas of interest. Specific directions and suggestions for transport to the hotel from the train would have been helpful, however. An accurate map with distance indicators would have been nice as well. Overall, a good enough hotel for a great price. The services and rooms were as advertised. Being able to opt out of breakfast was a good point. I'd recommend this hotel for a clean room that does the job at a good price.

Really enjoy our stay at this hotel. Very close to the Grotto. Perfect location. Yes it's quite noisy though, you can hear people talking on the street, going p and down the stairs etc. But for location wise I would not complain too much. After joining the procesion late in the evenng you can just walk 5-10 minutes to the hotel. The staff at first they are a little quiet but after you made a conversation they are very friendly.

The coffee served during breakfast was just warm and not hot. The bathroom was clean and towels changed the next day. For the traveler on a budget the hotel met our needs. Thanks Venere.

The rooms were very minimal, but you did not visit Lourdes to watch television in your room. Nothing but the beds, a small table and chair in the room. The rooms we got were on the street side, which is nice during the day, but noisy at night. Location is good for visiting the santuaries.

Location could not be better. Short stroll to the sanctuary. Restaurants close by; the castle within walking distance. Small room and tiny lift; quiet; clean; For someone wanting no frills, low cost stay near the sanctuary we were happy with our choice. Ate breakfast on first stay and found could do better elsewhere.

The room is very clean and neat. The shower is owesome!! But the problem is the noises from your neighbour (either side-by-side or up-down neighbour) In the morning/night, when your neighbour walking, making telephone call is pretty much disturbing. But since the location is so perfect, I would give thie property A-

The service was quite cost-effective. The staff was quite helpful and efficient though not particularly cheerful. The gift shop had a wide variety of gifts and souvenirs with a 10% discount for hotel clients which was nice. The night staff was specially helpful in providing information on activities and services for pilgrims. It is an excellent hotel for those who would just like a reasonably priced and conveniently accessible comfortable room to spend the night in and spend the rest of the day and evening going around Lourdes.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are not included in the price showed in the web, the hotel is very near to the sanctuary (less than 5 min on foot). The hotel is open in the night. Very good ratio quality/price if don't have eat. There isn't a garage but there is a public car park at 3 min on foot. It's difficult to reach the hotel by car cause the frequent one way and the car map in the site is not exhaustive
