The staff was very friendly and even let us check in at 7:30 am instead of the 3pm normal check in. The hotel surroundings were fine. Some construction going on but was hardly noticed during our stay. The one downside to our stay was saturday night The Shrine building (right behind the hotel) hosted a rave. The music was so loud that it felt like the DJ was in our room. Around midnight they lowered the music a bit but it was still noticeable. Other than that the stay was awesome.

By and large, I opine that overall condition and quality of services in this inn were apparently better than what I expected after having read the review comments of most of previous lodgers here. My better half likes this inn very much and even considers that the room and the surrounding environment outside are more homely and comfortable when compared to the other two more expensive 3 to 4-star tourist hotels we had stayed near Disneyland and LAX before coming over here. The counter staff were generally helpful, especially the young lady on duty on the days we checked in and out. She was very nice and friendly, though she refused to give us any 'senior discount' as advertised on their website on the ground that our booking rate was the cheapest of their quotations.

We arrived on a weekday, early in the afternoon. The front desk staff were cordial and helpful. We were two adults and two children under 4. When we arrived, our room was not ready. A senior staff member offered to let us wait in the pool area under some shade. The room was clean. The furniture is relatively old but in good condition. There were ants in the "kitchen area" - where the sink, fridge and microwave were, but the management is taking care of it--the fumigator was there during our stay. At night, the neighborhood is generally quiet. The continental breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m., which is great for those of us who are early birds. We were able to get to the Convention Center by bus - the Dash for only 25 cents per person (over 4 yrs). The Dash and other bus services are available within a block from the Inn. There are lots of eating places in the vicinity - McDonalds, Subway, Mexican food, etc. If we visited LA again and needed to be close to Downtown, I would definitely stay at this Inn. I recommend it for any traveler who wants to be close to Downtown.

I just use this hotel because its close to the USC campus and I visit friends there. The price is cheap which is good. I've stayed here twice. The first time was perfectly fine, but they didn't have wireless internet, so bring a cable. The second time there were tiny ants in my room and it wasn't as clean. This room had internet though, so I guess it varies.

From I-110 northbound: take 37th St/Exposition Blvd Exit. Stay on Exposition Blvd and turn right onto Figueroa Street. The hotel is located on the left at the intersection of Figueroa and 31st Street.
From I-110 southbound: take Adams Blvd Exit towards Figueroa Street and turn right onto Figueroa Street. The hotel is located on the right at the intersection of Figueroa and 31st Street.
