If you're not renting a car and your watching your budget, then this is the place to stay in Los Angeles. The location is the Hotel's strong point, with Union Station just down the road (trains, metro line and bus stops,) you will get to see all the sights.

This hotel has an excellent position close to the train station. It is a bit on the border of downtown, therefore to reach restaurants you have to walk a bit. However, the area is quite and many buses and metro stations are available. I would suggest it

Beds were very uncomfortable. Accommodations very old; nothing extra. No wifi. If staying for one night it's fine, if on vacation I wouldn't recommend.

The Metro Plaza Hotel was indeed affordable and I cannot say in particular that I have any strong gripes with the establishment. I stayed here for two nights with a group of friends during the weekend of "Electric Daisy Carnival 2010". Some issues I had with the establishment are as follows: 1. poor parking (although they have an attendant at hand who is responsible for stacking vehicles in the garage/backside of the hotel) 2. limited parking lead to vehicles not being able to move freely. Attendant had to move vehicles around to accomodate guests. 3. parking cost $4.00 USD per day. 4. My rental car's battery died. I asked the front desk if I could borrow jumper cables and the guy answered irritably, stating to go talk to the parking attendant (the parking attendant could not help me either so I had to purchase cables at the chevron across the street). 5. Small towels 6. the elevators will close on you. fast. Don't attempt to slide your hand through as they do not have sensors that will re-open the elevator doors. Pretty unsafe, in my opinion. However, there were also some benefits to staying at the Metro Plaza Hotel, namely being: 1. Subway is right next to the hotel (easy eats) 2. The hotel was located close to any attractions nearby that I required/attended. 3. Complimentary breakfast from 6:30-9:30 am. 4. The hotel's complimentary soap/shampoo was of higher grade quality than I anticipated 5. Hotel rooms were clean, hallways were clean 6. For the most part, the staff was knowledgeable and easily accessible. I paid $236.44 for the price of two nights. I'd recommend it if it were cheaper, say $180.00 total.

Nosotros como familia (4)viajamos en auto y pràcticamente usamos el hotel para dormir. No obstante nos pareciò adecuado el precio a la calidad. Limpio, tranquilo, desayuno continental, etc

I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The room is clean and comfortable, and has free wi-fi provided. I haven't noticed that the price of the hotel room is excluding the tax, and it offers the price lower than the one when I booked online (excluding tax). Although there is no coffee maker in the room, there is a water machine outside that I can get hot/ cold water and ice to make my own drinks, and there is 24 hour free coffee in the lobby (I haven't tried). The staff is nice and patient. The breakfast provided is good enough, there are a wide variety of choices like corn flakes with milk, banana, toast, bread, cake bun, coffee, apple juice, orange juice. The location is not far from the Union Station, but it is quite tired to pull my luggage from the station to the hotel. I can find it easily especially at night, as it has a big logo with light. "Subway" is located besides the hotel, I can buy cheap sandwiches for dinner. Generally, I like this hotel. It is good for traveller with limited budget.

for the price that i paid and the kind of travel itinerary i had, it worked out really well. Esp for folks who are without cars, this hotel would work really well for u. 5mins from Union Station, across the street there're a bunch of mexican restaurants and relatively safe streets (it is LA after all) all worked favourably. Go for it.

Standard room is spacious with TV and fridge. Staff OK but not amazingly helpful.. Very close to Union Station, not in a bad area of downtown LA... Breakfast is basic, but you can grab unlimited cornflakes, chocolate cereal, toast, bagels, jam, cream cheese, bananas, fruit juice and tea and coffee, included in the room price.

This hotel enjoys a very convenient location (given its proximity to the Union station). The staff were very pleasant, and the room was very good value for money - meeting the description given and being spacious. Bottom line: this is a good value for money place to stay.

Great Place for the price and location. ! Very convenient when arriving/departing by train. Very close to Olivera Street with its shops and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. They allow early check-ins and late check-outs. We will definitely continue to use this hotel when arriving by train in LA.

It was OK, but not more. Area was boring and nothing around. We had a car, so it was ok. Still, area is safe and they have car parking. Staff was friendly but not more. I would choose a different hotel next time, since it was really nothing special.

Hotelroom was clean. The hotel staff could smile a bit more and be more friendly. The location of the hotel is good. 5 min from Union station (subway red line and purple line). The DASH bus stop to Downtown LA is also nearby. The only negative thing is that there are some homeless people around hotel area at night. But other than that, we are quite pleased with our stay.

The relationship between price and quality is quite adequated, however it was very hard for me to reach the hotel (by public transportation). the staff didn't help me to find their property even if I asked them before arrival but they never answered my email. The neighbourhood is a peaceful place but be aware to go forward the right adress (main street is a huge one and not always well indicated). In general, the hotel is no bad (think that LA is a dangerous place with very frightening corner). Last thing, note that the pictures from other preview traveller are real ones

I stayed at the Metro Plaza for 7 days in November 07. The hotel rooms are very spacious & clean. What I disliked was the lack of any laundry facilities for guests. A must if you are staying for more than 1 or 2 days. The closest coin laundry is beyond walking distance & requires you to waste valuable holiday or business time either catching public buses (a little daunting in a city like LA) or taxis to a laundry & back. It was MOST inconveinent. I mentioned to the manager behind the desk that they consider supplying a couple of washing machines & dryers - he just ignored my statement & told me the laundry was 'about 2 miles away' & told me to catch the bus..RUDE! I also emailed my impression of my stay to the Manager last week as they invite comments on their website - as yet no reply. Customer feedback seems to be brushed aside. It's a shame as with a basic laundry which would make the hotel money & greatly assist guests & if the gym equipment in the "members only gym" advertised by the hotel was repaired so it was useable (there are broken cables etc) - this would be a really nice hotel which I would gladly stay at often. Something else worth being aware of is that if you have 3 or 4 sheets of toilet roll left or 2 drops of shampoo left - housekeeping don't replace it. I can only assume housekeeping have been told to keep costs down by only replacing completely used up shampoos & soaps. However having to contact the front desk to ask for toilet paper should be necessary. There's cheap - then there is stingy! Overall - no problems with the rooms, but the hotel needs to think of the needs of a guest staying more than 1 or 2 days & supply a basic laundry, fix up the gym equipment & ensure guest supplies are adequate for 24hrs when servicing rooms. A few simple things that would make such a difference.

I would not use or recommend this hotel to anyone it was in a very dodgy area and the facilities for breakfast was more like a drop in centre for the homeless, ie paper plates and cups. There was no facilities in the bedroom to make a hot drink. I was travelling with my son. We took the underground down town to Hollywood Bulvd where we had our meals

We had a brilliant stay. Very clean room and friendly staff. Overall quality of stay was well above the what we expected with the very reasonable price of thr room. Although there was not much around the hotel the underground station was almost opposite and was so cheap to travel on we were able to get to see everything we wanted, including the X games at the Staples centre (only 30 minutes away at most) Would definatley recommend this hotel to everyone.

The hotel was so so type, but I could have got better hotel. The picture that is shown in the website, especially the main lobby is way too exaggarated. The actual lobby is poorly maintained and shabby one. the complementary break fast is also not good. I wont reccomend this hotel, unless you want to use Union Station, which is wlaking distance away.

After our experience of the spaulding in S.F. I was dreading what we might find. Hotel is clean, rooms sapcious, service friendly and helpful, facilties good (eg hairdryer) and the only hotel in which we stayed dureing our trip (total 9) which actually served breakfast in a dining area.
