Room was clean and very small, with not too many luggage you should get by. Bathroom had been recently renovated. You might want to avoid the rooms next to the breakfast room and reception. Some of the rooms has a nice view with a balcony and are more spacious aswell. In order to squeez yourself in the breakfest room, be an early bird. Would stay again.

We atayed at Notting Hill Gate Hotel for almost 2 weeks. We were 2 mothers travelling with our graduating daughters. We had 2 rooms and after an initial glitch in our reservation, all problems were rectified promptly and in a very friendly manner. This hotel is a very good value, be sure to book early for best rates.Rooms are adequately sized but not huge. Also ask for a room on the upper levels. The rooms were cleaned very well each day and the public areas were always clean. Reception was friendly and very helpful. The area is very central, with great transport connections, lots of shops, restaurants and walking distance to Hyde Park. We had a wonderful stay and would definately stay here again! Say hello to Ahmed when you go.

Ok for one night. Little bit small room for 5 people. When we had breakfast, we had to take it with us to the room, becuse of the space. We came from Gatwick and it was easy to find the hotel.

We've got a room in the basement first, which didn't agree with us (comfort, TV not working properly, missing privacy when curtains are open). We managed to move to another room on the third floor during our stay, which was much better. It was a bit more spacious and generally more comfortable. Rooms are clean and tidy. We found the staff to be generally helpful and nice while one member of staff didn't really seem to care. The breakfast room is tiny so you better be early if you want to have some breathing space when having brekfast. I would stay in this hotel again, as the price and the location are good. Next time I'd just make sure not to get a room in the basement.

Our room was on the top floor (attic) with a skylight for a window, it was a cloudy day and it was like a hot house,on a sunny day it would have been impossible to be in the room in the daytime. There was barely room to get in the door nevermind get our luggage in without one of us getting on the bed. We asked to be moved to another room and they said the only other room was in the basement. We took the room in the basement but it smelt of damp especially in the bathroom, my sister ended up having an asthma attack for most of our trip triggered by this. Our room was between the kitchen and the alley where the garbage was taken out. It was also below the breakfast room and the front door of the hotel so at around 7am chairs and tables were being scraped across the floor above to set up the diningroom in the reception area, dishes caltering, employees shouting and the door to the alley and the enterance of the hotel banging, it was a nightmare. The breakfast consisted of stale cornflakes, toast you had to make yourself, rubbery boiled eggs and coffee that was down to the last half inch when we arrived. After the first morning we ate at a cafe down the street. The neighbourhood was lovely, across from Kensington Gardens, a nice local shopping area, tube stops nearby and lots of buses. I would definatley recomend the neighbourhood but steer clear of the hotel, it couldn't have been any worse unless there were mice running around. I would have gladly paid more for a comfortable hotel.

The hotel was very nice but our room was in the basement. The air was very stuffy, having only one window which did not lead directly outside. When we asked to be switched to a room with more air they told us that they would be able to switch us for the next day. We were appreciative but in the end decided not to bother and to stay where we were. It was in a very good location, right near hyde park and in a nice neighborhood. Breakfast was good but standard, staff was nice but foreign. We felt that we were able to walk barefoot on the floors which is always a good sign. Great Value. Overall would rate my stay with a B+.

We were asked to pay in advance compulsory and to pay with credit card a 4% was added. After insisting only a 2% were added but this should be notified. They told us to call venere from own our cell phone to make a acomplaint about this. If you do not pay in advance, you cannot check-in. We stayed in a triple room but it was a doubled bed and a sofa, no air conditioning. It was clean but as it was in the hall floor a lot of noise could be heard from the room.

Perfect deal!!! situation is unbeatable, in the heart of Notting Hill neighbourhood. Very very close to tube station(red and yellow line), just in front the bus station, several pubs in the sorroundings. Just 10 minutes walking from Portobello Market... Our quad room in the first floor was much higher than expected, even had a wonderful terrace. Everithing spacius except the breakfast room, is the ONLY bad point of the hotel, if I say that is tiny I am being too generous. But don´t reject this hotel for this reason, all the other points are outstanding!!! If prices are not increased I have no doubt I would come back to this hotel.

We arrived very late and because of it we got tiny room with no view, but when we complained about it and then they gave us a bigger and better room (room for 4 people). Everybody was very friendly and the price 33£ for double room was great. The breakfast was very basic (boiled egg, toast, cereals, milk, juice, coffee, tea) but nice. Surroundings are beautiful (Kensington Park and Hyde Park) and the Portobello Road Market is very near.

We were really satisfied with the hotel: good remarks are that our room was really quiet, bathroom was new, bed was ok, so the basic requirements (i.e. to sleep ok and to stay in a clean place) were fulfilled 100%. You can come back to the hotel at any time in the night, someone is always there waiting for you. Nevertheless, there are a couple of things one must know before making a reservation: you have to pay the WHOLE stay as soon as you arrive (!!!), a 4% is added if you pay with credit card, you have to pay up to 5 pounds per bag for luggage deposit, no lift of course, and you may have to climb up to five staircases before reaching your room. Hot water usually arrives but you have sometimes to be patient, breakfast is ok but it is kind of a circus exercise since the room is tiny and you have to share space with other people in a tetris-like fashion.

Notting hill gate hotel was perfect for our short stay. Location was great and the staff were very friendly. Room was clean and had everything we needed. The room was on the small side, so was the bathroom and breakfast room. ( this was not a problem but maybe anoying for longer stays). The room stayed hot as there was no aircon and you couldn't open the window as there was a bad smell outside. We payed for a double room and got a room with two double beds! Our room was in the basement therefore no view ( we paid a low price so did not expect more). Overall would reccomend for short stays or those on a budget.

This was my first time at the hotel, however i have stayed in a lot of hotels in london all on pleasure holidays, i got this hotel very cheap £33 for the room with breakfast(breakfast very good, but they need to look at getting a bigger room for it as only 6 tables for a 25 room hotel we went down at 8:30am with no tables so waited for ten mins to get a table.) I was not expecting much for the price but room had been refurbished and bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water, only complaint was the carpet was a bit grubby. We arrived at 10am and were able to leave our bags at reception until the room was ready(No 10) at 2pm. however we did have to pay £5 to leave bags on checkout. All in all a great little find for the price only 2 mins from tube 1 min from buses.

Stayed for 3 nights. Booked a double bedroom and mailded them that i liked a twin. Got a triple for the same price! Rooms are small, but clean and newly decorated. Stayed on the third floor, 84 steps up. Good for your condition! Breakfast sober but adequate, toast, jam, egg, serial, milk, coffee and thea. You might have to wait some minutes before there is room, for the breakfastroom is not the biggest.Busstop is arround the corner, buy a oystercard for 3 pnd and put some money on it. YOu can do that on the trainstation or in the shop around the corner. (also internetcafe!)Every trip will cost you 1 pnd, with maximum of 3,30 per day!Ideal!!Several busses go staight to the center or victoria-station. I would certainly stay in this hotel again, well cleaned and friendly people and location is great and quiet.

My wife, daughter and I stayed with our grandparents for four nights at Hotel Notting Hill Gate. In all we can recommend this hotel it was really worth the price we payed. Easy subway from Heathrow. The staff was (with one exception) both polite and service minded. (Especially during our incident when Grand Ma lost her purse in a taxi.) Please note there are a lot of stairs but no lift. Could be better: 1. The breakfast room was far to small! (Knock down the wall to room 6 to get a better breakfast room!) We had breakfast round the corner at Cafe Diana. Very nice. 2. Also the door key system failed at least once a day. A lot of running in the stairs. 3. They added 4% on payment with card (news for us) 4. In room 11 there was dirt in the roof (!) But still, we would stay at his hotel again if we return.

We would definitely recommend this hotel! Since we were in the city during the day and only returned to the hotel at night, the small rooms were totally fine. The breakfast is pretty simple but enough to start the day (we often went to Tesco, which is only 3 minutes from the hotel, to get some bagels). The staff is very friendly. When we checked in they gave us room 6, which is (as already said) right beside the reception, the breakfast area and the entrance. Everytime a new guest arrived we thought he would come right into our room. But we only had to "sleep" there one night since they immediately gave us another room (no. 17, very nice view but not very quiet either. I think, all of the rooms are pretty loud because the walls between two rooms are pretty thin. But don't worry: it's still possible to get some sleep) and we had a beautiful stay. To sum up, I can say that this hotel was really great and I am going to book it again! Just one advice: hands off of room 6!

We booked a double room and were fortunate to be upgraded to a bigger room with two double beds. A double bed in London standard is close to a full size bed in the US. The bed is very soft with dusty and coarse linens. The rooms are not well insulated and we were woken up by people's foot steps and talking outside. Bathroom is clean, new, small but adequate. The good news is that the reception has moved to the ground floor and you wouldn't need to climb 4 flights of stairs. Since we were there only one night, it was good for the price and the quality.

Fellows, At the website they show a double room, and it is what the picture shows. But as I was alone in this trip, they put me in a single room. Terrible !!! A 1x2meters room, without private bathroom and without heater. My first night of three was something awful!! I had to pay seven pounds more to change for a double room, that worth it. But this kind of problem shouldn´t happen. This kind of room mustn´t be offered. Nobody wants it. Anyone pays 7 pounds for a minimum confort and privacy! About the double room, it´s a good one for the price, a1though the number 20, at least, smells cigarrete.

Always a little nervous when staying in London 'budget' hotels, you normally end up paying a great deal for not much... However was very pleased with this hotel. Yes the room was small, but its in the centre of London at a reasonable rate so its going to be (and who spends a lot of time in their room in London??). Room was clean and extremely quiet (tip:request a room off the ground floor to avoid any tube noise), plenty of hot water too. Location a winner too: Right by Kensington gardens/Hyde park so a beautiful walk into London or two tude stations within 5mins inside zone 1. All in all excellent budget hotel. Would certainly recommend to friends and stay again!

Acutally we've never joined the breakfast at the Notting Hill Gate Hotel - so we can't rate it. But right at the corner in front of the hotel is this wonderful Italian restaurant, you really should try out! The stuff was quite nice but the software for the keycards was down and we've had our room on the 4th floor. So the stuff gave us a new card, which was unable to open the door, too. We've had to run down to the reception three times because the person didn't want to come up - that was really bad and unfriendly. Whatever, it was quite okay - tiny rooms, but nice and the bed was comfortable.

Newly redecorated hotel. We were lucky to get a newly refurbished and redecorated room in the basement and it was very clean and modern. The surroundings are excellent, Portobello Road is just round the corner and the area is very green and elegant (notting hill). The tube is just few steps away. The only downside is the breakfast room which is just behind the reception. It is really claustrophobic and you may need to queue to get a table. If you leave your bags to be looked after you pay £5. The staff is kind and helpful. Overall we would strongly recommend this hotel.

While the hotel was definitely clean - don't bring too much stuff - you couldn't swing a cat in the bedroom, no room for anything - and it was a double room!! Almost claustrophobic, we asked to get moved to a bigger room, but they never got back to us! And tight on towels (just one bath towel each and one hand towel - no bath mat or hand towel each). We had to ask for more towels and pillows. And I don't think I've stayed in any hotel which charge for paying by credit card.! But that said, great location!
