This was the first time and the last one in this hotel. It is really bad. Good the location but the bathroom was really the worst I have ever seen at a hotel,no room to move inside, the towels really bad,I didnt have a good stay there. I will never stay again at this hotel.

We were a group of 9 students and I have never stayed in a better hotel in London. It is standard, but clean and it has got a charming old-fashioned style. The hotel is situated only metres away from the tube station, but in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. Admittedly, the breakfast room is rather small, but early birds will not have to queue.

This was ideal for a 3 days stay in London. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable of any hotel I have stayed in recent memory. The bathrooms were clean and the bathtubs spacious and inviting. Shower pressure was excellent. The only drawback was the warm weather which made it necessary to keep the window open at night. There was alot of street and pub noise. Overall, I would stay here again.

Excellent location, some rooms can be a bit tight, but are clean. Staff ok English breakfast good. Overall could do with an up grade but that said a great place for a weekend break. I for one will be back P.s. Value for money compared with some hotels in London.

I have been to London 5 times. The price for the bedroom is to high because of the very small room, it was difficult to arrange with luggage and 2 person.

This hotel is ideal if you need to be in Paddington. It is about 100 yards from the station. It is a bit shabby but clean and the man on reception was very friendly. The lift wasn't working on June 10th. The double room I had was quite big and very clean. It was a bit noisy from the shower/bathroom fan from next door. The breakfast was very fast and OK but not special, however it was free!Overall I would recommend it if you need to stay in Paddington and don't want to pay too much - it was very reasonable.

It's almost perfect location to stay in London. You can take Heathrow express directly between the airport to here Paddington station, and also available to take 4 differnt of tube lines in this area such as Circle, District, Bakerloo, and Hammersmith & City. Breackfast was good. Room was clean enough. The only one thing, I should ask that if the room has a bath, not only shower room because it's important for Japanese to have relax while staying there.

We got what we expected. Thus no problem. We are happy. At the exception of the man who welcomed us at reception desk (as friendly as a prison gate), everything went well. Just for info, the lift still does not work (no issue for us since we travel pretty lightweight, but for the others .....)

First, let me say that the location is excellent. We are not difficult to please but I specifically booked this hotel because it listed an elevator. When we arrived, we were given a room on the top floor (4 floors up) and told that the elevator was broken. I understand that problems occur, but we booked our room months ahead of time and we were told that the elevator had been broken for a few weeks (not a last minute problem!). Someone should have notified us before our arrival. The bathroom also left a lot to be desired. Although I suppose it was technically clean, it looked horrible and looked very dirty due to very old flooring and old fittings. Finally, we booked a room for two adults and one child. I had specifically requested one large bed and one single bed. Our room had three single beds. Not satisfactory at all!

This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in!!! I will never stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone. The room they initially gave me was HORRIBLE!!! Room 412-avoid it at all costs! It had a strong musty scent, no windows and moldy walls! The heating was up so high I was sweating and carrying a terrible headache! The room was TINY - cld only fit a single bed infact when u opened the door it hit the bed. I couldnt get in with my suitcase at the same time. I mean I couldnt even begin to turn around in this place. The hotel lifts were broken and my room was on the 4th floor - they have very steep spiralling staircases and the place is like a MAZE! To get to my room I had to go up the stairs, down some staris, up again and then outside onto a bridge and then down some stairs...This is ridiculous! The room they initially gave be was HORRIBLE! I asked for a refund and so they offered to find me another room...It was cleaner, not much bigger, heating was still a problem, and when u put the light on in the bathroom it made a v.loud noise for upto an hr after switching off. You could only flash the toilet once and then had to wait a while before flashing again! If ur going to stay here, and i dont recommend it, avoid room 412 - no one in their right mind would want to stay in it. The staff were very friendly, but i'm afraid no amount of friendliness can ever make up for the hotels numerous ills!!!

Ths relatively small rooms were adequate for our needs. The breakfast was good and efficiently served. In spite of the fact that the rooms showed some wear and tear, they were clean, and the staff pleasant. The hotel is a few steps from Paddington Station, which made it easy to access all locations in London. We were extremely pleased with our visit to the Royal Norfolk.

We were transiting to Australia and the location for trains to Heathrow is good. The hotel layout resembles a rabbit warren and the lift was not working! As a couple we were allocated a room with a double bed. The room was microscopic in size - there was nowhere to put your baggage. The shower was so small you could not move to wash yourself properly. The licensing authorities should not allow this hotel to rent out rooms like this one as a double. Breakfast was adequate.

The location is excellent and works well for a visit to all of London (convenient to the underground and airport connections at Paddington). Overall, the hotel is charming and has the feel of older London. One suggestion is to update the carpeting - while clean, it detracts from the ambiance. Breakfast is included and good. Will stay there again.

This hotel is very convenient to Paddington Station. But don't plan to stay in it for more than one night. It's very noisy and the rooms are quite small. I stayed in London for 3 nights. The room i booked was a double bed as a single is just too small. The staff are unhelpful. The room was so small. Everytime i showered i flooded the bathroom as the shower stall must have been made for vertically and horizontally challenged people. The rating was a 3 star. I would give it a 1. At least in Canada, a 3 star enables you to sit on the toilet and be able to close the door.

I was really impressed with the accomodation, the rooms are very clean, neat and quite comfortable. Their winning english breakfast was delicious. Well, I need to say employees were all nice, kind and very helping. I have to thank all of them one by one. The rooms are quite small but absolutely clean. Well, it's noisy because of all restaurants around, tourists coming and going all the time... but I've slept very well all nights.:) The breakfast in my view was good. I still think the price was a bit high, but anyway, this is London and the service was good. You have access to metro, buses and Taxis very easily. An internet cafe is just on the other side of the street, and all kinds of restaurants are around. Bank and post office are also near. Overall, in comparison to the price you pay, this is a good hotel, yes, I'll come back there.

very clean rooms, 30 second walk to paddington station which is within a 10 minute ride to most major locations in London. Noise from the station was never an issue, beds were clean and comfortable. My room was extremely tiny! I've never seen such a small room ! The bathroom was extremely tiny. I was not able to have a shower because of missing of space! Moreover, the room was very noisy because of cars and people shouting all the time. The only positive thing was the position, close to Padding Station but that is not a problem in London. In conclusion, I don't recommend this hotel for your staying in London. Too expensive for what you get!

The room was facing the garbage dump of the Burger King with all sorts of fumes coming through. Close to Paddington station so one can feel the rattling of the trains going by from 5am until 2am. The toilet facility in the room was makeshift with a molded garbage can and even when I informed them to remove it, it was still there. Let's just say this is a hostel, good for hitch hikers travelling around who need a room for one night.

Room itself was not too bad, but the bathroom was really very very small. We have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this one is the smallest we have seen (like being in a caravan).

We had a good time! Nice spacious room, good beds and a nice bathroom. We were not bothered by noice from the train station even though we had the windows open at night. Nice breakfast room and friendly staff. Only comment: We were asked to pay for the entire stay when checking in, which was not mentioned anywhere when we booked the room. The smallest and most terrible bathroom I have ever seen. You actually cannot call that a bathroom, it was smaller than the closet and water was also coming up, toilet not working well. At first the light was not working in the bathroom also and telepnone not working the whole time. TV very poor quality and without remote control. And the worst thing - the room was smelling after some chemicals which made us dizzy and noone paid any attention to this - seemed that some chemicas were spayed against the insects outside our window.

I have nothing good to say about this hotel. From the moment I arrived the assistant made me feel unwelcome, I had heavy luggage which there was no one offering to help me with. To get to my room I had to travel to the 4th floor in a carpeted box which felt terribly un safe only to find I had to climb across the roof of the building to reach my own personal hell hole. The room(?) was litterally a bed and a wardrobe with about 2feet of space to manouvre in. It smelt like what I can only describe as an old man that had wet himself before dying in front of a fire. It was fly infested and provided no heating or hot water. Bathroom facilities provided dirty cracked tiles, mould in the grouting and towels that were 60 years old. The entire premises looked to have had no evidence of any maintanance carried out since the 1900's. I felt thoroughly unsafe throughout the night in this rikerty old building and did not sleep a wink for shivering. I arrived very late and very tired to this hotel/squat and was unable to find any other accomodation at this time, otherwise I would have fled. Never would I wish this experiece upon anyone. The pictures shown on the website are cleverly presented to disguse the hotels appauling state. I advise you to stay away.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels in London over the years, usually depending on the areas in London I am primarily interested in, whether it be sightseeing, shopping, visiting friends, etc. I have never had a worse experience than at the Royal Norfolk. The elevator wasn't working (I don't think it had worked for years). I had recently had knee surgery and decided not to let that postpone my vacation. I chose the hotel because of its location and because it had an elevator. My single room was tiny, which isn't a big problem. The carpeting was extremely dirty and stained. My bed had only the bottom sheet and a stained comforter. I asked for an additional bed sheet and slept without the comforter. The bathroom was one corner of the room and the shower was dirty. There was a sign on my door to make sure my door and window were locked when unoccupied. My window didn't lock. I told the manager upon arrival that I couldn't carry my luggage up the stairs and was told I would "have to wait 2 hours until a porter arrived" (this was at 3:00 in the afternoon). My breakfast was fine as I chose the corn flakes and yogurt. Those who chose the cheese and ham got the one slice of cheese wrapped in cellophane. Those who opted for the English breakfast could only have their eggs done one way. Unbelievable. Obviously, I would not recommend this hotel if I were paid to do so! Best to stick to tried and true hotels.

We stayed at the Royal Norfolk on the first night and the last two nights of a european vacation in July 2006. The first night, we were in a VERY tiny room (only one suitcases could be opened at a time) and the last nights the room was significantly bigger. bathrooms could be much better (toilets need to be flushed a few times, shower is a tiny in corner in the bathroom). There's no A/c but the windows open widely to let a breeze in. Couldn't be closer to paddington station! so convenient! Although the price was high for these accommodations compared to other cities, i think it would be hard to find better in london. breakfast is served by two waitresses (cheese and ham or corn flakes + tea/coffee + toast is included or you can upgrade to the englihs breakfast...not recommended!!!!) At the reception, you can buy tickets to sightseeing tours, and there are lots of info brochures as well. There is a lift, but unless you are in a very specific part of the hotel, you will have to go up and down many sets of stairs to reach your room....lots! both rooms had alarm clocks, phones and tvs. beds were comfortable. i would stay here again, and would recommend it to others, but warn them not to set their expectations too high. in the same neighbourhood are many other hotels featured on many budget hotel websites. compared to the others we walked by, this one looked like the nicest one (when we compared prices online, they all had about the same rate).

Our first impressions of our room was that it was too small for two persons. The bed filled almost the entire room. We also quickly noticed how filthy it was. There was dust all over, particularly in the window post and bathroom. Red wine or something similar was spilled both at the window post and the shelf under the mirror at the bathroom. The dining-room was always full and the queue outside was a bad joke. The breakfast was nice, but wasn't really worth the long wait. Our impression of the staff was that it consisted of inexperienced workers, mostly foreign students working there for the summer. Their knowledge of the surroundings was very lacking. Our room was supposed to be ready at 13:00, it wasn't. As the temperatures were high during our stay (up to 40 degrees celsius) air condition was sorely lacking, thus making it necessary to have the window open at all times. This meant that noise from the street and Paddington Station was heard constantly. There could at least have been a fan there, either standing or mounted in the roof. The advertised number of TV-channels was a pure lie. We had five (5) TV-channels, but NO REMOTE CONTROL. The WC was broken at the time of arrival, but with a bit of hassle it would eventually flush. The shower was not made for tall people and a thorough cleaning was clearly needed. The luggageroom was so tiny and cramped that it was a big undertaking getting luggage in or out. It would be a big lie to say that this hotel met our expectations in any way. If there is anything positive to say about this hotel and the service provided it must be that we got a refund of some amount for paying up front, we got clean towels every day and it's close to Paddington station if and when you want to escape (though you can't escape the noise from Pad. Station).

I waited long for checking-in as another customer occupied only one staff. It was hard to go to my room with heavy suit case, up and down trough the labyrinth. Besides those, I am satisfied with its good location and rather econimical rate.

Great Location, close enought to Paddington Station for a quick tube ride into the centre/major sites, etc. The rooms were small, and to be expected in London. Surroundings were better than expected. Stick with the free breakfast, the 2 pound upgrade to an "english breakfast" was not worth it. A shower curtain would have been nice. The staff were kind enough.

The hotel is advertising using a picture of its welcoming desk and I understood why. Actually, if they use a picture of the room I lived in, they will not have any new customer !!! Very small, very noisy as the train is close, hot as the window is small and the bathroom is ugly... Furthermore, the welcoming desk is really not friendly. Breakfast is common. I booked for 5 nights and fortunately I found another hotel ! I do not recommend this hotel !

Very friendly staff, we enjoyed at Norfolk. Rooms quite clean, every day, but small!Anyway it's the hotels' standard in London. We had english breakfast for a cheap price. Location is the best: Paddington...I like so much that place: every time I stay in London, always Paddington! See you next time Royal Norfolk ^____^

One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in, and most definitely the smallest bathroom I've ever seen. There was a strange smell in the room, like some sort of parfume was used in order to conceal a worse smell. We got a room on the corner of the building, so there were two quite noisy roads just outside the window. Hopefully, there are better rooms in the hotel. Good location, though, just a few metres from Paddington station.

Very convenient location to catch a train in Paddington station. Nice served English breakfast. If it can change into buffet served, it may be more efficient. Please hang out a clear sign with the hotel name for tourists.

Just around Paddington station and not half as loud as expected - although we had a room to the mnain street. Breakfast not as good as praised by others here but reasonable, clean room, relatively large compared to other London hotels and friendly atmosphere. I will return two weeks from now!

The hotel is next to subway. You will hear and feel a vibration of the subway until 0100am and again starting 0500am.One of the receptionist - Slovak ( we forgot his name) was very rude, and not helpful, passive -agressive attitude. The breakfast was very small, not enough for male travelers. The location was good for someone who wants to explore London. I would never recomend this hotel to my friends.

Our 3 member family stayed for 1 night inbound and after feeling OK booked for one more night on our return 4 weeks later. Our first night was Ok despite the extremely small lift and the limited storage area. This was in a standard room. Tiny but adequate. Our second night 4 weeks later was a different story. We had to go into the Mews, as there was no other room available, at a cost of 90 pounds. The Mews was hot and very uncomfortable despite the extra room. It was narrow, on 2 levels, and we heard the arrival and departure of every train in Paddington Station which lies beneath. We only got 2 hours sleep! It is not airconditioned and was very disappointing. The fridge froze up and kept the drinks warm instead of cold. The hot water ran out after 2 minutes and 12 hours later was still cold. All in all my advice is this: if you have to stay here make sure it's in the main hotel, never go to the Mews. Also the breakfast is only average, the bacon appears boiled instead of grilled. The WiFi Internet access costs 4.50 pounds an hour, so be careful. Price wise, London is expensive and so is the Norfolk.
