Possibly the worst London hotel experience I have had. Plus: clean, reasonable breakfast Minus: tiniest bathroom I have ever seen. I am 5'7" and slim - anyone else would not fit! Tiny TV, no on/off button or remote. Nowhere to leave a laptop. Wardrobe 15" wide, no hanger for trousers. Sticky door lock. Frosted glass windows on 2nd floor room.

4th floor without elevator ! it was not working and as the receptionist said will never be repaired, so please inform people on internet that the elevator is not existing ! Never seen a smaller bathroom before, have to leave the door open otherwise you have a clostrofoby crisis ! you can not even dress in the bathroom ...

London is expensive, but this hotel is a combination of several buildings. We had to go through a maze of hallways & stairways to get to our tiny, tiny room. Overall the room was clean, but old and very small with and even small bath. I'll look for different hotel next time

Shabby hotel in an interesting, but downscale neigborhood. Excellent access to all parts of London and points beyond due to proximity to Paddington Station. Tiny room with a miniscule bathroom. Noisy street below. Drunken quarrels by night most of the seven nights we spent here. Breakfasts were mediocre.

We are frequent guests. Thank you for arranging the same nice room to us every time! It makes us like coming back to home. However, just a gentle reminder - please fix the lift and install fan in rooms or guests would move to the new hotels nearby. The lift has been out of order for about two years. It is quite hot to stay in the room during summer (There is a cooler in the breakfast room and a fan at the reception, why not the guest rooms?).

The guy on the desk tried to charge me in advance for the stay even though the booking indicated payment after stay. He also seemed a bit hostile and unwelcoming. Then I was given a shoebox room on the 4th floor and there was no elevator operating in the hotel. It is nearly impossible to find your room in the maze of corridors and stair wells. There is no airconditioning (it was 26degC in London). In general the remaining staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is well located for transport and restaurants if a bit noisy due to the bars outside.

We had asked for rooms near to each other, we did that in september last year, but we got rooms far from each other! And they was not willing to change that at all. The first day we didn't get any cleaning, we had to ask for that. The stay didn't live up to our expectations

The best of it all is the location; next to tube station and overlooking a garden. the worst...the maze-like distribution of the rooms. it took us a while to find ours. i was relieved to see that other guests were wandering up and down the hallways searching for theirs. if you have problems in orientation, please avoid this hotel, otherwise it's fine but nothing to be very proud of. the multiracial staff does its best but still...we won't come back.

Small hotel in old building slightly run down. Rooms are rather small but clean and more than decent. 47GBP per night in a single room in London is very cheap and quality provided for it fair. Easy access to metro, buses and trains in Paddington, good location, lots of restaurants around. Breakfast served at the table, no buffet, 2GBP extra for Full English breakfast rather than Continental (it's worth it!). Will definitely come back for short stay, holiday related.

The room was tiny, and a little bit noisy because the underground station (Paddington) it was under ther hotel. But according to the price of London's hotels, it's a good place to stay. There was no lifts. The breakfast was OK. The personal is kind and the sourrondings of the hotel are very good, you have indian restaurants, burguer king, exchange shops, McDonalds, pubs, chinese food, moroccan food... and the underground in front of the hotel. I reccomend this hotel to young couples who are going to be in the room only to sleep. It's nice and very clean.

We were a group of 9 students and I have never stayed in a better hotel in London. It is standard, but clean and it has got a charming old-fashioned style. The hotel is situated only metres away from the tube station, but in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood. Admittedly, the breakfast room is rather small, but early birds will not have to queue.

This was ideal for a 3 days stay in London. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable of any hotel I have stayed in recent memory. The bathrooms were clean and the bathtubs spacious and inviting. Shower pressure was excellent. The only drawback was the warm weather which made it necessary to keep the window open at night. There was alot of street and pub noise. Overall, I would stay here again.

This hotel is ideal if you need to be in Paddington. It is about 100 yards from the station. It is a bit shabby but clean and the man on reception was very friendly. The lift wasn't working on June 10th. The double room I had was quite big and very clean. It was a bit noisy from the shower/bathroom fan from next door. The breakfast was very fast and OK but not special, however it was free!Overall I would recommend it if you need to stay in Paddington and don't want to pay too much - it was very reasonable.

It's almost perfect location to stay in London. You can take Heathrow express directly between the airport to here Paddington station, and also available to take 4 differnt of tube lines in this area such as Circle, District, Bakerloo, and Hammersmith & City. Breackfast was good. Room was clean enough. The only one thing, I should ask that if the room has a bath, not only shower room because it's important for Japanese to have relax while staying there.

First, let me say that the location is excellent. We are not difficult to please but I specifically booked this hotel because it listed an elevator. When we arrived, we were given a room on the top floor (4 floors up) and told that the elevator was broken. I understand that problems occur, but we booked our room months ahead of time and we were told that the elevator had been broken for a few weeks (not a last minute problem!). Someone should have notified us before our arrival. The bathroom also left a lot to be desired. Although I suppose it was technically clean, it looked horrible and looked very dirty due to very old flooring and old fittings. Finally, we booked a room for two adults and one child. I had specifically requested one large bed and one single bed. Our room had three single beds. Not satisfactory at all!

This is the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in!!! I will never stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone. The room they initially gave me was HORRIBLE!!! Room 412-avoid it at all costs! It had a strong musty scent, no windows and moldy walls! The heating was up so high I was sweating and carrying a terrible headache! The room was TINY - cld only fit a single bed infact when u opened the door it hit the bed. I couldnt get in with my suitcase at the same time. I mean I couldnt even begin to turn around in this place. The hotel lifts were broken and my room was on the 4th floor - they have very steep spiralling staircases and the place is like a MAZE! To get to my room I had to go up the stairs, down some staris, up again and then outside onto a bridge and then down some stairs...This is ridiculous! The room they initially gave be was HORRIBLE! I asked for a refund and so they offered to find me another room...It was cleaner, not much bigger, heating was still a problem, and when u put the light on in the bathroom it made a v.loud noise for upto an hr after switching off. You could only flash the toilet once and then had to wait a while before flashing again! If ur going to stay here, and i dont recommend it, avoid room 412 - no one in their right mind would want to stay in it. The staff were very friendly, but i'm afraid no amount of friendliness can ever make up for the hotels numerous ills!!!

Ths relatively small rooms were adequate for our needs. The breakfast was good and efficiently served. In spite of the fact that the rooms showed some wear and tear, they were clean, and the staff pleasant. The hotel is a few steps from Paddington Station, which made it easy to access all locations in London. We were extremely pleased with our visit to the Royal Norfolk.

We were transiting to Australia and the location for trains to Heathrow is good. The hotel layout resembles a rabbit warren and the lift was not working! As a couple we were allocated a room with a double bed. The room was microscopic in size - there was nowhere to put your baggage. The shower was so small you could not move to wash yourself properly. The licensing authorities should not allow this hotel to rent out rooms like this one as a double. Breakfast was adequate.

The location is excellent and works well for a visit to all of London (convenient to the underground and airport connections at Paddington). I stayed in London for 3 nights. The room i booked was a double bed as a single is just too small. The staff are unhelpful. The room was so small. Everytime i showered i flooded the bathroom as the shower stall must have been made for vertically and horizontally challenged people. The rating was a 3 star. I would give it a 1. At least in Canada, a 3 star enables you to sit on the toilet and be able to close the door.

Well, I need to say employees were all nice, kind and very helping. I have to thank all of them one by one. The rooms are quite small but absolutely clean. Well, it's noisy because of all restaurants around, tourists coming and going all the time... but I've slept very well all nights.:) The breakfast in my view was good. I still think the price was a bit high, but anyway, this is London and the service was good. You have access to metro, buses and Taxis very easily. An internet cafe is just on the other side of the street, and all kinds of restaurants are around. Bank and post office are also near. Overall, in comparison to the price you pay, this is a good hotel, yes, I'll come back there.

Very clean rooms, 30 second walk to paddington station which is within a 10 minute ride to most major locations in London. Noise from the station was never an issue, beds were clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful with providing tickets to the wax museum and were on time with the wake up calls. Only issue was the tiny rooms and tiny bathroom, but thats typical of London hotels.

The room was facing the garbage dump of the Burger King with all sorts of fumes coming through. Close to Paddington station so one can feel the rattling of the trains going by from 5am until 2am. The toilet facility in the room was makeshift with a molded garbage can and even when I informed them to remove it, it was still there. Let's just say this is a hostel, good for hitch hikers travelling around who need a room for one night.

My room was extremely tiny! I've never seen such a small room ! The bathroom was extremely tiny. I was not able to have a shower because of missing of space! Moreover, the room was very noisy because of cars and people shouting all the time. The only positive thing was the position, close to Padding Station but that is not a problem in London. In conclusion, I don't recommend this hotel for your staying in London. Too expensive for what you get!

Room itself was not too bad, but the bathroom was really very very small. We have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this one is the smallest we have seen (like being in a caravan). For breakfast you could choose between a continental or English breakfast. Both ok. Underground Station Paddington is only a minute away and there are enough restaurants around the hotel for dinner.

Excellent location for travelers; very close walk to Paddington station/Heathrow Express. The twin room we stayed in was small with a tiny shower room, but very clean. Breakfast area is charming, but the included breakfast is not great. Desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful.

Tiny hotel but comfortable. Breakfast not abundant (no buffet) but you can choose between English or continental breakfast. Cleanliness regular with change of bed sheets and towels. Its very quick and near to Paddington Rail Station and tube station, a lot of fast foods and steak houses near the hotel.

Very reasonably priced for triplet room during peak season and staff were very accomodating. Breakfast is included in the price and is served at your table. Reception is manned 24 hours a day so there is no problem with coming back late after gigs, shows etc.

We had a good time! Nice spacious room, good beds and a nice bathroom. We were not bothered by noice from the train station even though we had the windows open at night. Nice breakfast room and friendly staff. Only comment: We were asked to pay for the entire stay when checking in, which was not mentioned anywhere when we booked the room. However, as there were no problems during the stay we didn't pursue the matter. Nice hotel, would come again :-)

Ridiculously small room (and even more ridiculously small "bathroom") - but it was what I expected for the price.

Room was semi dirty and smelled strongly of smoke from prev guests. Bathroom TINY, hot water took a while to come. Good location though close to Paddington station. Breakfast decent. Ok for overnight stay but no more than that.

The smallest and most terrible bathroom I have ever seen. You actually cannot call that a bathroom, it was smaller than the closet and water was also coming up, toilet not working well. At first the light was not working in the bathroom also and telepnone not working the whole time. TV very poor quality and without remote control. And the worst thing - the room was smelling after some chemicals which made us dizzy and noone paid any attention to this - seemed that some chemicas were spayed against the insects outside our window.

This hotel was okay for a short stay of 1-2 nights, but would not be okay for a longer stay. The location was very convenient, being close to Paddington station. The room was small and the bathroom was very, very, very small! And it was up a step or two which made it potentially dangerous.

The location is great and the breakfast very good but our room was small and noisy as the train tracks from Paddington were nearby. I could only open my suitcase if it was on the bed. I had requested a double room but got a twin. However, for London on a budget it is probably the best around. I just made another reservation for this years trip

The Royal Nofolk could work on their hospitality towards their customers. It sometimes felt like we bothered them by asking for the key! Otherwise, the location was perfect and the room was ok. It was my first stay at the RN.

I have nothing good to say about this hotel. From the moment I arrived the assistant made me feel unwelcome, I had heavy luggage which there was no one offering to help me with. To get to my room I had to travel to the 4th floor in a carpeted box which felt terribly un safe only to find I had to climb across the roof of the building to reach my own personal hell hole. The room(?) was litterally a bed and a wardrobe with about 2feet of space to manouvre in. It smelt like what I can only describe as an old man that had wet himself before dying in front of a fire. It was fly infested and provided no heating or hot water. Bathroom facilities provided dirty cracked tiles, mould in the grouting and towels that were 60 years old. The entire premises looked to have had no evidence of any maintanance carried out since the 1900's. I felt thoroughly unsafe throughout the night in this rikerty old building and did not sleep a wink for shivering. I arrived very late and very tired to this hotel/squat and was unable to find any other accomodation at this time, otherwise I would have fled. Never would I wish this experiece upon anyone. The pictures shown on the website are cleverly presented to disguse the hotels appauling state. I advise you to stay away.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels in London over the years, usually depending on the areas in London I am primarily interested in, whether it be sightseeing, shopping, visiting friends, etc. I have never had a worse experience than at the Royal Norfolk. The elevator wasn't working (I don't think it had worked for years). I had recently had knee surgery and decided not to let that postpone my vacation. I chose the hotel because of its location and because it had an elevator. My single room was tiny, which isn't a big problem. The carpeting was extremely dirty and stained. My bed had only the bottom sheet and a stained comforter. I asked for an additional bed sheet and slept without the comforter. The bathroom was one corner of the room and the shower was dirty. There was a sign on my door to make sure my door and window were locked when unoccupied. My window didn't lock. I told the manager upon arrival that I couldn't carry my luggage up the stairs and was told I would "have to wait 2 hours until a porter arrived" (this was at 3:00 in the afternoon). My breakfast was fine as I chose the corn flakes and yogurt. Those who chose the cheese and ham got the one slice of cheese wrapped in cellophane. Those who opted for the English breakfast could only have their eggs done one way. Unbelievable. Obviously, I would not recommend this hotel if I were paid to do so! Best to stick to tried and true hotels.

Hotel staff can't find my booking when I checkin. Finally they gave me the room without window and it was a smoking room which was so disgussing! The set-up of the hotel is poor as too many different sections and narrow stairs which not convenient to carry large luggage to the room. Overall experience was very poor and would not recommend others to stay.

I will not stay there another time. We lived on the thrid floor, the elevator was out of order, we had to sit in the hallway to wait for a waiter to give us a table for 15 minutes even when we saw 5 avalable tables when we came in. the room were way too small and the bathroomfacilities even smaller.
