exterior - entrance
The Gloucester Place hotel is ideally situated in the heart of London's West End. It is literally two minutes' walk from the big stores of Oxford Street and is centrally located for sightseeing, visits to art galleries and museums
and close to London's theatre district.
It is a stone's throw from the capital's great parks and the renowned Harley Street.
Despite the proximity to the bustle of the big city, the hotel is very
quiet, being just across the road from the peaceful garden of Portman
Square. The property has recently been fully renovated and offers a high standard of service.

Nice pleasant "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" kind of hotel. Fair deal ....

no attention given to e-mail sent to the hotel (requested a room with not having to climb too many steps because of a bad knee, I was given a room at the one but last stairs). Not received an official invoice, they could not get the debitcard to work and therefore I had to pay an additional three (3) pounds for creditcard payment. But what can you expect for 50 GBP? Bathroom was a few steps up opposite the corridor. A lot of flies in the room when I arrived but when the window is kept shut, you can keep the room free of flies (after a good hunt ;-) Breakfast was better than expected, very simple breakfast room but (boiled, scrambled of fried) eggs are included in the free continental breakfast!

We booked at this hotel with trepidation after reading the reviews from 2006, but much has changed since it was taken over by new management approx 2 months ago. After a 6-day stay, it felt like home! It is so central, but we requested a quiet room at the onset. My husband and I could not believe that we were getting such quality for our money. The management and staff were friendly, polite and eager to help in any possible way. It is true that the breakfast room is small but the food and service compensated for that. Our spacious room and facilities were cleaned each morning and believe it or not - the day before our departure, we found a large portion of fruit salad in our fridge to say "Goodbye". We say "We hope to return, and will certainly recommend The Gloucester Place Hotel to our friends." Thank you Venere

broken fittings,(toilet seat, wardrobe door) no plugs in sinks, no hot water for shower, no mirror in room, one room not ensuite - bathroom was across corridor. no lift, 7 flights of stairs to room. Surly staff and no reception - altogether a very poor experience. would have moved hotel if another had been available

Generally excellent - but ... There was no plug in the sink, even though we asked for one. Better signage to Reception is needed on both sides of the doors. Room wasn't ready at 1 o'clock, which website and notice in Reception promised. We were given complimentary coffee while we waited (room was ready by about 1.40 p.m.). Service at breakfast was a bit slow. Staff are generally obliging and the hotel isn't too noisy considering its situation. Decor and facilities are good.

Broken windows, the room was too small for two persons, it didn't correspond with the pics.It was too expansive for what we got

I went to London for to days and a night with my boyfriend so I think that this hotel was enough for us. The bedroom was really big, and so was the bathroom, but it was a bit old so that made us dislike a bit the room. In general I liked it (maybe not to stay a hole week but for a couple of days its OK. The bad thing of it was that our bedroom was number 3 and it was just infront the street, so the car noise was a bit too loud. The breakfast was OK, not too assorted but enough.

Simply a good B&B! Helpful staff: we arrived an hour before check-in time, but were nevertheless given a key and kindly allowed to leave our things in the room. Unexpected bonus: not only there were tea/coffee facilities, but also a bottle of water and even some juice in a fridge. We were also surprised that they had options of both continental and English breakfast. Good price/quality ratio, central location, a quiet room (ours did not face the rather busy street outside the hotel). We spent one night there, will probably return again and will surely recommend this B&B to others.

Especially the rooms at the backside of the hotel are very quiet and recommendable.

Simple, clean - fairly basic - staff welcoming. Walls a bit thin so some noise from others coming in and out. Good restaurant and breakfast - prompt and efficient.

Hotel de 3 estrellas, pero que no se merecia ni una, avejentado, estrecho y bastante descuidado en general, muchos desperfectos, tanto en habitaciones como en baños. Bien situado , al lado parada autobus, y personal correcto. No lo recomendaria.

The price is right but the front rooms in which we stayed were noisy because they fronted the street. We've stayed in London many times and have yet to find a B&B that balances reasonable prices with a decent location, quiet, clean rooms and good service.

Gloucester Place is a very noisy street, with a lot of traffic. The room has not enough insulation. Rest was OK for the price.

Great breakfasts, poor furniture & service. hotel needs internal maintenance, beds&covers, chairs, bathroom, nil water pressure, poor management/PR skills(not English). Otherwise great location, close to tubes,Hyde Park, pubs, deli's & places to eat, had a ball it's typically London

The hotel is very noisy, the windows did not shut properly to keep out street noise, no lift, and despite recent painting the job is very slapdash . English breakfast and breakfast service really good.
