Hotel Reviews The Gainsborough
Single traveller
Germany, Jul 2009
I was in London for a short holiday. The room was far too small and looked shabby. The bathroom and the bed linnen were clean. They used a strong perfumed air refreshener that was so richly used I got a headache from it. I asked the receptionist to stop using the spray but it didn't get through to the housekeeping service.

It would be time that they update there bedspreads, or at least clean them. The balance was satisfactory.

The room was very small and the cupboard was useless. It was very noisy because the windows are very old. there was no differece between opened and closed windows.

We had a nice stay but it's definately not a four star hotel. When we booked we thought it was expensive but we didn't mind since the hotel is in a nice neighbourhood and rated four stars. Nevertherles, our room was small, with only one window with a view to a school yard. The noise level from the room above was unacceptable. Their movements made our lamp shake as if there was an earthquake! We don't think the price is acceptable compared to the prices listed at the front desk.

We had one employee who helped us that was outstanding. All others, we had difficulting in communicating with due to the lack of their command of english. Also, rooms were not air conditioned, making it very uncomfortable.
