The location was excellent and convenient for subway travel. Our big disappointment was the tiny room provided. Seeing the picture of the nice deck off the room in the on-line pictures pursuaded me to spend more than usual to end our trip to England. When we were taken to our room, not only did it not have a deck; it was barely larger than the queen sized bed which filled it! We then shortened our stay from 4 days to 2 days and, upon checking out, we had 20% added onto our bill since only stays of 3 days or more gave us our original rate...again a disappointment paying over $300 per night. The photos need to show what "typical" rooms look like.

My daughter and I stayed here during the last week in June, when the front desk attendants were very professional, efficient, helpful, kind, and polite. I chose this hotel for my daughter and her friend for 5 nights during the beginning of August. This time the front desk attendant (different person)was rude and did not get the air conditioning in their room fixed until the 3rd day. These were very hot days in London. I sent an email about it to the address printed on the website, and have not yet heard a reply, although the AC was fixed finally. Other than this person's manner and the AC being out in their room which was a significant negative, the hotel was great.

We stayed in Sydney House Chelsea for 4 nights, our entire stay in London, and loved our room and bath. The reviews from previous guests were spot on. We were happy with the cleanliness and comfort of our room and the hotel, manner and helpfulness of the staff, location of the hotel, safety and security, and quality of the food in its little restaurant. The room was very neutral in color and modern in decor, so I bought some fresh tulips from the vendor just outside the South Kensington tube station, which added just the amount of color and the pretty touch we needed. The existence of both opaque and translucent window shades was a nice combination. Yes, the lift is tiny, but it was not a problem, and we were happy for its existence. The staff was charming, pleasant, and proficient. We will definitely stay here again.

If you want to find a really nice hotel in one of London's prime locations, look no further. Sydney House Chelsea gives you access to the amenities of both Chelsea and South Kensington. The hotel is not purpose-built, it is a conversion of several Georgian terraced houses, located in a quiet street. Rooms are smallish (hey, that's London, all right?) but nice and stylish (nice blend of the modern with the traditional). Service is excellent, staff very friendly and forthcoming. As a bonus, you have a very good Thai restaurant on the corner, don't forget to book, as it is always full. This is our place in London, no doubt.

1st visit to London. Hotel was a short walking distance to Metro which allowed us to travel everywhere. Two good restaurants next to hotel. Staff was wonderful, service was fast. Our room was quite small, but the bed well dressed and comfortable. The shower gave us some problems in that the showerhead was so high we could not adjust its position. We would stay again and recommend it to others.

Great location if you are looking for a quiet corner of London that is readily available to all the major sights. Staff was helpful and courteous; rooms were clean (if small). Breakfast (while not included in the price of the room) was very good and a good value relative to eating out.

A lovely hotel in a quiet area, close to the restaurants and shops of both South Kensington and Chelsea. Rooms were small, as expected (hey, this is London after all). Very friendly service, nice atmosphere. Don't expect anything grand - this is a very nice hotel with good, unassuming design. We will definitely stay at this hotel next time we are in London.

I stayed 2 nights in the hotel. It's very well located, closed to bus stop and underground. Friendly staff at reception and very good service at restaurant for the breakfast. The hotel is very charming and design. The only problem : there is no mini bar (but room service works 24/24)and the duvets are too short.

Nice Place, staff were excellent. Being Chelsea it is pricey, and the rooms are probably even small by London standards. Still, I would stay there again and would recommend to friends.

This hotel is probably the best we have ever stayed at. The staff was very informative and helped us book tickets for a show we wanted to see. The room was very nice and comfortable. Everything was fantastic making our trip one to remember. Thanks to the staff for everything.

Excellent place. Rooms are very comfortable and silent, though a bit small. Good service. Quiet neighborhood. Great restaurants (Italian + Thai) in the corner. Expensive, but...that's London :-)

Overall are excellent except the price comparing to the size for the hotel. Especially for people who are not using GBP, it comes really expensive after exchange rate. Perhaps for international customer, the price is better to be lower.

We were traveling to Europe for our wedding and honeymoon. Sydney House was our first stop. We arrived jet lagged and exhausted. The staff was courteous and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and comfortable even though not vast. The location can't be beat...close enough to downtown and tourist destinations, but far enough away to feel remote and quiet. We would definitely visit again.

Room was small - although by general London standards - but well designed to take best advantage of space available. Service of staff etc was excellent and the location was just great. On the whole I would recommend strongly.

Sydney House is very well situated being only 400 metres from the shops and restaurants of Kings Road, and in the other direction, an easy 10 minute walk to South Kensington station. Our room was the smallest on the floor but impeccably presented, ultramodern and super-clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Had we stayed there longer I'm sure we would have used the bar and lounge area on the ground floor as it looked lovely. We didn't have breakfast there as we thought it a bit too expensive at 10 pounds for a bowl of cereal and toast.

This has to be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in in terms of style and comfort, and I have stayed in a lot! We did get the room at a discounted rate however and I am not sure it would have been worth the full £175 per night price, but then again not much is. The DVD player and rental service in every room was a bonus that we did not know about but unfortunately didn't get time to use. I will definitely use this hotel again next time I am in London.
