First room proposed was so small there was no room to put bags down. Helpful receptionist changed for another - room now for bags but with small bed. No soap in room (let alone shampoo etc). Top missing on lavatory cistern. Next room divided by only a (closed) door - beyond which yelled noisy neighbours. Not what one would expect for around £100/night even in an expensive hotel city like London. Not to be repeated - would not have stayed a second night.

Not value for money. Cleanliness was bad, the toliet did not even have a curtain for the tub and shower. Breakfast room was cramped and unclean, although menu was OK. The staff was friendly and changed our room from basement to 1st floor with better space. Internet was free. Close to tube-3 minutes walk.

This has been the second time that mi wife and I stayed at the St. Simeon hotel. We found everything as reviewded by the customers. The accommodation is all right but the rooms are too small. We were unable to move around at the same time. The breakfast was more than enough, we got plenty of food.

Personnel accueillant. La chambre ne sentait pas très bon un jour sur deux (?), mais quartier calme et bien situé. Petit déjeuné généreux mais pas très fin... Le chocolat chaud et le jus d'orange sont à éviter au profit du thé. Cuisine à disposition.

Stayed in a 6 beded room. A bit skeptical because of the mouse traps but otherwise clean. Very pleased to have a balcony. Bathroom quite small - shower was a bit of a let down as end of shower kept coming off - quite hilarious for the kids! Lift to floor staying on was a blessing as was travelling with stroller. Breakfast was 'full-on' never ending - not used to food cooked with so much oil/butter. Didn't use the communal kitchen cos surface area was not inviting.Small fruit flies flying around. Area very quiet. Bar fridge in room clean. T.v great reception. Wi-Fi worked and didn't have to pay for it. Checked in and checked out with ease. 6 min walk to train station and local eatery/bars. I don't believe we could of gotten better value for money for the size of group we were (6 pep's) and the area that we stayed in.

we apreciate the free kitchen, it's so difficult to eat in london! breakfast is not very good (industrial backery and butcher) but it's really generous, and there's a lot of fruits. The dinning room is convivial. The welcomming and the staff are very cute and helpful.

This place is a gem! The people running the place were just fantastic and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Lots of great benefits for staying here plus a great location .. Would really recommend this to anyone. We would not stay anywhere else in London now!

Excellent location for last minute booking and cheep. With more time in advance - you will find B&B for better prices. Excellent location for London explorer because public transports. Quiet, nice Place. Very friendly people. Furniture rare and in very bad conditions. Beds are excellent and large. Bathroom in summary between unusable and not appropriate. Had tricky shower with counted water drops - one time without worm water. Women's hair washing is challenging(we had 2 womans and one man). Hotel's dining room and kitchen not as expected and far away from known standard. But to keep fair - London is the expensivest City in Europe. Based on exchange rating - Switzerland might be the cheapest option.

This hotel should not be listed on Venere. We were moved 3 times. The second time, there was a gas explosion on the room next to us. There was a water boiler they were having problems with, they lit up a match, and it exploded, we were woken up at 2 a.m. by a huge explosion. There was no hot water, the entire stay was absolutely disturbing. Not one person needs to be referred to this hostel anymore. It is not a hotel.

Super nice staff, excellent price for simple, clean hotel room; Upon arrival just before 14h room not ready but offered fruit, cake and tea which was quite welcome; Pillow was very hard and bathroom tiny, but it didn't matter as we were so happy to have a clean room!

My daughter (19) and I stayed in the St.Simone Room 22, December 5-7, 2007,and this is what we found: A modest, clean hotel, very well located, with a lot of character. The room we had was really tiny, with an equally tiny bathroom, but it was clean, linens were worn but clean, mattress firm enough,TV worked for local stations. Room was very warm, but window opened easily. We were constantly asked to tell the staff if there were any problems, and they would take care of it. They are in the process of installing an elevator at this time. The owner and staff are the really bright part of this hotel. We were early in arriving and John escorted us downstairs to the breakfast room where he offered us fruit and more fruit. Then thanked me when I ate some! It seems he or someone in the family has a fruit and flower business so there is all this fruit available and there are fresh flowers around. We could have eaten bananas, pears, persimmons, mango, melon and there was even raspberry juice. I am sure the selection varies, but this is graciously offered until 9pm every evening, along with tea and coffee. There is a full English breakfast, with eggs prepared nicely. If you were travelling solo, you couldn’t feel lonely in this lively breakfast room. You can’t come here and expect a 5-star hotel, but I don’t think you can find a better value.

Small room, bathroom not clean, bed not comfortable and bed covers are at the limit of the cleanliness Walls very thin : you're waken up by neighbours leaving and coming in their rooms. Common area are the kitchen and the TV room. The common Kitchen is hygienically awful : Shelves and the plates available inside are incredibely dirty, then everybody's cooking its own food without washing dishes...the vision when you are entering inside this kitchen is a real nightmare, I don't have enough words to explain it ! We decided to go out and take our breakfast inside a pub. Even if we'll won't go back anymore inside this hotel (incredibely expensive for the quality inside), let's finish positively by speaking about the surroundings. We really enjoyed our stay in London ri-discovering this wonderful city, its shops and its restaurants. The zone where the hotel is located is really calm and very close to a Subway station the ideal way to go quickly in the different zones of the city. Moreover, we found a small supermarket close to it with typical english food and some pubs that hopefully saved our breakfast !!

Based on comments from others, we were expecting a lot worse. The location is excellent - very close to the tube. The staff were very welcoming and friendly (presenting us with a big plate of fresh fruit when we arrived). The room was very basic, but adequate. The double bed mattress was a bit lumpy, and the shower flooded the tiny bathroom floor. The bedding was old but seemed clean. We were just pleased to have found a reasonably priced hotel in the area at the last minute, and we got a good night's sleep. The breakfast is copious.

The only good thing about this hotel is their location, a star location. It is very close to the tube station, Gloucester Road station, only about 3 blocks away. And there are many restaurants, bars, and a supermarket nearby, 5 minutes walk. The service was ok. The amenity was terrible. The bed I stayed on my first night had a hollow in the middle, extremely uncomfortable. Luckily, we were changed to another room next day. I also had a very bad next room neighbor that night, banging and kicking the door like crazy in midnight and 3 o'clock in the morning. Because all rooms are much closed to each other, it felt like he is banging our door. Giving the price for the hotel, all I can say is you get what you pay for.

Food was well prepared and plentiful, with far more than you could eat for one meal.Use of the kitchen to cook your own food for the rest of the day was a great bonus. Snacks were always available. The room had basic needs, was clean with wastepaper bins and bathroom cleaned daily. On the negative side no choice of room, with 90 steps from lobby to bedroom, 107 from dining-room; no elevator. I'm 65 years old but enjoyed the exercise, others may not. This should be mentioned in the ad.Dining-room more like a high priced hostel. Loved my stay here and would definately stay again. Staff was great. Wonderful value for the money.

It was my first visit to London on my way back to the US. St. Simeon is good for tourists who need a bed to rest after a long day visiting London. which I did. The reception staff was welcoming and the cleaning lady, Anna, very helpful. My en-suite room was clean, though small. I may stay there again.

We took a short trip to London for a wedding and chose this because it was near the venue. It was what we expected from the small number of reviews on Venere. The room was small, but we did have a toilet and a shower, which is what we mostly wanted. The breakfast was okay - English or just toast and fruit, if you want. The servers were very nice, as well as the front desk attendants.

This hotel is the dirtiest most run-down hotel I have ever had the miss-fortune to stay in. The rooms were a disgrace, bed linen unclean & un-ironed. The pillows were absolutely filthy & covered in stains. On return to the hotel in the evening we found beetles in the bathroom & on the bed which we can only assume were cockroaches. After trailing the streets of London looking for another hotel (unsuccessfully) we had to go to a 24-hour supermarket to buy new bed linen. This establishment should be closed down.

Our stay at the St. Simeon was overall excellent! We didn't have very high expectations, since we had to book the room at the last minute (because the Abcone cancelled our room four hours before our flight), and the St. Simeon is only a one-star hotel -- but we were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel is in the process of renovation from a hostel/rooming house to a regular hotel, so the rooms are either great (newly done) or pretty shabby (not done yet), but our room was large, clean, and fairly comfortable except that the mattress was old and lumpy. When I complained about the bed, the hotel owner told me he'd buy a new mattress, and we were offered a choice of another room. We liked our room better, though, and I thought that was the end of the matter... but a few days later, our new mattress arrived! So I'd like to send a special thank you to the owner, John, who was very sweet and is obviously dedicated to making his hotel an outstanding success. The staff were delightful, too -- many thanks to Alexander for help with the luggage (there is no lift) and to Anna for her bright smile every morning as she piled our plates high with ham, bacon, and eggs for a fabulous and very, very ample English breakfast. She was always at hand offering more toast or pastries or fresh fruit. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again on our next visit to London! Oh, and did I mention that the St. Simeon is in a residential district in the heart of South Kensington? It's very quiet even on the street side, but only two blocks from the Underground, local grocery stores, and restaurants. It's also an easy walk to Victoria and Albert Museum, Hyde Park, the Museum of Natural History (Dinosaurs!), and High Street shops including Harrods. For price versus friendly service and superb location, you can't beat the St. Simeon!

I am a frequent traveler and I can assure this is the worst hotel I have stayed in my life. It is quoted in the web page as a three star but it is not even one star. When I told this to the employees they said they didn´t know anything about a web page because their hotel is not a stars hotel. The rooms are really small, dirty, hairs on pillow and really old linens, the shower was broken, the tv didn`t have a remote control. As for the hotel, it is old, dingy, dark, badly taken care of, obviously there is no elevator so you have to carry your luggage, the man who checked us in was wearing shorts and a sweaty t-shirt...I don´t have anything nice to say about the hotel. I was supposed to stay for two nights but I only stayed for one. In the morning when I told them I was leaving the employee got really mad and was super rude. They kept our money for the two nights, there was no need to get mad or offensive!! I had used this web page before and usually they were right on track, but when it comes to this hotel they were way off which really dissapointed me because I had a horrible experience that I could have avoided if the information provided had been accurate.

We came to London for 4 days (3 nights). The hotel localization is very convenient : close to underground stations, very quiet neighbourhood (South Kensington, Chelsea). The employees have a very friendly welcome. The proposed services are good. Our room was very very little but it was what we were expecting to ... for London ! The bathroom was clean but we got a power cut. The did not make the bed everyday. If you plan to spend sometimes in London looking for a "cheap" hotel, it could be a good investment.
