Exactly as described - clean, friendly, terrific location. Internet was fast and no drops. Lighting was good for working on computer and/or reading. Breakfast was well-cooked (not greasy) and fast! Yes, my room was small (but well laid-out) and the amenities are basic, but unless you're planning on spending inordinate amounts of time in your hotel room, this is everything you need.

relatively good value for money thanks to the hotel surroundings. The hotel is at a walking distance from the british museum ,oxford street and saint pancras. The twin room we got was quite spacious although the bathroom was tiny. Definitely enough for short stays.

Hotel has the charm of a 1960s Socialist boarding house. Not recommended. Room was tiny, dirty, full of broken old furniture and missing light fittings. No lift - so we lugged everything up and down 4 flights of rickety stairs. Communal areas and carpets dirty and very worn, bathroom tiny and worn out. The room faced the street and was incredibly noisy (traffic) so we had to sleep with the window closed, but it was unbearably stuffy and hot, since there is no aircon (or heating) in the room. Everything in the place has been done on the cheap: bedding was one worn old woolen blanket. Toiletries consisted in a plastic disposable cup and small bar of no-name soap. Breakfast, in a cellar room, was staffed by Russian students who tried and failed to be friendly. Food was awful (packaged plastic cheese, no buffet, just ask and hope to receive) - glad we skipped it on the second morning. The owner was nice though, and stored our luggage without complaints. Location is good - everything else is miserable. Much better places to stay in London than this.

We have passed a very good weekend in London staying for only one night in the hotel. The room was very nice, everything was clean. I loved the water boiler and some teabags which were in the room to our free service! Also the breakfast was homemade and very tasty. We arrived at the St. Pancras railway station and walked to the hotel. It was about 20-25 minutes to walk. The British Museum is only about 5 minutes by feet. And it took us about an hour of nice walking to get to the Big Ben. We really enjoyed staying in this hotel, everything was fine (well, it is expensive compared to other cities, but it is London and it was a good place to stay in London).

family of three, travelling as tourists. excellent location, very friendly and helpfull staff, very good breakfast without waiting time. Three stars are correct, good standard in that. the room itself was small, almost no place for three suitcases. the bathroom had about the spaciousness of one in a rv. You had to suck your stomach in to enter it. It was clean, but I didn`t like to look at the "wet-air-ventilator" at the ceiling. Unfortunately I forgot to tell the staff myself that the windows should be cleaned quickly. Nevertheless we recommend Regency House and would come again any time.

My wife and I were on a round the world trip and so have heavy suitcases. We had to carry them up 3 flights of stairs without help. The room was cold. I phoned down at 10,30 pm to be told that "it was too late to turn on the heating". I asked for blankets and was told none were available. 30 mins later the receptionist found some and brought them to us. The bathroom was tiny and the shower child sized. Smaller than a telephone kiosk. The toilet was difficult to flush. When checking out, the credit card machine did not work. I did a manual credit card payment with the old fashioned sliding machine but that was not enough for them. We had to phone the bank in Australia for clearance. After 30 minutes on the phone I gave up and went out to an ATM to get cash to pay my bill. The hotel appears to be run by a family. I would say, they bought the business as an investment, but have never stayed at a hotel in their lives. They have no idea what hotel guests could normally expect from a hotel. On the plus side the hotel has a great location.

The main quality of this hotel is definitely its location, very close to Oxford Street, Shaftesbury Avenue etc ... and just a few minutes' walk from a tube station. Apart from that, it is rather ordinary, and has neither reception nor lift. We had breakfast in a dull cellar while the hotel has a beautiful - but not very well maintained - garden that would be perfect when the weather is nice, as it was when we were there. The landlady, although not very smiling, is quite accomodating, actually. As to the price it is, of course, much too expensive, just like many things in London.

This hotel has the best location in London if you want to live near West End (Theatre-Land) and Soho. Small rooms and tiny bathrooms like most hotels in London offer. Relatively clean rooms, but be sure to book a room with private bathroom! Surroundings are noisy, so remember to bring ear-plugs if you want to sleep well. I've stayed here 3 times, and because of the brilliant location I plan to stay here again.

Breakfast was wonderful, the staff spoke English and were extremely polite, welcoming and helpful. They offered to let us check out late so we wouldn't have have to go to Heathrow too early. The room was plain and very noisy (we were facing the street), but it was spacious and very clean. The bathroom with shower was very nice. It seemed like a lot of money for what we got but compared to prices within London for all hotels, it was reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to others with the advice they ask for a room NOT on the street. Not too far is a Sainsbury grocery, an Italian restaurant named Ask (which had good food at moderate prices), and an internet cafe (one hour online for one pound).

Excellent location for either walking or to the Underground. Several good restaurants and internet cafes nearby. Room is nice and spacious only wish the bathroom was a little bigger. Noise from the street below was a little much for me, my husband was not bothered. Walls were a little thin, had to ask neighbors to keep it down. They offer a hearty breakfast, which you will need for a day of wondering through the city.

We chose this hotel over other London hotels available in Venere principally because of the number of ratings and the positive comments. We stayed for 3 nights during December. The real property did not match the hotel photos as is very often the case with hotel photos. The hotel is small and set in an endless row of equally small hotels/b&b. Gower Street leads up to Euston railway station and is very busy all day and most of the night. The hotel is very close to a Tube station. For those not afraid of a little walk Leicester Square is 20 minutes down the road. You can walk from and to most London attractions within 30 mins. We asked specifically for a room towards the back, the "garden" of the hotel. These rooms are much quieter than the ones facing Gower Street, in fact our number 4 room was very quiet. The furniture had seen better days, but apart from the bedspread everything was clean. The bathroom is really tiny but functional. The windows are old and single pane. Very cold in the winter, especially with the heating broken, which happened on the first night, but was repaired the second. The staff is very nice and always willing to help. The breakfast room looks like a works cantine and is always just that little bit too cold for comfort in winter. The English breakfast is basic, but you get excellent toast and jam, and cereals, and you can always ask for another helping. Overall a positive experience, especially considering London hotel standards generally.

When we arrived at this hotel late in the evening we were shocked that there was no reception desk or public area. The receptionists was in a cubby hole under the stairs in the basement. We were on the fourth floor and there was no lift. The toilet in the ensuite did not flush and it was tiny. I was staying with my sister and there was a double bed and a tiny single bed in the room. We actually checked out immediately and used the lack of water in the cistern as our excuse for our hasty retreat. There was a World Trade Fair on in London so finding another Hotel proved very difficult but I was very unhappy with the Regency Hotel. I think it should not be called a "Hotel" A "B & B" would be more appropiate for what they had to offer.

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay here. As in most foreign hotels, the bathroom was small but that is not an issue for us. The location was ideal as we were a couple of blocks away from two metro stops and could walk easily to the British Museum and get by metro to numerous other locations. Very safe area for walking around and just a couple of blocks away was a street of excellent and varied resturants. Breakfast was typical English breakfast--fried egg, ham, sausage, grilled mushroom, tomato, beans, toast. Staff helful and friendly. Just be aware there is no lift so it that is an issue, be sure and ask for a ground floor. We had room two, facing a back garden. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This is a reasonably priced & well located hotel. OK the rooms are on the small side - especially the bathroom and there isn't a reception as such. For a 2 night stay it was just what we needed - convenient to the sights, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were generous & we found the staff most accomodating & helpful. They were very happy for us to store our luggage for hours on our last day. In short, a good value hotel for independent travellers not looking to be pampered.

Andateci!

The hotel is actually a Bed & Breakfast. The entire space including my room on the first floor smelt of a fired breakfast - and I arrived at 10.30pm!! My room was onto Gower street and although a realitively quiet street by London standards the street traffic was very nosiy and woke me repeatedly throughout the night. The room was basic but fine but in need of redecoration. The location is great.

Idea for a short stay in London. Hotel is in a good location, close to Euston Station, walking distance to Oxford St, Leicester Sq & Covent Garden etc. Also close to Goodge St Tube Station. We had a triple room which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good choice at breakfast. The only drawback was the very small size of the bathroom (which was ok for a short stay) and there is no lift which could be a problem for some visitors. Overall we felt it was good value compared to the prices of other hotels in central London and would be happy to stay there again.

The stay ay Regency House was an exceptionally good surprise to me! I stayed just one night at weekend, but I was welcomed so warmly, I was offered to choose from number of rooms, although I was already quite satisfied with the first choice (the owner insisted I should try others, and indeed there was an even better room - quite, watching the garden), I asked a favor - not trivial - to let friends of mine who were passing Saturday morning with me in London to leave their luggage, and the owners full heartedly agreed, and even helped them carry the luggage! This was a stay to remember - so different from all my previous memories in London. I can't think why not staying there whenever there is a room available.

Before arriving in London, I had heard horror stories about London hotels. However, I found Regency House to be welcoming and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The location of the hotel is excellent (5 mins distance to a tube station and near cafes, restaurants and stores) and the area is a safe one. Our room was absolutely huge (we got a triple room instead of a double). Although the bathroom was small it was manageable. I'd like to thank the lovely staff at Regency House for their fantastic breakfasts as well (toast, cereal, bacon, baked beans, eggs, sausages, juice, coffee, tea).

Loved this hotel. It was our first trip to England and I had heard stories of the unimaginably small rooms in Europe. Not so here. The room was adequate size, very clean. The staff was helpful and gracious. The English breakfast every morning was essential to start out the day. Great location, but I would ask for a room at the back, not facing Gower Street, if you need complete quiet to sleep. I would reccomend this hotel without hesitation, especially for first time visitors who may be overwhelmed with the choices and want to operate within a modest budget.

Staff did not speak english well & the 'manager' was disorganised. We avoided breakfast as the facilities were poor. Location was excellent and room was clean, comfortable & spacious. This hotel is an ideal place to stay for 1 or 2 nights in London (we would probably want a little more luxury for a longer stay). It is ideally located for shops, theatres, tubes and Eurostar (which was our purpose for travelling to London). There's a lovely garden on the back of the house so if you have a room there, it's really quiet. The bathroom was tiny but if you live in a big city you won't be surprised.

Ok, its London, you pay a lot and get a little. But I have to admit I expected more after reading the other reviews. Its not bad but not as good as I had hoped. Staff is very nice (except the night clerk who almost wouldn't let me in). It was generally pretty clean by London standards. But all and all I would probably spend more money and not stay here again.

We had a great stay at Regency House. The owner was friendly, and the breakfast (included in the price) was great. It's in a residential area, so fairly quiet at night. The only minor gripe we have is the bathroom is very small... it was hard to get into the shower without squeezing in one corner and then close the bathroom door. This is certainly not a 4 or 5 star hotel... but as tourists, you spent most of your time outside anyway, so this is more than adequate. It's also fairly easy and cheap to get to this B&B from the Heathrow airport... take the Piccadilly line (blue) to Leicester Square and then transfer to northern line (black) to Goodge Street. Then, it's only a 3-5 minute walk to the B&B.

The rooms were clean but small. They had a nice breakfast, but there was no A/C which it got hot in September.

Staffed by east-european people who tend to be blunt & straightforward towards the guests. Rooms are cleaned at the latest at 10 but they even wake you up at 9 if they feel like cleaning up your room: if you are a late morning sleeper you have to choose: either wake up early or have your room messed up for the rest of the day. Poor pluggings, you cannot plug razors, telephones, etc. The sink was most uncomfortable, to low, too little and the shelf above it made it almost impossible to wash your teeth normally...

For the price, this was a fine hotel, although there was no elevator (which was difficult for our 82 year old friend who had to climb to the 3rd floor) and no lobby. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The location is excellent. There was a bit of street noise, as our room was at the front of the hotel on a fairly busy street, and there was no air conditioning.

The location is excellent. A short walk to a subway station that goes direct to Heathrow Airport.Very convenient for West End, Soho and shopping. We had a spacious triple room overlooking the garden. Very nice. Also enough breakfast to sustain us til afternoon tea. A very friendly hotel.

My partner and I stayed here based on the positive reviews listed here. We had a very nice stay. Location is excellent... just around the corner from the Northern Line. We had a very nice room on the top floor, and kept the windows open at night for a very lovely cool breeze. The street can be a bit noisy with the windows open, but it is central london. The bed was comfortable, ensuite bathroom was adequate. The management was friendly and very helpful. Not a luxury hotel by far, but the price sure was right. very good value for the price.

Great location at this price - within walking distance of Oxford street. Good places to eat & shop withing 5-10 minutes walk. Large room, great shower. Not quiet due to traffic (our room overlooked the road) but in Central London you have to expect this.

This hotel is perfect if you go to London for a few days. Location is very good, close to 2 tubes. The rooms are big enough and very clean, and the service is good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

Breakfast was very good, room was rather small (the owner promised us to give us a bigger one for our next stay), shower worked very well. Very good value for your money.

I liked my stay, good price/quality for London, the rooms are small, especially the bathroom, but it is ok for tourists who don't plan to spend too much time in hotel.

I felt very comfortable in the triple room(we were two adults) under the roof, it was quite spacious except the bath and the view into the green was also nice.I just guess, that in winter it could be a little bit freezing, because the windows don't close well. The location is perfect for walking home from Soho. Overall for this price you get good quality, not less, not more.

A very quiet and welcoming hotel. Subway stations within a short walk and very convenient if you enjoy wandering in this amazing city. the english breakfast will give you enough energy to visit London ! we particularly enjoyed the garden at the back. we almost felt at home on the wooden bench !

When a restructuring is in course, one must be informed of the fact: dust, noise, no garden ...

As you see from my ratings I thought this hotel was excellent and very good value for money. I had a most pleasant room with ensuite facilities. I was also delighted to have a non-smoking room, and the hotel smelt very fresh. many thanks to venere.com and regency house for everything - I hope to stay there again. Patricia Kings

Friendly & Attentive Staff : Single rooms are a bit cramped : Gower Street is busy in the mornings & there is a lot of traffic passing by. Area/neighborhood is excellent. Very nice breakfast offered.

It's always a little bit difficult to say some- thing about the price. In relation to the prices in Germany, it's really expensive and really not to compare with the service, which is normally given in this price category.
