The hotel is near of the subway, the buses and hype park. The first room was not very lighty(G8). I asked for another and the day after we had a new room very spacious and light. We were two grand parents and a grand son. The staff and the woman in the breakfast room was very competent and always nice with us. If we return in London, we'll return to London guards hotel and we'll recommand this one to our family and friends. Thank you for all !

The hotel is still on renovation. It's dated, but clean. No luxery but all you need.Very clean, white towels. The doors inside the hotel, make a lot of noise when closing.(automatic system). There are no duvets on the beds, but blankets, of wool.

The staff was gracious and helpful at all times. Our en suite room was spacious and clean. The staff in the breakfast area were delightfully friendly and the breakfast buffet was well maintained during breakfast hours. The location is fabulous; close to the train station and to the tube and a very short walk to the park. Off the beaten track but a very short walk to main streets. Highly recommended for those who like a European style hotel...not so much for those who want an American hotel...go to an American chain for that.

This hotel is tired. The wooden floors need to be redone, as well as the carpeting. Sound proofing is not good. Beds were uncomfortable. Outside had scaffolding, so I assume they are re-doing the brick, but need to do inside too.

We were 3 sisters travelling together. The triple room that the hotel provided was spacious and the beds clean and comfortable. We found the hotel a bit on the shabby side but the location was ideal, the price was right and the staff courteous and helpful.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and must say' the staff was very very pleasent and helpfull. On arrival i was given a twin room but after speaking to reception i was changed to a double which is what i booked. I stay in London every two weeks in various hotels in the same area and would reccomend this hotel most highly. I will be most deffinatley be staying here again very soon ..

I stayed with two friends for a long weekend(Friday to Monday)and we chose the Hotel mainly because of it's location close to Hyde Park and Oxford Street. We all thought the location was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the bedroom was big enough for the three single beds we had requested. Our only complaint, which is a very minor one, would be that the pillows are really flat. We all thought there was only one on our beds, when in fact we each had two. I asked at reception for another one and it was brought to the room straight away. Good continental breakfast. Lots of complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. We would definitely stay here again.

We are two adults with a teen daughter. Our stay was from the 24th of Aug to Sept 1st, 2012. We miss booked our stay, so we did a separate booking for one night before our week started. The first night we arrived we were in a room that had a double bed on one floor of the room and a single bed on another floor (only about 5 steps up). The room was small as was the washroom but it was a good room for a couple with a teen as it gave privacy to our teen. When we checked in the lady at the desk said to come down first thing in the AM to see if it was going to be possible for us to stay in the room. Unfortunately we had to move for the remainder of our stay. It was not to bad, in that the next room was spacious and the washroom was much larger. There were two single beds and a roll-away bed in the second room. The roll-away was old and falling apart but the moment we spoke to the front desk they were in the room changing it out for another bed that was new. The only negative thing about our stay really was having to pay for internet but other then that all our concerns were addressed immediately, the rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast selection was nice. The breakfast dinning hours were longer then most places and that was a treat on the days we need a bit of extra sleep. (untill 11am)

Stayed 3 nights in a family room for 5 people. pros: Nice and friendly staff. Near tube, Paddington, and bus stops. Quiet surroundings. Clean and spacious. Fridge in the room: compact, but useful. Continental breakfast: OK. They let us leave our luggage after checkout. cons: Bathtab plug didn't work(but it was alright because it was summer). Sink plug also didn't work. Hotel staff said he would try to fix it, but in vain. Squeaky floor. Could tell where someone was walking upstairs. Would be nice if it had free wi-fi.

The hotel was difficult to find. The directions given by the hotel weren't much help. We walked from the train station because the distance they stated wasn't far, but in reality it was at least twice the distance. The rooms were OK but the pictures made the hotel look a lot nicer than it was. THey could use new mattresses, bedding and paint. The doors don't close without slamming and we good here other guest talking all night.

They let me in to my room early which was a big plus. I was put in a basement room which turned in to a blessing since it was very quiet and cool. Being on a U-shaped street kept traffic noise at a minimum. The location, a block off Hyde Park, was wonderful and surprisingly affordable. They try to sell add-ons and also tried converting my visa charges from euros to US dollars at a high rate, so just me mindful. I stayed at another place a week later for the same price and that was not nearly as nice or spacious.

This is by far the worst mis-match of expectations and poor results of any Venere hotel i've used over the past 6 years. If you are paying more than GBP 50 per room nite -- go elsewhere. Rooms are dirty, dingy, heavily worn -- carpet, curtains, bed blankets likely have never been washed; large areas of mold growing on all 4 bathroom walls along ceiling; carpet threadbare.

This is a perfect hotel very central located in the very best area, Bayswater. The area is very quiet. Just a few minutes to the underground at Lancaster Gate and it takes only 20 min by walk to get to Oxford Street. We had a family room for 4 people with a fridge, tv, bathroom and a kettle so we were very pleased. Good price and the breakfast was ok.

the breakfast was very borrowing. when staying a hole week of vacation with two children the same continental jam, cheese and powder coffee is very pricy for what You actually feel you get for your hard earned money - but because the accommocations / rooms very excellent and larger than expected, the "value for money" is placed in the middle of the scale..

This hotel is modest but very clean and fully suited our purposes. Rooms are small & the layout can be 'quirky' due to its conversion from a townhouse but very clean. Location was absolutley terrific - right across from Hyde Park, close to tube, and very easy to find our way to tourist sites. Very reasonably priced and was not advertised as anything that it was not. This is excellent value for the money & not paying top price for a hotel filled with amenitites that one never uses was very welcome. Other guests were tourists from Germany, Denmark, Canada, & other parts of UK. We were on our way to Turkey with a 4 day stopover to see London. It fit the bill perfectly & I would recommend it to my own family members for future trips to London.

We've been welcomed by a staff member who wasn't really bothered to do more than write down our details and give us the room key. The huuuuge downtrend was that we DESPERATELY NEEDED the internet access as demonstrated on venere's website regarding this hotel, but "the lobby pc is broken, no wireless access" was the answer we got. So, we paid extra 5 pounds for 24h use of the BTFon network which we could find anywhere in town. The room wasn't in great condition, but that was no problem for me, it's not my home and i didn't stay long. Other than that, it was a clean, big and comfortable room.

Good location and rooms. However, bad treatment received by the reception girl, wanted to charge us a room that had canceled, even with the document that justified the cancellation in time and also have it on your computer to cancel ... The situation was unprecedented: at 22h at the reception, with children without sleep for over an hour of discussion, until we decided it was not a valid interlocutor and not attending to any argument. The next day, the manager, saw that everything we said was correct and the discussion was minimal ... It was an unfortunate situation ... Care you not want to charge a room more ...

Rooms were small but clean, decor could definitely do with a freshen up, it's been a while since the walls saw a coat of paint. The area where the hotel is located was great, 5 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate tube station. Felt very safe walking around at night. Would definitely use again when staying in central London. Hotel allows you to store your luggage when you check out which was a definite plus for me. Check in (11.00) and check out (12.00) times were very good too.

We booked a room for three, but the third bed was a foldable one, which is not very comfortable for a young adult! The view was poor in our room. The paintings are "ripping" in the bathroom. Very quiet room; the only source of noise was the fridge. As I did not need it, and as it was empty anyway, I switched it off for the night, and so I had an absolutely quiet room and a wonderful sleep. All other things were ok. Other users complained about the too small breakfast room, but I don't understand this complaint at all; for a hotel of this size, a breakfast room with 36 seats (I counted them) seems absolutely appropriate.

It was the first time I went to London and stayed in a hotel. I wa a little bit afraid, but I leaned on the positive comments of the website and they didn't disapointed me. The main quality I enjoyed in the hotel was that it was very clean. They gave us a big room. It was a little noisy, but it wasn't their fault. above our room, there was a family with 2 or three little children, so, it couldn't be different! The only thing I have to criticise, is the breakfast, it could be better I recommend this hotel. It's very central. I'll certainly stay in it the next time I'll be in London

This was the first visit to London Guards and guaranteed to be my last. First off the welcoming wasn't warm at all, the staff done as little as possible to help. Once we found our room we discovered that the bathroom was less than a metre wide and you couldn't take a shower without getting caught in the shower curtain as it had been installed incorrectly. The bed linen old and tacky and don't bother asking the staff for anything such as pillows as they will just say 'no'. The windows were screwed into the frame so if you wanted to open them all the way you couldn't. It was really hot weather for London when we visited and needed to use the fan that was a vent in the ceiling above the bed, it started to leak and when we asked the staff about fixing the problem they stated it would take one day and wouldn't give us and other solution or change our wet linen. We requested a new room and were told by the staff that there were no rooms available, we asked if there was another hotel that we could be transferred to and at first we were told that the other hotel was also booked out but 20 minutes of arguing with the staff we were then told there was a room available but we would need to carry our 4 bags ourselves at 9:30pm. The staff refused to call a manager to solve the problem, we kept getting asked 'what do you want me to do to fix the problem?' instead of the receptionist getting some initiative and just booking us a new room at another hotel. After stating that we would go to the new room the staff member said that we would not be charing us for that night due to the inconvience caused but then discovered when our bill came that this was not true. I was with my wife and the staff member would tell me one story and then my wife another. Overall they ruined our honeymoon, lied, were lazy and incompetant. Do not stay at this hotel

it was ur shame! We have found one insect in the bath room and a big big one (4cm!) in the breakfeast room! The room was very noisy because of a machine which was near the room: until 5.45 AM there was one horrible noise and it was impossible to sleep! It's a shame pay this price for this hotel!

We aid £95 pund for a smal room, very squashed, aged and freying at the edges, the bed was dirty, the pillows smelt old and musty, there was hairs in the bed, clearly not clean bedding, not even a duvet a white sheet wrapped around a thick itchy army style blanket, i slept on my dirty clothes on top f the bed instead of in a dirty bed. the receptionist told us breakfast would be 8 - 11, we went down for breakfast at 10.30 to be told breakfast was over, after telling them it was there mistake not ours they let us help our self to cereal the milk was warm, not seen a fridge, left it and left the hotel, also on arrival the rcceptionst did not offer directions to the room only tha tthe elevater was that way' Would not recomend this hotel to anyone. the only plus was it was close to hyde park were we needed to be. wouldnot stay again under any circumstance.

hotel set in nice surroundings, close to tube and within walking distance of many attractions ie Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall. The public rooms are spotlessly clean and look like they have recently been decorated. The bedroom was quiet, even though it was next to the lift. The room was a good size and spotlessly clean although the wallpaper looked very worn in places. Very comfortable for a couple of nights. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Great rate which included continental breakfast - a variety of bread rolls would improve the content. Will definately stay here again.

The hotel is a bit worn down (carpets), but clean and it was so quiet that we completely forgot we were in a big city. Very easy to get to the tube from Lancaster Gate and lots of restaurants 4 blocks away (Bayswater/Notting Hill). You can go through nearby Kensington Gardens to walk to Knightsbridge. We will definately come back - we were 2 adults with 2 children aged 10 and 15.

I booked a twin room because my daughter was travelling with me for the first three days of my stay. The room was plenty spacious for two and it was clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is near the Lancaster Gate tube station, in the Bayswater area, and a couple of blocks from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. There isn't an over-abundance of restaurants in this area but there are a couple of decent pubs close by. The streets around the hotel are quiet at night. The continental breakfast offered adequate selections. No free WiFi, which is my only complaint. There are a couple of computers for guest use, for a modest fee, in the lobby.

You get what you pay for with this hotel - it's not flash and in fact it's quite shabby but it's quiet, clean, comfortable, and our room for 3 was quite spacious. Breakfast was quite good with a wide selection of cereals, breads you could toast yourself, etc. Service was a bit hit and miss but they tried hard to please. The bathroom was small and the hot water was a bit unreliable, but the location is very good and the beds were comfy. The rooms had heaters so you could adjust the heating which was good; some hotels are over heated.

This was my second stay at London Guards. The hotel is very well located: 5 min from the underground, in a very quiet area next to Kensington gardens. I had plenty of space: I had a large bedroom with 2 double beds and a single bed for no extra cost (I had booked a double only). The room had 3 wide windows overlooking the street and a high ceeling. Breakfast was ok with all kinds of jams (including nutella!), cereals, toasts, croissants, yogurts and fruit. I will definitely go back to this hotel when I fly back to London.

The surrounding is great, all clean, seemed safe and quiet. the underground is easy to reach (about 3-5 minutes to walk), the staff was very polite, rooms were clean, nice look out of the window. Breakfast was included and more than we expected, everybody was helpful and friendly.. So all together, the trip was great, this hotel will see us again.

Very convenience location, approx 10 mins walking distance to Lancaster tube station. But one special request is to change the breakfast menu. We stayed for six days and having the same menu everday. Best Regards

This is the first time I have sleep in a London Hotel but I have heard a lot of terrible stories about unclean rooms and unfriendly welcome. ( Although unclean rooms in the average priced British hotels and B&B is, in my opinion, a given, at least for Italian standards ). The hotel was at least clean, well placed and offered a good price/quality relation. The room was little, the bathroom was microscopic but at least with shower and without a carpet. Continental breakfast was good and various, English breakfast was sub-par. Coffee was undrinkable ( IMHO ). I don't know if I would go back there, but I can say honestly that in comparison to the other prices i have seen before booking this one I'm satisfied with the choice done...

We met nice people there, but the last day when we asked the receptionist to book a taxi, we got a kind of pirate taxi without taxi sign and taxametre. The receptionist obviously called somebody he knew. When we asked for English breakfast, it was not available even if it should be on the menu. The room we stayed in was spacious, but need renovation. The same goes for the room we had breakfast in.

It's a nice hotel with a good level of price/quality. It was a pity to stay in the ground floor: we had a wall in front of the window, and we didn't open the window. The rooms in the ground floor are only 2...

Very good stay for the family of 5, after we got a new family room in second floor. First we got at room in the basement, with noice from a ventilasjon fan and little day light.

It was the first time we stayed at this Hotel in a large twin room very pleasant. The Hotel is well located near the buses station and not very far from the tube. We meet people like us often come to visit London with their children or grand-children. However the room for the breakfast is too small and not very well located underground

The hotel as a whole was as expected. Reasonable value for money. Some disturbing noice from a building site near by, but that was of course temporary.

This hotel is located about 5 blocks from Paddington station and underground. This provides direct access to Heathrow and makes it easy to get around to see the sights. Pubs, restaurants and small grocery stores are around the corner. Our room was quiet, very clean and large enough, but very spartan regarding quality of furnishings. Breakfast was a standard continental that is served in shifts to accommodate the small dining area. The hotel has an elevator but the floors do not run consistently throughout the hotel. There are steps that go down then back up. This makes it awkward moving luggage in and out depending on the room. Best for shorter stays.
