Great location, 10 minutes from Soho square, 20 minutes from British Museum. This hotel is cheap, and accomodation is very simple, and comfort is restricted to a minimum. I had a single bedroom on the third floor, quite small, shower and loo were on the basement, with steep stairs. Breakfast is ok. Staff is very nice and helpful. For the price and the location, I am very happy with this hotel.

Place is tiny, doesnt have bathrooms in the room i was staying in, was 2 floors away. no fan (in summer) but a bed to sleep on and i guess OK price considering its london. location was awesome, very close to tube station and leisurely walk to main street of oxford st and piccadilly circus. would only recommend if your looking to stay at a very very basic place with no bells and whistles, and you dont mind not having a bathroom 2 levels away and hiking up stairs....

First time at Fitzroy Hotel. Not bad. The best: location... very centric. The worst: I stayed in a single room without toilet... that means go down three floors and return back again to pee... and the stairs were very narrow and in some places the ceiling not too high... not good for a hurry! All the room doors close with a spring... making a sounded clap in the middle of the night or very early in the morning... not good for heart disease... The staff very competent and nice. If you are young... is a good place... the rest... better a room with toilet or... stay away

You get what you pay for so dont expect any luxury. Most important is: 1. its clean 2. great location in walking distance from 3 tube stations 3. WiFi complementary But the TV with aerial does not give a picture that you want to watch for a long time.

The best things: the tube station is just 100mts away (1 stop from Oxfrd Circus) in a residential area but a busy and noisy road round the corner. The worst thing: my single room was just "BASIC": the Tv didnt work, not even a hanger for clothes or towels, not proper curtains (thanx god it was December). My shared bathroom was two storeys away and the breakfast room was small. I guess its average according to the standards offered in London.

Very clean room, very good location near Warren Street station ( underground). Very quiet. English people and foreigners tourists. We have enjoyed our stay at Fitzroy Hotel. It is a good opportunity for visiting London during less a week.

Hotel Fitzroy gave us a room that is not a real room (number 4), we think it was something like a store before becoming a "room". It was more than small, with very dirty walls. The windows couldn´t be opened. The matress was suposed to be quite new, but really uncomfortable. When we asked to change the room the manager told us they had their "ten...oh, eleven" rooms booked, after exclamating an "oh, my God" when we told him we were in the 4th room. The only good thing we can tell about this place is its excellent location.

Worst things: were the unprofessional set-up (the 'office' was a dingy mess), the distance between my room and the nearest shower/toilet - four flights of stairs!), the noise Best thing: quite good English breakfast (considering the price)

The rooms are noisy because the windows are badly insulated. So do not forget to take ear plugs. The room was clean, but there was a little bug on my bed and a whole in the wall. Breakfast was good with a choice between continental and English breakfast. Location is excellent, within walking distance from Oxford Street and very close to the underground station. The only problem if you have a room without bathroom is that the bathroom is in the basement and my room was on the third floor and there is no elevator! So this place definitely is only something for phisically fit people and people who do not neet to use the toilet during the night.

Booked a quadruple room (we were 4) and had a room for 3 persons (1 single + a double bed). After a long and difficult discussion after the first night, we finally had a second single bed added in the little room.

It was the first time we stayed at the Fitzroy Hotel. We booked a triple room. The room was clean but little. I would say a little bit too expensive for the service delivered.

2 reasons for booking this hotel were location and the free wireless internet, location perfect, wireless internet none existant in room and in the breakfast room, signal strength at best was very low, so if it is for the free internet you are going for do not use this hotel, apart from that the hotel is what you would expect for the price and location in central London.

There is no elevator. So, avoid rooms on the upper floor if you have problems with a lot of steps.

Realy good bedroom, friendly staff, excelent location and excelent breakfast. But I was in a room at the uppermost floor and the bathroom was in the underground floor, the TV wasn't working and the wireless internet signal did not work in that room.

Low prices and quite central location is all that counts in this hotel! Don´t expect any comfort! Only one small dirty bathroom/WC in the basement for the whole hotel! Poor equipment/furnishing in the very small rooms. Breakfast was acceptable.

For Four, the room was too small. We had to go up on beds to move in the room. We could not open the door of the cupboard because of a bed put in front of. It was a room for two with four beds. For breakfast, continental type (two edges of bread of bread without the crusts) was too much restricted.

English: The hotel is located perfectly (near the center and well link with Tube&busses), but considering the quality it is mostly a B&B! Comparing the cost of the hotels in the London center it's a good choice if you want to spend a little less that in big hotels. Note: VISA/MC/AMEX welcome but with a 3,5% of surcharge!

Hotel molto grazioso, in perfetto stile inglese.

Spacious rooms, but the carpet of the room is old, very dirty, the button of shower stayed in my hands. The TV is small and unusable. The sound damping is not good we hear the noises of the inside and the street. The morning staff is pleasant. Free internet access in the common room. The hotel is well situated between the Warren street station and the Great portland street station.

A bit shabby but overall OK. Had a room at ground floor with broken window that didn't close, but in the summer it was OK. In room WC and shower, clean but WC fan very noisy. Breakfast super basic quality, but breakfast it was. Warning - if pay by credit card, they add 3% to the quoted price!

I booked the cheapest hotel available and naturally without high expectations. But I left satisfied. A simple, but clean room, nice and central area with nice cafees and pubs. The most negative thing was that the shower and toilet were in the basement and the room on the top floor. A lot of running.

I booked on the day of arrival so they didn't have my booking - just a well I printed it off. The room was tiny - constant traffic noise no tea/coffee facilities, no TV. in the room. Breakfast was very greasy, toast wasn't even toasted! the beans where stone cold. Had to share a shower and a toilet with god knows how many other people and the staff, that was at the bottom of the "hotel" next to the kitchen & dining room & and office, so it was very off putting to hear people talking, walking past and eating / cooking breakfast as you tried to have a shower/use the toilet. "Hotels" like these give london and the uk tourist industry such a bad name - DON'T STAY THERE - not unless you can't manage on the pavement - ONLY USE AS A VERY VERY VERY LAST RESORT!

I think Fitzroy Hotel is a very good place to spend your days in London. It's very near from the centre (nearly 10 minutes by walking), it's too easy to find once you've arrived to London (even if you haver never been there), it's not expensive and the room was good and confortable, althought is not a big hotel. Near you can find tube and bus station. The employees are so kind and Miguel, who works like recepcionist, is a wonderfull person

The quality/price relation is very good for a London hotel. The rooms were nice and the surroundings are just perfect. There are lots of cafeterias and restaurants close to the hotel. I booked a double room with a friend. The room was not excedingly small (as most rooms in London are). Breakfast is OK. You can choose between continental (2 toasts w/jam & butter, corn flakes, coffee and orange juice) or English (egg, sausage and beans, coffe and orange juice). There is 1 PC on which you can check email for free. The only problem we had was that the water heater was broken (or so the manager said), so we had to take cold showers, which can be quite an experience in London. However, I SUPPOSE they will fix this in the future. I would be a good idea to call to make sure they have.

No remote control for TV, very loud bathroom ventilation. Room was on the ground floor next to main entrance: As the main door shuts very loudly, it was hard to fall asleep. One window couldn't be closed, which is somewhat frightening on the ground floor. Upon arrival we were left standing in the corridor for almost 10 Minutes, because there was no reception. The breakfast was pretty good.

It is very well located (but hard to find following the online map), three minutes from Warren Street (Tottenham Court Road junction) underground and bus station, a healthy walking distance from Cambridge Circus or even Leicester Square. No elevator, and the steps are extremely high, so be in good force to climb up with a heavy luggage to the top floor! The personal is super-kind, the breakfast is all right, they have Internet and TV in the breakfast room. (Meanwhile the TV set in my room was out of function, and obviously since a longtime). Problem: I couldn't properly close the door, as the lock was half-broken. I mentioned it, but nothing happened. My room (in the "penthouse") was rather big, with a small separate douche, and an other separate WC. As I could glance to some of the other rooms, they were a lot smaller, with no bathroom at all. The price is rather elevated for a one-star hotel, but the location is really exceptional.

This hotel was extremely dirty and run-down. The cleaning of the rooms was practically non-existing. The shower reaked of mold, mold was growing in the corners and up the walls in the shower. Sheets and towels were not replaced once during a 5-night stay, even towels that had been put on the floor to indicate they were dirty would be re-hung on the rack - with the dirt showing! We didn't have hot water for 2½ days. We recommend that this hotel is removed from the Venere site!

A horrible room with several tiles missing from the bathroom walls, insects crawling out of the crevices, floors in room sloping, had to lug our bags 2 and a half floors to the attic room. Breakfast served by a very pleasant Filipina lady was good but that was the only bright spot of a dismal stay. The manager/owner of the property was a crotchety old man who was openly berating his staff all the time. Heating would not be switched on unless we called for it, apparently on the owner's orders. All in all, do NOT go anywhere near this hotel, Hotel Fitzroy,41 Fitzroy St,London W1. By the way, no telephone in the room, so to contact reception one had to go down or use one's cellular phone to call, hardly an acceptable option for someone who has just arrived from overseas and doesn't have a local SIM card in his cell phone.
