First and last visit. Didn't start well when had to wait 45 minutes (at 4pm in the afternoon) for a receptionist to turn up. Tired building with lots of stairs and fizzing electrical points overloaded with adaptors. Room small, noisy, overheated yet with a gale blowing through the ill fitting window. Two night stay - but room poorly cleaned overnight. Breakfast starting at 7.30am is not ideal for early business meetings and free wifi had awful connectivity. Overall a really poor experience. Find somewhere else.

Was the first time in this hotel. Very central. Rooms on the street are not really quiet (cause of traffic) try to get rooms on the other side. Breakfast is great - but need to wake up early - finished at 9h30. If we come back to london, we will re use this hotel close to tottenham road. Last point don t take room 203...really small in comparison to all the others.

We got two rooms in the basement of the hotel. The view was a blind wall at 1 meter. The rooms were situated right next to the breakfast room which was very noisy early in the morning. At 7 am we awakend by the smell of fried eggs. One of the rooms was very small, just a bed and thats it. We shal never go there again !

The hotel is well placed. Just one thing, I did not like that the hotel charged my credit card with the first night rate without notice, a then on the secod day the hotel asked me to pay all the six nights i will stay.

The mattreses could be improved. Could feel the springs. Our child slept on a fold out sofa that was very uncomfortable - crooked, lumpy and too small. Otherwise we were very pleased and would be happy to recommend the hotel. We stayed three nights Very central. Easy to get around. Very helpfull staff. Good breakfast with lots of choises. Great that fruit is also served. Nice with the crackers and tea in the rooms. Could we have some nescoffee also?

In walking distance to all the theatres and shops, we walked every day. Room was spacious and clean. Our room had a window over the kitchen, facing the backyard. We didn`t smell anything and we didn`t hear a sound. Breakfast was good, english and continental. Fruit and yougurt every dag. We could definitely stay here more times.

Unfortunately, the sewerage and shower recess was blocked. Advised concierge, he advised problem would be fixed. Next morning, same problem, so couldn't wash hair as shower would overflow and toilet wouldn't flush (very embarassing). Requested some compensation from concierge, but was advised he couldn't help in any way as Managers' decision. Manager uncontactable (Sunday 9.00am). Under such circumstances, the concierge should have authority from Management to be able to allow compensation as he wouldn't have been employed by Management if he/she wasn't trustworthy.

These rooms are definately too small! If you're going to bring one large piece of luggage into the room, like your suitcase, then there is no place for you to place your feet! The single rooms are highly overprized compared to the size and the extreme noise from the traffic (all single rooms are faced to the street.) Well, my room had TV and nice, new furniture, but it just didn't help somehow... One more thing: the water pressure in the shower was almost non-existant for all five days. It took very long time to get wet. Oh, and by the way, the hotel is listed as a four-star at Venere, but the hotel owner write three-star on the hotel's homepage. I think three is more correct.

We had a very nice experience at hotel cavendish. It´s very central, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was also very helpful as they held our luggage before check-in and after check-out. We stayed in the two triple rooms near the kitchen and dining area, and even though it was very close to these public areas, it was very quiet and comfortable. And the English breakfast served was absolutely delicious! The room was spacious and clean with very nice bathrooms. The location was perfect. It is only about 3 blocks from the british museum, and right in the center of the night life. We never took the public transportation because we were able to walk absolutely everywhere. Overall, our experience at this hotel was very pleasant; and we will definitely be staying here again on our next trip.

I travelled with a group of four friends for a few days break in London. Most of us are frequent short-stay visitors to the city so between us we have a lot of experience of smaller/budget hotels. We stayed in two rooms on the third floor; 1 double room and 1 triple room. If we had to point out small issues then we would mention the small bathrooms and the lack of three beds in a triple room (1 double bed and 1 fold out sofa). That aside, We all agreed that the service and the rooms were great when we considered the cheap cost. We will definately try to book the same hotel on our next visit.

I was amazed at the size of my single room - I had never seen a room so small, in which a human being is supposed to live. I think had this been a prison cell, a room of this size would not have been allowed. I would rate the comfort of this room as sub-human. The size of the living/sleeping area was about 160/200 cm. The size of the bathroom was about 100/170 cm. It amazes me that in over-regulated UK it is possible for planning authorities to allow such a room to exist. There is no excuse for the owners of this hotel, other than pure greed, for making this excuse of a room, and offering it at GBP 85 per night. Not to say that the room had nothing to do with the pictures on the web site. In addition it was extremely noisy both from outside and from inside noise. I would never stay at this hotel again and hope no other traveller is deceieved like me.

Booked a triple room for a girls weekend but was very surprised and disappointed to see how small the room was! We could only just manage to squeeze the fold up bed in between the wall and double bed. Bathroom was very tiny and inadequate but most disappointing of all was being placed in a bedroom next to the kitchens! Being woken at 6.30 in the morning by the kitchen staff rattling around was a huge shock to the system!!

My daughter and i got a narrow double bed with one cover. We fought over the cover which was too thin, and we froze. The bathroom was tiny, with a lousy shower and freezing cold floor. There were sewing gum on the curtains and lampshade, and a pile of fags outside the window. The view was non existant as the room was in lower groundfloor. The noice and the smell from the kitchen which was next door was not plesant. The hotel is maybe nice but the room we were offered was no good at all.

The location of the hotel was excellent! Just a short walk from The British Museum and Oxford Street etc. Gower Street is a very fine and respectable looking street with fine houses and a lot of nice hotels. The hotel staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much. We had 2 double bedrooms. The one was facing the garden (away from the street) and was very quiet, but the other room was facing the street and was a little noisy - but only because of the cars from the street. There was no noise from the other hotel guests. There were new tv's (flat screen) in the rooms, and free tea, coffee and mineral water. Nice! The breakfast was good with plenty of everything!! We will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Even though the price is a bit high compared to other (3 stars) hotels in Europe, you get what you pay for, and it is every penny worth it. Specially because of the great location in central London.

The bathroom looked quite new and both room and bathroom were clean and tidy. I had a room on the front side which was very noisy. And it was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen - the bed was actually surrounded by walls on three and a half side! Other rooms may be more spacious, but those single rooms cannot be recommended; maybe OK for just one night. Good English Breakfast was served.

It's a fine hotel for those who want to stay in London for a couple of days. Soho, shops, public transport, bars, restaurants, theatre, museum etc. nearby, in walking distance. Great! Hotel itself: neat, comfortable. The temperature in the hallways were too tropical. The waitress didn't know very well how to welcome people to the breakfasttable. (I thought a simple goodmorning could do, but every morning she looked like she hated her job.. maybe she does ;-)) The price for a night is a bit high, but compared to other hotels in London, it's pretty ok.) I would recommend it, but not highly.

Our room was located underground between the kitchen and the breakfast-room: at 06.00 a.m. we couldn't breathe due to the smoke and the smell of fried food! We also asked the third bed but it wasn't impossible to use it and my daughter slept with me. Terrible experience!

Hotel Cavendish is a good place to stay for budget-conscious travelers. The hotel is closed to the metro station, and within walking distance to key places in London. The rooms are pretty average and well-maintained, basically what you get for the price you pay. The only downside is that some rooms face the main road (Gower Street), so it tends to get noisy especially during the night. Be aware that this hotel does not have a lift, be prepared to carry your luggages about 3-5 flights of stairs.

A few comments: - inside the room we could hear the people in the room above us, which was not good - low pressure in the shower - the breakfast was allright, but we could smell it all the way to the room for hours - the service during breakfast was not particularly friendly But we were also very pleased with our stay: - clean rooms, excellent service in the reception, and nicely furbished

If you are assigned room LG3 refuse it! It is a crush and you have to climb over each other at every turn and into bed. However, on our return, Oct 21-24 we had requested LG2 and this was more like the photo's in the brochure, very satisfactory. Bathrooms in both rooms are great, clean and spacious. Overall a good place to stay. Heads up if you ask for a cab. You will get a private limo and the price quoted at the desk will not be the same as the driver expects! Best to sort it out before you leave.

The rooms were quite clean and had obviously been refurbished recently. We had booked a tripple room but we got a double room with a folding bed. Our room was located in the basement just opposite the kitchen. That was not a good location at all. We were woken early and our room smelled of sausages and fried eggs. I think you should make people aware of the fact that they might risk to get this room. I think our stay could have been more pleasant if we had been located to another room. The location of the hotel though is quite good.

The room was adjacent to a street with heavy traffic and noise hit right into the room. No noise protection. My worst hotel experience in London this far. After one night I went and bought earprotection equipment for 40 pounds to be able to stay the last prepaid night.Showers not warm. Breakfast long waiting time. Just a very bad experience.Would not advise this hotel to anyone.
