noisy (neighbourhood); small rooms but good english breakfast, close to St Pancras Station easy to find, buses and underground lines can drive you easily and quickly to the main sites of Center London

Very small room with a narrow bed with just one blanket for two persons! Some of the staff were nice, others never gave us a smile!

My advice to you is never stay near the train station if you want QUIET RESTFUL SLEEP. Unfortunately, my family consisted of 4 adults and the room we received was NO BIGGER THAN MY SHOE BOX and THE BATHROOM AREA WAS NO BIGGER THAN MY BROOM CUPBOARD AT HOME. On the plus side, if you like bacon, eggs and sausages for breakfast this is the place to stay at. We have travelled the world but I must say that this would have to be the most smallest and noisiest room that we have ever stayed in. Room is not meant for a family of 4 - suitcases were stacked between both double beds and only opened if necessary because there was NO ROOM.

I don't think our requirements are overboard, but this room was SMALL. And while the small room might be tolerable, the bed was way too small for two people. We were so surprised that we actually asked at the reception whether we received a single bed room by mistake, but they said that this is the "standard scottish double bed", whatever that is. Our room, while paid for two people, had only a single set of towels, and when we asked at the reception, they tried to refuse giving us the second set. After some arguing, we received more towels, but the "extra" ones were gone the next day. Finally, don't go there if you care for any quetness. The hotel is situated across the road from Kings Cross station. That's good for transport, but silent it isn't. In hot weather, you'll have a choice of trying to sleep in constant noise or breathing air (we were lucky with weather though).

This Hotel is very well located: 20 meters of Tube and King Cross station. Employees were very nice and available (for taxi booking for example) The room is little and you hear the traffic, normal for a big city ? Everything was clean, even if some stuff are worn. There is not a lot of table in the breakfast room: be on time.

If you remember that the majority of London Hotels are converted houses/mansions, then you will appreciate that most rooms are so small that you could not swing a cat. So be very careful not to book long stays in broom cupboards the London hotels call rooms, as you will be very uncomfortable. Notwithstanding, the room at the Carlton, was more than adequate for 5 hours sleep before catching the early Eurostar train to Paris. The St. Pancras terminal was just a few minutes walk away, which could be done in autopilot at 5.00 am in the morning. As for the tariff... well you only get what you pay for and in London you will need a King's ransom to book anything bigger than a telephone box. My advice is to bypass London if you can't afford a "brand" hotel with large rooms and won't be happy to sleep standing up in the others! Incidentally, this hotel has an equally small elevator (lift) which would only take a maximum of two people or one person with a cat.

The location was really great and very handy from the railway station and the Tube station. Decent room, small bed, tiny bathroom but clean enough. The quality of the service is very low and the breakfast a real disappointment: very poor both in quantity and quality and the waitresses were quite rude. Anyway for a cheap accomodation in the centre of London it can be considered a good match between quality and price.

hotel is 20mts from Kingscross station. London is very expensive dont expect any luxury at this price. Breakfast was english and good quality. Room was basic and clean with tv. Once you master bus system location is no problem at all (even at night). All employees are foreign. Reccomended for short stays.

What we expected was what we found. The staff was competent and friendly. For those of you who prefer bathtubs that's what we had(and wanted)with a nozzle attachment for showering. The room was small but manageable. It seems the hotel is under renovation as well so there was a shower head but just not in use yet. The surrounding area was a mix of local residences, shopping and eateries with a little historical ambience. The location was great for local train and buses. There are also train stations for travel to other parts of Europe and England a few blocks away in either direction. I was told that the Eurostar which is the train to Paris will be coming to one of the stations as well. You do need to have your wits about you at night because there was a little grittier element that came around in the late evening. There are traditional fast food places, diner like places, good restaraunts a pub named Swintons and a green friendy restaraunt named Acorn all within walking distance.

The hotel is in a very good location right across from kings cros station which can get you everywhere in london in a few minutes, the staff were good and willing to help full hot breakfast include, the only downside was the bed was a bit small for two people but other than that there was nothing really wrong. would consider a return there.

Hotel was good for what you paid and it was so close to King's Cross with access to all airports and London Central. It was what you paid for. Basics for the price, however the front desk people never asked for my identity??? I just walked in and asked for my room key. Everytime there was someone different at the counter and they just gave me the key??? I could have been anyone! Regardless good basic accomadation for your dollar, and you cannot beat King's Cross for getting anywhere you need to go!

The hotel is over-rated. The room is dirty with very dim lights. The bed is old and very uncomfortable. The sheets were unclean and I had skin rashes. Although the location is very close to the underground station, the room is very noisy as it faces the main street. Front desk staffs are not friendly and unhelpful. I paid the same price for a single room at another hotel in the same neighborhood and it was much better value in every aspect. I will not recommend this hotel to anybody or will I ever use this hotel again when I visit London next year.

bathroom latch was missing, lift was not working on the day of arrival, teabags were not adequate, very few milk powder pouches, kettle very old and broken. The only good thing of the hotel was location otherwise the hotel is horrible. I think more attention should be paid to maintainance. We had taken triple room which means atleast three soaps, three towels should have been provided. The bathroom cubicle was again horrible partially rusted fixtures. Overall not great experience
