Good location, very pleasant staff. Clean. 'Small double' room is far too small to call a double. Top floor rooms are up a very tight set of steps.

Nice hotel, not too expensive, on walking distance to St. Pancras and the underground. Rooms small but comfortable enough. Staff friendly and ready to help. Basic breakfast service. If you're a company of 3 you'd better consider booking 2 rooms instead of a 3-bed room. I'd definitely go back and would recommend it if you just need a place to sleep.

Very nice hotel- clean, new painted and with a good atmosphere . The staff was friendly and helpfull, the breakfast typical english ( plenty and quickly served), the beds comfortable, the room rather small- but wellfurnished. It was easy to go there from the airport, and to get around in town, and a cosy neighbourhood. (restaurants and shops)

This hotel, like many around it, serves its purpose of providing relatively cheap (for London) accommodation close to public transport. You won't get a US type hotel room or fantastic service but it is clean and close to St Pancreas and Kings Cross Stations so very handy. The rooms are small, if you get a double bed then you won’t have space for anything else! You can only check in after 2pm but they will hold your luggage so that helps. No lift so if you can't lift your luggage up the stairs then again go somewhere else! And the service is Ok but again it’s not a US style hotel. But… it was clean, the bathroom was newly renovated and it is close to public transport which makes it so easy. Great for a couple of nights while you see London. I liked it, it did the job but you need to set your expectations correctly. So many of the comments seem to want to compare it to a hotel chain, if you get past that it is fine. So I can recommend it for single or couples especially if you are passing through London for a few nights, the location is unbeatable especially if you are coming in via Heathrow and out via Eurostar, easy access to both.

I was travelling with my daughter and we stayed in London 7 days. We became a family room (3 beds) which was very comfortable for two persons. We are very satisfied with this hotel and its central and though quiet position. The staff was friendly and we felt at home.

The staff at the front desk were very helpful and accommodating, especially Chris. The hotel is within easy access to Russell Square tube station. There are restarants, cafes and small markets right around the corner. The hotel and rooms are clean. The only downfall of our stay was the size of the family room and the stairs to the top floor.. There were 4 of us crammed in the family room on the top floor. We were extremely cramped. We literally had one small path to the very small bathroom after we arranged our luggage which took some doing. No lift with very narrow staircase to the top. It was almost like climbing a ladder. I would return if there was just 2 of us.

Excellent welcoming done by professional staff, anthousiast and available. The room is in good conditions due to the recent restore. The space of the room is enough for 4 people, we were 2 adults and 2 kids. The heavy breakfast has been enjoyed and well served by friendly staff. Good location of the hotel, it is near (10 minutes by walk) Saint Pancras rail station.

The Avonmore Hotel Cartwrightwas is in a perfect location for us being just a few minutes from Kings Cross and St Pancras Stations. The hotel is in a pleasant crescent shaped road which was relatively quiet considering the closeness to amenities which include good transport links, shops bars and cafes. Alex on the front desk was very obliging and offered us another room nearer to the ground floor as we had a lot of luggage and there is not lift. He also assisted with a query on dialling codes and was pleased to help and very friendly. The bedroom was a very reasonable size although the bathroom was compact to say the least. On the plus side cleanliness was first rate. There a good shower and plenty of hot water, the bed was comfortable and the linen nice quality and fresh. The room was recently decorated and looked smart apart from some rather dated furniture. The breakfast room was functional but clean but we were disappointed not be offered an alternative to full English breakfast when we said we were vegetarians. This seemed to flummox the breakfast staff so in the end we opted for a fried egg (very small)and tomato(a fresh (ie uncooked)one cut into 4 quarters). I can't believe we are the 1st vegetarians to stay in this hotel.

Staff was very helpful both at the desk and in the morning, where they served an enjoyable hot English breakfast. Staircase to the top 2 rooms could only be made with fit individuals, but we were a sturdy family. The pricing was in line with older buildings. Excellent distance from Eurotrain, St. Pancras station. Best service personnel on our month long trip in Europe dispite building attributes.

Best thing about this hotel is its great location in an interesting, relatively quiet neighborhood. It is also very close to King's Cross/St. Pancras and Russell Sq. tube station. The staff were really friendly and helpful. No problem to leave your suitcase after checkout. English breakfast was standard/good. The single room, however, was tiny. Furniture is really worn. Nice view on the cresent, though. Overall good value for money (keeping London's hotel prices in mind!).

This hotel is located in a very lovely curved street opposite a park with all the lovely old buildings which have been transformed into hotels all lit up at night. The location is fabulous - you are 5 mins walk to Euston station and the other direction to Marchmont street which is like a Grenwhich Village NY style small shops and at the end of the street Brunswick Centre with a supermarket and lots of places to eat and shop. The hotel itself is a B+B style simple place with a small number of rooms. I was in a single room for a week whilst on a course - the room was smallish but thats normal for single rooms but the quality standard was very high for the price ratio and nice and warm and nicely decorated including a desk which was important for me. there is also free wireless internet offered. The place is simple but very clean. There is only the reception and the rooms + the breakfast room - so typical B+B style. The breakfas as many others has said was really really good especially as it is included in the price. there are cereals, yoghurts and juices and if you like an english breakfast of eggs, bacon and sausages. the ladies are lovely and will cook what you wish :-) the best part of this hotel are the men who work on reception 24hrs a day who are always vry welcoming and helpful and will give you good advice on your questions and are always there with a smile when you come back after a hard day. I would definetly stay here again on my next visit to London ! thank you for your lovely hospitality everyone :-)

Breakfast excellent and staff really friendly. As a woman on my own I felt safe - good value for money.Good value for money. Only bad thing I could hear the underground...but I had friend in the Hilton nearby who paid a fortune and couldnt sleep because of the Fire Station.

The Good: Excellent, yummy breakfast service; friendly 24-hour reception; and close to the tube, a grocery store, an internet "cafe", & several late-night "take-away" restaurants. The Bad: As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms can be small. I had the single ensuite room on the basement floor (Room 3) right next to the breakfast room. The room was the size of a large walk-in closet, but at least the bathroom/shower was a comfortable size for one person. If you like to sleep in, ask for a room that is not next to the breakfast room - you can hear the early morning guests slamming the door as they enter the breakfast room. Luckily I'm an early riser & spend my entire day sightseeing, so the room was not a problem for me (and I have experienced a lot worse in other London B&B's). The reception desk might recommend that you use the Russel Square tube stop; however I found this station to be limited & annoying to access. In the end I preferred to walk the little bit of extra distance to Kings Cross instead, which has every line you'll need. As a single female traveler, I felt very safe walking around the hotel area over a radius of several blocks (of course, I followed the usual precautions of staying on main roads etc). Also this hotel scrimps on the free shampoo, so if you happen to have long hair you might want to bring extra.

I was first time in London with my wife and daughter, we stay there 3 days. The hotel is in good location 5-8 min.walk from Brithish museum and 2-3 min. from Russel sq. (nearest tube station). Around the hotel sebveral pub and quick food and 24h shops, so located in a good area. We arrive from Paris on Eurostar to St. Pancras r.s. which is about 10 min easy walk from the hotel. The staff is very frendly, the room (it wass triple)was enought. So I would stay again in this hotel.

it was way to noise. it doesn't matter how cheap it is if you don't get any sleep it is not much of a vacation. we stayed for 5 nights and were on the main floor. no air conditioning, you can hear everyone that gets buzzed into the motel and this goes on all through the night. mabye the upstairs would be better. the breakfast was good. close to the tube.

we were (3 females incl one teenager)at first not really good impressed when we had to let our luggages on the very small corridor as we couldn't go into our room (quite normal we were too soon),but the guy who welcomed us was really nice, and later when we could go to our room we were really satisfied with the cleanliness and space we could have (for a London hotel criteria). It was my 3rd stay in London and this is the better hotel I had (price is a bit too high)). The breakfast included was normal, not so exceptionnal but we had enough and we were also nicely welcomed which is really appreciated in the morning!

The hotel is in a great community in Bloomsbury (lots of bookshops, small cafe's of all kind, local university) near subway station which is close to Leicester Square and Covent Gardens (15-30 minute walk away), where many theaters are located. Staff was very friendly and helpful with needs. Hotel is sort of a budget hotel...we had a fairly small double room that had no frills, but was clean and reasonably priced for London (No A/C). Would definitely stay there again.

Area is close to a college area, so it was nice to be a little seperated from the tourist traps. Close enough to tube and train stations. Good pubs and some restaurants around. Very good price, especially for London. I don't spend the time in the hotel, so I don't want to spend the money. There is no lift, but its not so bad...we were on the top floor and it was fine. Breakfast was good and free, served us second helpings at no charge (it helped that I left a tip for the server). Bathroom a little small, but the shower was hot, which is all I care about. I would definitely stay here again. Not too much street noise. Co-ed giving a show in her dorm room across the street an added bonus...!

Very convenient to the metro, quiet neighborhood. Both hotel clerks that we dealt with were VERY cheerful, welcoming and helpful. Whenever we had questions about anything, if they didn't know the answer, they found it out for us and got back to us. The breakfast was GREAT. Much more than you get at most European hotels. Can't believe it was included in the price! Very convenient if you come in on the train at Kings Cross/Saint Pancras. Grocery store nearby and plenty of restaurants to suit most tastes. Would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

We were 3 people in the room (2 adults and one child), but it fits 4 if necessary. The bathroom was not a tiny space (it's something very rare in London) and has natural light. The breakfast was very good (we just try the continental breakfast). The only thing against was the fact that we were on top floor and the hotel did not has elevator. One last thing regarding the location - there is a shopping centre, several restaurants, pubs, metro stations.

The people at the reception are really very, very nice and welcoming! The surroundings are great, and everything's so close to some of the main London atractions, cultural and others. The only problem I would mention is that during the couple of days of my permanence in London there was extremely cold and windy weather, and I'd sadly found out that the window in my room wouldn't close properly - so I was quite freezing in my room, even though the radiators were very hot!
