The rooms are small as usual. But the furniture is very old and worn. Some rooms seems that there was an water problem above so that the ceiling, walls and so on looks like wet and smells even bad. Wallpaper hangs partly from the walls and ceiling. The stairs are very small and steep. It is quite neccesary to refuniture the rooms and building.

There were two major strikes against this hotel. One self-inflicted and one caused by the city. The hotel looks very nice from the lobby. The breakfast with the room was delightful. Their coffee could use a little work but England drinks tea and the tea selections was very nice. The room was extremely small for (4) people. We could not move around unless we put the suitcases on the bed. But the bathroom was not acceptable. It had seen better days. Some of the tile was cracked and the caulk needed work. There was mold in the corners. The city also did in the hotel. They decided to do road/sewer or some other construction at 10PM at night. It continued through 7AM. Dump trucks, backhoes, jackhammers, and other noise making equipment. Problem was the hotel did not have air conditioning so we could not close the windows. A dreadful first night in London.

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was better than we expected. We booked a double room; it was very spacious (fit for 3 persons) and clean.I would definitely go back there.

Exactly what you paid for. We got a really spacious room meant for 3 people. Everything was ok, except that the bed sheets were not changed from the previous guests so we had to change them ourselves. First shift receptionist was very helpful. Really good location though.

Couple with 3 children. 5 person room Good Location near Paddington station (Zone 1) Easy to get to from Heathrow airport. 24 Hr reception. Helpful personnel. Clean. We stayed 7 nights and satisfied with good breakfast and sleep and going on our touring London.

I got disappointed when I entered the room. It was tiny and looked as if it had not been done anything there for 40 years. But I guess this is how budget hotels in London look like. The room was clean, quiet and had hot water in the shower. Afterall my stay went OK. Good location near the Paddington station. The area seemed safe and there were a few restaurants nearby.

We, a family (5 persons) had a great stay at Gower Hotel. It wasn't fancy, but as we expected to the price and the location is fantastic - near Paddington, near Hyde Park and severel busses stop near by. The staff was very friendly and helpfull and the breakfast was great. We visit a little italian restarant nearby - between the hotel and Paddington station - it was great food and service. We would go back, any time.

Bring cash when you check in! The hotel charge 5% when payment is done by credit card. Very good price/quality ratio! The hotel is everything you need for at stay in London if you ant want a place to sleep and have breakfast in. Small but clean and neat rooms. 5 min walk to Paddington station.

We stayed here for a night over the Christmas holidays. The location is great as there are regular buses that stop along the same road which in 5 mins, get you to the Oxford Street area if you don't want to walk the 20mins. Paddington is a 2 minute walk away so excellent for getting about by underground too. We were impressed. The full English breakfast was good too and very friendly kitchen staff. London on a humane budget - Gower recommended. We were out about all day so we only needed somewhere to crash. If that's your style too, then go for this one.

I would not go back to this hotel. The room was very small for 3 people, bathroom small for even 1 person. There were 54 steps to the room, it was stifling hot in room after a day of walking the streets of London. Room not very clean but not filthy. Breakfast OK staff accommodating.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was small and a little older, but defintely worth it for the price. They also serve an outstanding hot breakfast each day which we really enjoyed. The hotel is right near Paddington Station which made it very easy to get to different parts of the city. I would definitely stay there again!

Gower hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and badly understaffed, the management trying to run two hotels with barely enough staff for one. The few-numbering personnel are trying their best, but when the hotel is fully booked, you may end up queuing for half an hour to be seated in the breakfast room and another half an hour to be served. The English breakfast surely is filling, but a few fresh things woul d be welcome variation. The English skills of some people in the reception need improvement.

The hotel charged double what it usually does for that room. It was extremely hot and there was no fan in the room but they gave us the fan from reception. The shower was terrible and the receptionist had to show us three times how to work it. The phone didn't work so we could only make calls from reception. The TV also didn't work and they couldn't get us a replacement. The staff were helpful but just couldn't deliver the goods. We were told the owners have two hotels and we were charged the price of the other hotel which is upmarket to this one but it was full. This place was a major ripoff!
