Custom House Hotel - London

Hotel employees not very pleasant. Too far from the actual city centre.

It is too far from everywhere, and although there is a train available just across the street, as the hotel is so far from everithing the train tickets are too expensive.

The hotel isn't situated in the prettiest part of London Docklands but the view from the room was pleasant. The DLR was right outside the hotel which was great. The hotel was great value for money and very clean. I would definately stay there again if I was looking for a break in the city as it was convenient. I was happy with the hotel parking as well. I would definately recommend this hotel to friends.

The surrounding areas of the hotel are not too pleasant but its a prime location for the Excel Centre. Staff on check-in were beyond useless, first they couldn't find our booking, then tried to charge us twice as much and we were then made to walk back to the car at midnight to bring the booking details to prove we weren't lieing when we were told earlier in the day that they would not be needed. The rooms were clean but a bit small and the bathroom was tiny. We stayed in a superior double but wouldn't recommend it to anyone

The bathroom was a prefabricated plastic unit within the room. The hotel did not have the feel of a 4 star hotel it purports to be. The executive wing within the hotel does not compensate for this overall ambience.

Il servizo è davvero eccellente e il personale è molto preparato e disponibile. Pensate che all'arrivo in hotel mi sono accorto di aver dimenticato la zaino in taxi. L'addetto alla reception non ha esitato ad accompagnarmi a Stratford, dove avevo preso il taxi, per contattare il tassista che mi aveva accompagnato. Nel frattempo l'autista era tornato in hotel a consegnarmi lo zaino...chissà se in Italia sarebbe successa la stessa cosa. Unica nota dolente il fatto che l'hotel è un pò distante dal centro, ma con i mezzi pubblici a Londra ci si muove in lungo e in largo velocemente.

Hotel was realy good. I eexpected smth realy small - room was big enough for me (164cm) and for my sister who is in pregnant. Shower was small but big enough for me. Only thing I didn't like was not very clean carpet. I woud return there next time

You need to change the instructions to reach the place, the correct stop is not canning town, but Custom House on the DLR. Apart from this it may look a little bit far away from the centre, but it never took us more than 30 minutes to reach downtown

I thingh the hostel in london was more expensive we wait 30 minutes in the tube to go in the center of london and on the web pages they say to stop at canning town and we walk a lot and when we arrived at the hostel we see there are the DLR just stop at the hostel we must whrite "you stop at canning town and you take the DLR custom house and excel" thank you

The rail station DLR indicated on the hotel's map of Venere.com is the wrong station, we had to walk from "Canning town" 20 minutes before we find the right way. the best DLR station is "Custom house for ExCel". This station is situated in front of the hotel! good price/quality Hotel near London City Airport.

The shower and WC looked more like a prison cell than a bathroom in a hotel, but it was clean and functional. It was a strong smell of naftalin in the room. The hotel was overall good, clean and functional, but a little too far from downtown area. You need to change subway 3 times to get to Oxford Circus station. They need to change the "how to reach the property" section on internet, it is a very long walk from Canning Town stop to the hotel. You need to take the DLR from Canning Town stop to Custom House. Inside the Custom House Hotel it was a very good Chinese restaurant, but the waitress was very unfriendly :-( so we choose to use the cafe. We recommend this hotel, the value for money is very good.

I do not recommend this hotel for several reasons: they charged 18.20 pounds extra during the first swipe of our credit card that is done for hotel's security during the check in process; the room was dirty and we asked to change it; the breakfast is not included and you have to pay 4.5 pounds per person; the hotel is situated at Docklands with DLR trains connecting with the center, but it took about 2 hours in the evenening to reach the hotel from Piccadilly station.

Service and hospitality overall very good. They even provided us with beverages and snacks upon arrival long after closing hours. Be aware though: Do not let this hotel order taxi for you! They did for us, and 20 minutes late (!) a man came in a private poor car with his own "special" prices, bearly speaking English. We almost lost our bus and flight back home. The hotel is also situated some 25-30 minutes by tram (DLR) and subway (both needed) from downtown London, but the tram-stop is only 30 meters from the entrance :-)

Good for position

Automatic shutters hammer all room doors to the frames. Sounds like gunfire and feels like earthquake. One can only fall asleep, once the last guest of the floor has come home. Adjustment of shutters and rubber buffers recommended, low cost, great effect on quality. If this could be solved, all rates would be 8 and more!

I had one big problem, not with the hotel but with the reservation. I decided to arrive one day earlier than planned. Instead of making a seperate reservation and maybe be faced with changing rooms after the first day, I made a new reservation and cancelled the other one for three days. This was confirmed by your SMS service. On arrival I was told that they had expected me even one day earlier and taht all reservations were cancelled and all rooms in this category were now booked. Fortunately, they solved the problem by giving us a bigger room at the same price. Question to venere: Why is it not possible to amend a reservation the same way that it can be cancelled?

The hotel boasts 278 air-conditioned rooms but our room was not and no other rooms were offered. I suspected that we would not get A/C but this may not be clear to all customers. The hotel offers Wi-Fi Internet access but no internet without your own laptop. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is excellent and it is ok to stay in london with your friends.
