It is a small friendly hotel close to Paddington Station. The room was small and clean but the blankets should have been washed. The "bathroom" was the usual micro cabin. It was OK for us but not for someone over 190cm/90kg. The breakfast was good however I missed the fruits written on the page.

The hotel is located in a very good position (close to Paddinton station). The rooms are small but clean. At the end I can say that for the price of London, this is a quite good hotel for who doesn't need a Luxury hotel.

No col solito muro. A colazione marmellatine, nutella e i classici muesli, weetabix(che personalmente adoro) e vari affettati. MAncava solo il miele.

I was not impressed with my stay at the Columbus. I had read good reviews, but the hotel appears to have taken a turn for the worse. First, when we arrived at about 5 p.m., there was no one at the desk, and a note saying they would be back. I noticed that is not totally unusual for the row of hotels in this area. Then they first charged me one rate, but did not get the discount promised by the website. They gave it to me after I requested it. We got our room key, went up to the room and found other people's bags in the room. We went down and told them and they gave us another room. We had three people, and they had stuffed a cot into a room with one double bed. We had noticed, in our quick look into the other people's room, that they had two double beds which would have been much more comfortable. The shower was tiny and was the water pressure was quite weak. Breakfast was pretty sparse - a few cereals, bread for toast, and some cold cuts. The staff was friendly, but seemed to need some work. The hotel was convenient to Paddington Station where the train to Heathrow goes from, but I would not recommend the hotel for the price, 80 pounds (with the discount).

We were booked for 6 nights but we left after two, leaving them the money! Main problems not acceptable in a 3-star rated hotel at 150 €/night: -Full payment required at the arrival, instead of a simple print of the credit card as usual. -Room at the 3rd floor with no lift; very narrow stairs. No way out in case of fire other than said stairs… strong grating at the room window. -Very small room with an even smaller bathroom; almost no water from the tap. -The bathroom was not cleaned during the daily room refurbishment. -Strange smell in the room probably coming from the insecticide used against moquette moths and wooden floors woodworms. -Breakfast in the hotel small hall…10-15 minutes queue. -TV set remote control broken: asked for fixing with no action -No concierge during night… room magnetic key to be used for Hotel front door too.

Lower-cost hotel, 5 minutes from Paddington. Breakfast good. Noisy in the night. Room and bathroom-toilet is very small. The 'family room' is a double bed, a single bed, and a fold-up bed ,with little remaining space. The room demand repair! For a week have never changed bedding and have not cleaned a floor. The photographs online are a little more plush than reality.

Hotel Columbus is in a great location. Only a couple of minutes to Paddington underground and Paddington rail station. No lift in the hotel meant lugging suitcases up a few flights of stairs but it is an old building so thats to be expected. It was very hot when we stayed and as there is no air-conditioning a fan would have been appreciated in the room. Breakfast was very nice.

OK for an lower-cost hotel, 5 minutes from Paddington. Breakfast good, staff very helpful. As others have noted, rooms are small. The 'family room' is a double bed, a single bed, and a fold-up bed (comfortable enough), with little remaining space. Staff know the room is small and are appropriately apologetic. The photographs online are a little more plush than reality. These things were not a problem for us (2adults+2children under 10) for 3 days.

Ci siamo sempre sfamate!!! Niente ascensore e scale molto strette!!!

The quad room we booked is very small, more like a 2+1 beds and an additional wheeled one that just fits, but it was clean, with linens and towels changed for 4 people every day, small but fully functional bathroom, TV and telephone with external access and no charge for freefone numbers. The continental but rich breakfast is very good additional value for money, particularly for a family of 2+2 kids. Definitely above the average accomodation in the Paddington area. Nice pubs with good food and ale within walking distance. 5 minutes from Paddington Station is exceptional for getting anywhere in London on Buses and Underground. Recommended for a family or group of 3 or 4.

Suerte.

when we first arrived they claimed to have lost our reservation, when I showed them the print out they found a very small room on the top floor.Four people each with two bags up a very narrow winding stair case, was a terrible beginning. The fourth bed was a foldout cot, the miniscule bathroom literally fell apart within minutes. It was unbearable ,we couldn't get out soon enough. The breakfast in the morning was quite sparse but included a platter of moldy bread, totally unacceptable.First thing in the morning we found ouselves other accomodations.

The area is very nice, not far from Paddington Station and close to Hide Park. We were kindly welcomed and our things in the room nicely set. The only shadow is the noise from the street at night. You have to ask for a room situated behind. We just didn't dare to change because we didn't stay that long.

Columbus Hotel provided a clean room that was well located in London. Noise at night was a problem, but that may have been due to where our room was located. Only a few blocks from Paddington tube station. Small room and tiny bathroom. A lot of money to pay for this type of room, but London is a very expensive city. Very helpful front desk staff.

WE spent our journey only for three nights, but we are very satisfied about b&b for its location (2 minutes by Paddington metro-station and well-serviced by bus -very important for the night!-) and for breakfast... we have got a quadriple that was non spacious, but just for sleep it is ok!!!

Giudizio: Ottimo!

Upon check-in we were informed we had been 'upgraded' to the Best-Western Delmere hotel accross the road, hence this review is more for the Delmere than the Columbus which belongs to the same owners. The Delmere was an excellent hotel, good rooms, good buffet breakfast, good facilities and helpful staff, but unfortunately that means i cannot write a review for the Columbus as all i saw was the reception... it looked ok though ;-)

Hotel Columbus has an incredible good relationship between price/ quality for London. Rooms are nice and very clean, the position is great (near to the MM and to Heatrow Express), and the street is elegant too. The only problem is the noise from other rooms. But I'm sure I'll return to Columbus Hotel, it is a great place to stay in London!
