We had a twin room with ensuite. The latter was miniscule but clean. To have a shower one literally had to crouch in the corner but given that this is London we weren't expecting anything more for eur90 per night. Breakfast consisted of toast and croissant nothing fancy but good. There is no elevator for those on a shopping spree in London. Reception staff is helpful and welcoming and the area is safe and relatively quiet however, rather than being in Victoria area it is in Pimlico. Victoria Underground Station is about 10-12 mins walk away. Plenty of Pubs/ restaurants/supermarkets can be found within the Station's area.

This hotel is very good located, clean and warm; the breakfast is very simple but they easily gave us extra toast and croissants. I had a double room shared with my mum and it was very small (especially the bathroom, that was "a box").There was a teamachine and an hairdryer (this one not working but they kindly gave me another one). The staff was kind. We chose this hotel for the prize and location : it's really 9 minutes from Victoria metro/coach/train. It's good for discovering the city and staying away all day. Prices of London accomodation are very high and Caswell hotel is average.

I travelled to London alone and stayed there for 2 nights. I rented a private room. The room was really small but nice, with a wardrobe, water, coffe and tea. The hotel was very good located, near from Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station. The surrounding were very safe, and with some nice pubs around. I recommend this hotel.

The Caswell Hotel was in a very nice location- quiet neighborhood but close to Victoria Station and Westminster Abbey/Parliament buildings. There was a wide variety of restaurants near by. The room was quite small and there were eight flights of steps to rooms on the top floor. Rooms were generally clean but worn. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Everything was very good, the only bad thing was that our room was on the fourth floor and it was hard to get up to our room after a long day of sightseeing. Good service and polite employees.

This hotel is filthy!!! I was traveling with my 14 year old daughter and we had a twin room with shared bathroom. The littleness of the room was expected but it looked like it had never been cleaned and one of beds was broken. The blankets were horrible so we hid them in the closet along with the gastly teacups. Unfortunately we couldn't hide the curtains ... The hall smelled of fish and the shared shower had black corners, lots of hair in the drain and dirt on the walls. We are not touchy but we didn't feel clean after taking a shower ... The staff was trying to be friendly but could clearly not understand a message. Don't stay at this hotel - we recomned you go to Hotel Caring insted - same price but clean and friendly!

A nice and silent "hotel" down in Pimlico, in walking distance to Covent Garden and Tower. A sweet and simple breakfast served by most helpsom staff. The long walk from nearest tube (Victoria) with my travelbags was my only (and big) problem. (oh, yes, the fourth floor without lift...) Highly recomended to young folks without heavy luggage and willing to climb steep stairs (I was once, for approx 30 years ago...)

This hotel is tipically for people who wants to leave the hotel in the morning and return in the evening to sleep. The structure of the hotel is old, there's no lift to carry my luggage up to the fourth floor. When you walk on the floor it seems noisy because of the wood. The people who work here are cordial and helpful, rooms quite clean so it's a good hotel for a short stay as i did (4 nights). By walk in 15 minutes you can reach Westminster, Big Ben or Buckingham Palace. Only the nearest tube station is a bit far from the hotel, about 10 minutes walking.

It is great hotel with respect to the prices. the only problem is that Internet is of bad quality (always disconnection), and the door makes noise when people closes, actually slam, them (well it is a problem of habitants not the hotel itself). The rooms are small, but you can not expect larger rooms for such price. The staff is gentle and helpful.

It was the first time we stayed at Hotel Caswell Hotel. The welcoming of the staff was very good. Moreover, the location of the hotel is great. We had a double room with shared bathroom and shower. The six story walk-up with narrow stairways was a bit much with baggage! I strongly recommend against staying here if you are not able to climb stairs easily. Showers were COLD and had no pressure. I only saw three showers for the entire hotel. I couldn't use the one on my floor, as it never warmed up -- I had to walk down three floors to use a luke-warm one on the 3rd floor. Television was not hooked up nor plugged in. I don't even know if it worked. Great place to stay for just a bed to sleep in and a quick shower. I did not try their complimentary breakfast during my stay. I wish it was an add-on instead of included so I could save more of my cash.

Friendly and cosy atmosphere. Quiet but not deserted district well served by public transport. However the stay turned into a small disaster. The occupied room was just below the top of the building, all dressed with dark metallic plates. With nearly 32 degrees celsius even at night the impression one had was being trapped in a tank in the middle of a desert. Shower facilities definetely need improvement. At the top level, the pressure of the water was inadequate and the shower only large enough to unwilllingly step in and get out the soonest possible.

Hotels in London are very expensive compared to France, I could have the same in France for half the price and could say it too about three stars establishments ! Caswell hotel is good for quality/price in London. The welcome and reservation service is perfect. It's an equivalent of a good one star in France although it's a two stars...in London. Fine choice to me and thanks to all the staff.

The room we rented was for four people (my husband and I and our adult son and his girlfriend). The furniture was stuffed in, the accomodations weren't fancy, but they were clean and very comfortable. The bath and shower area was clean. The bed was comfy. There were plenty of tea and milk in the room. We were mostly out doing touristy things during the day. All the staff was very friendly and helpful and the meal was listed as a simple continental breakfast but it was served in a nice room and was delicious and VERY filling. We were expecting someplace "adequate" to lay our heads at the economy price we paid but were pleasantly surprised at the quality of service. Also, the bus and train station were conveniently close.

What bothered us most is the fact that this hotel was supposed to be non-smoking. When we arrived, the bedroom smelt cigarette as though someone had just smoked. There was a cigarette butt in the toilet. The last night, our neighbours smoked a lot and the smoke came into our room, we had to sleep with the window open. It even smelt cigarette in the dining room. It wasn't quiet at all, people could arrive any time and banged the doors, nobody told them anything. Actually, we barely slept the last night we stayed there. As for the shower, I had a cold shower on the first day. The man told us we had to use it full force, that's what we did and there was 5 cm water in the bathroom because the draining didn't work. To me, it seemed more like a youth hostel.

Bulb missing leaving live terminals in bedside lamp.( was sorted when pointed out but only with a non working bulb) Breakfast was quite good but there is an excellent cafe in Pimlico. I booked the hotel for one night as I had to depart early in the morning by coach. The worst thing – The public shower. At first glance I was happy to see the shower was near the room and didn’t check it. Late in the evening I found out the water was Cold. I tried another one which got flooded immediately and a third one which was quite the same and in addition the water was only warm (for a winter night it was terrible). The television also didn't work in my room which was underneath the stairs. The size of the room was o.k. and I was told I got promotion to a double room. For a couple – I find the bed was narrow. I didn't stay long enough to find out how the breakfast was.

We stayed two nights here. The room was small but clean. We noticed a bad smell when we had the window open (window facing the street) and it seems there is a sewer pipe open in the street so sometimes some bad smells waft in. The hotel personnel were friendly and accomodating. I did request a double bed in my notes on the reservation but they gave us two single beds. In the end after I showed them my reservation printout with my note, they offered us a double bed but it was at the top of the fourth walk up floor so we ended up preferring the single beds mid floor.

We needed a quad room for our us and our two children aged 10 and 14 years. Ours was on the ground floor at the front so was very handy for us and the road outside was not too noisy. It was two double beds and pretty cramped but we expected that in London for the price. The bathroom is just a walled off corner in the room and for the first couple of days the shower soaked the whole bathroom because the shower head pointed straight out and the curtain was too short. After we complaineded they changed the curtain and it was a lot better. There is a laudrette nearby that offers to do the laundry for you for a bit extra. Very handy unless you like watching washing machines on your holiday. We liked the location as it had a lot of nice small restaurants nearby yet was reasonably quiet on our street and was quite handy to Victoria Station.

Nice quiet place, 5 minutes from Pimlico station. The room is quite clean. We were unsatisfied with the shower and the safe didn't work. The breakfast is VERY modest. Overall, the hotel is OK.

This hotel is in a great location, 10 min walk to Victoria Station. Some bars and restaurants around too.

The staff and employees were polite and did their jobs efficiently. We had breakfast included with our stay and were given tea or coffee, orange juice, croisants or toast, preserves, and a variety of fruit and cold cereals to choose from. While in London, we ate dinner at a nearby fish & chips restaurant, a nicely decorated Indian restaurant (we like curries), and a Mediteranian shish-ka-bob resaurant.

This was a nice, clean hotel about an 8 minute walk from victoria station. The showers are very dodgy though and your room key doesn't let you into the hotel whihc was very odd. Every time you leave the premises you have to ring the front bell to get back in (which wasn't a problem because of 24 hour reception but would be much easier if your key just opened it itself) and no fridge for your room was annoying considering it cost so much. otherwise a very pleasant stay

Okay, it's not the Ritz, but it's really well situated, the people are nice and the breakfast is good. The prices are what they are in London, i.e. too high but it's still a good deal. The room (number 9, a twin bed en suite) was small and the bathroom even smaller but it was expected. This room was pretty quiet so we slept well. Overall, it was a good experience! I would definitely go back to this hotel.

If it wasn't for Hotel Caswell, I would have regretted my holiday. This hotel is clean, well run, in a good area, quiet etc. I would live here at any time. I have paid almost double these rates for similar rooms in a travel lodge. Breakfast was nice. It was a continental breakfast but well presented. The staff where all friendly and efficient too.

Though the room is small, but very clean and staff are nice. However the shower is weak. Location is a bit farther away from station as expected, but still conveniently located near bus stop (No.24), and with lots of place to eat nearby, also the Sainbury Supermarket.

We stayed only 3 days and we find room and bathroom clean and comfortable, even if the door of bathroom had got a little problem ...opening it required much patience for the terrible sound it made! we payed total price for 3 nights at the arrival, and breakfast was very good, with tea or coffee, croissant, toast, butter and marmelade, no english breakfast was offered. Beds were made every day and all was clean, moquette apart! we always recommend to walk with shoes or socks, as afterall in every hotel. If I would return in London maybe I'd come in this Hotel. In the same area you can find a lot of hotels. I tried two of them in the past and Caswell is the best, referring to price/quality. You have to remember that London is very expensive. The only problem we had was that they changed us the room for the last night telling it only the day we had to change, not before paying. It was uncorrect, and not professional but they didn't take care of our disapointment

As a moderately priced hotel the Caswell was better than we expected. Centrally located, Friendly and competent staff, clean enough, better than usual breakfast. Our room was quiet, albiet brightly lit. The only complaint I have is that the cord to the permanently attached blow dryer was a frayed fire hazard. Overall, I would definately recomment this hotel to travellers on a budget.

We stayed in a 4-bedroom located on the ground floor just beside the entrance. We were disturbed of loud noices from the entrance door when guests rang the bell and when they closed the door. The bathroom was like a small plastic cabin placed in the bedroom. We have never seen something like that before! There were 2 beds in the room but they were only 140 cm, so there were not much space for each one of us. First night was like a nightmare. One of the beds were broken and it was impossible to sleep in it. We can't imagine that previous guests have slept in that bed without complaining. After complaining the manager gave us a bed from another room. (We still wonder which in room he placed the broken bed!) Caswell is a low budget hotel. I don't know what the other rooms are like, but if you would like to stay in this hotell I recommend you to ask for a room on the 1 floor or above that. Avoid the rooms on the basement or groud floor!

Excellent Location, Near to most landmarks and transportation. Very helpful staff. Rooms were vey small by American standards, but for the over all hotel prices in London the price was very fair. I would stay at this hotel again.

For the price I paid I expected to be in a great location, but expected a small room—I did fear based on the previous reviews that it would be a nightmare. With respect the first, it was within 15 minutes walk of the main attractions, close to eating places, and, most of all, quiet (at least for London). The lobby was a small office and the staff was curtious, but recall people from different countries have different manorisms that could be percieved as abrasive (keep an open mind). There was no elevator, so I hope you have a strong back if you have big bags. The room was small by American standards, but for the center of London, acceptable (room 19 has a full size bed, closet, sink, and small night stands, with about a 5’x5’ space to move around). The room and bathroom was clean, sheets were clean, clean towels, carpet was clean, the small TV worked, tea and coffee station, and it was quite (the hotel was not full so we did not hear too many people). The room was cleaned each day and we felt the hotel was quite secure. The entire hotel received new carpet and paint, and it seems that during December 2006 the hotel was being remodeled. Breakfast included 2 cresants, juice, fruits, cereal, and coffee or tea. The breakfast staff was polite and fast, the place was small, but clean. I would recommend this hotel for its price and location.

This hotel is definitely a great place to stay in London for couple of days becasue of the price. It is relatively low while the location can't be better. It's easy to get anywhere in downtown (you can walk or take a cab). The rooms are pretty small though, but I guess this is the way it is in London. The only thing which was really inconvenient, it's a tiniest shower! But I still recommend getting a room with a bathroom in it as oppose to having to use a public one (you have to go up and down the stairs to get there). Overall impression was pretty good.

We had a room with a bathroom that was practically unusable, hot water didn't work well (you could choose betweend getting burnt or frozen). There was a very old and dirty chair in the room. People working in the breakfast area were very nice. We were asked to pay all nights as we got there, this never happened to me before in a hotel, but maybe it's a common practice in England and I don't know about it.

Excellent location on quiet street, with cafes and shops two blocks away. Friendly atmosphere in the whole hotel, both employees and other guests. Small but comfortable rooms. No lobby, but a nice breakfast room. Taps take some getting used to: cold water is hot at first but cools down after a while, and vice versa.

Meine Tochter und ich waren vom 10. Okt. bis 11. Oktober 2006 in diesem Hotel.
