Great location near the train station. Breakfast was okay. The room was small but clean and quiet. It had a small air conditioning unit but it could not keep the room cool enough as it was hot while we where in London. Overall I would recommend the Castleton Hotel.

We had a twin room, smallest available. It was adequate for us for one night, arriving by train & leaving by Heathrow, using Paddington Express train. Very convenient location for us. Nice restaurants all around the area, tour buses stop on same block. Everything to make travel easy close by including train station & underground. The 3 desk staff were excellent help to us and the breakfast was very good, as were the serving staff. For a last minute booking, the price was very good. The staff were so kind and helpful, they deserve a 10 rating. Location was excellent too. Hotel had a lift!!!!!

This is just a clean place to lay your head.our room was immediately disappointing as we were directed to -2 on the lift. Gloomy on a lovely day, just a basement room ,black streaks on the wall above the lamps, tele wouldnt work, capsule shower, tepid breakfast,no fruit, yoghurt etc.Noisy machinery outside room, people walking on the floor above, dont expect a good nights sleep. Good location. booked it because it had three beds and full english .No bar or facilities, only two cups for a three bed room,no biscuits ...£179 for this.

This hotel is good value for its London location. Our room was quite small for a double, but we didn't stay in London in order to stay in the hotel room, so it was big enough for our needs. A good breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We had a room at basement level which was ok on the whole but a bit noisy in the morning as it was near the kitchen. But the room was clean and bathroom spacious. The breakfast was very good and generous. Receptionists were all very helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent and that is very important in London as it saves you travelling time. The surroundings are very friendly and safe. I recommend this hotel.

This was the smallest room I had ever stayed at in London, and I'm not fussy about accommodation. The twin beds were narrower than standard single beds and I had to sleep without moving, otherwise I risked falling off. There was barely any space to walk around the beds; the only horizontal surface other than the beds was an old bedside cabinet, on top of which were a telephone and the tv remote; there was no beside lamp and we had to insist to have one; when we got it, it was so big that there was no other space for anything else. Even the coffee tray was a tiny shelf suspended in a corner, with one double saucer for the two cups, which we had to hold together in our hand sitting on the bed. We had one chair and no table; the wardrobe was a narrow nook in the wall with shelves but no door. But the masterpiece was the bathroom: a built-in plastic cabin the dimensions of an aeroplane toilet plus a narrow shower space. I mean literally. Many tourists say that the quality of the room is not so important as you don't spend much time in it, but really, this felt like being in prison. And the price was not after all so cheap.

clean hotel, good location, breakfast ok. on the other side walls extremely thin , tiniest rooms I have ever seen, and if lucky you may have heating in your room or maybe blankets( i was not) . London is supposed to have hotels like this one ..but at a cheaper price!!

the room is incredibly small, the bed is adjacent/touched to the wall, so access to the bed at one side only !, the lift was out of order and nobody helped (even asked) us to carry our luggages, no fresh air in the breakfast room/at the basement, the coffee and tea were not at good quality, the staff was not professional, i am disappointed and it is for the first time with the venere.com.

The Castleton Hotel´s best attribute is it´s location. It is close to Paddington Station and an assortment of shops, bars and eateries. I read through many accommodation types and reviews when it came to selecting a place to stay on my recent trip to London. Having stayed previously in another hotel on Sussex Gardens (which was very disappointing), I was a bit dubious. But the reviews overall for Castleton Hotel were favourable. Thus I decided to book it. The staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous. Always saying hello and goodbye/night. That is always a nice start or end to the day. The hotel on appearance was tidy (except for the elevator floor). And the foyer/entrance was neat and presentable. I had read that the rooms and bathrooms were rather small. This was an understatement. And the only real disappointment in the whole experience. Apart from that, I had a pleasant stay. And would return. Great price!

The first stay was on the second floor and it was wonderful. A/C, nice linens, good breakfast, great location (close to Paddington), good places to eat (Garfunkles has a good selection)and several little grocery stores for snacks etc. The second stay, we were on the ground floor facing London St. The road noise was quite bad and the beer truck arriving at the pub across the street at 5 am was quite annoying. Get any room except the ground floor!

The hotel is in a quiet area, a few blocks from Paddington station. The room itself was also very quiet, although very small. The staff was nice, and while they have free wifi connections, they weren't able to help me figure out why my iPhone wasn't connecting (they said there have been problems with Macs). The full English breakfast was quite good. But here's the problem - the pod bathroom, which IS small although very clean, had an awful sulphur smell that permeated the room. I liked everything else about the Castleton, but that smell was strong and nasty! Bring air fresheners!

Very clean room. Well equipped. Good price. Great location in terms of proximity to the Underground. Room and bathroom was pretty small, but I did not care much about that. Breakfast was included in price and was quite decent. Only real complaint -- there was construction going on right outside my window (the construction workers were less than 10 feet away) and had I wanted to stay in the room past waking up time it would have been very uncomfortable.

We got a very small room and I beleive that all rooms are like that. There was barely space to move in the room and the shower-room was so small that it was almost impossible to move in the shower. Moreover, there was only two internet connections (not wireless) in the small lobby of the hotel, so we could connect using our laptops. There was no internet in the rooms.

Castleton Hotel was a gread choice for our stay in London, since it was only 3 minutes from Paddington station. it was very easy to get to the centre of the town, not to mention Hyde Park. The rooms were clean, freash, clean sheets every day as well as the towels. The only thing that was a bit irritating was the fact that some guests could be noisy at times. but in overall, very good.

My stay at the Castleton Hotel far exceeded my expectations. The room had been recently renovated and the choice of decor was wonderful. Although small by US standards, the room was quite big enough and the bathroom was delightful. I spent time in Hyde Park and in the surrounding areas. All were easy to access by foot and very pleasant to visit. The English breakfast was tasty and attractively served.

Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful; others were surly. The rooms were tiny and things like light fixtures non-functional. The shower was dirty with mildew between tiles. The room was terrifically noisy as it was facing the street. At least, however, the bed was quite comfortable. Really not such a bad place for the money. I'd spend more for a better room next time as you certainly do get what you pay for, although perhaps not so in expensive London.

One thing that you should be aware of is that there is no elevator (lift) in the hotel. We were given a room on the top floor (3rd) which means carrying suitcases up three flights of a narrow staircase. The room was small but satisfactory. It was a little noisy from a pub across the street and this after I had requested a quite room. The included breakfast was excellent for the price and the room it was served in was spacious. The hotel is convenient to Paddington station. We stayed three nights and decided to book another night when we returned to London for our trip home. We were promised a room on the first floor and the charge would be an extra 15 pounds, but when we got back they tried to give us the same room on the top floor and with the extra charge. After arguing we were given a room on the 2nd floor for our original price.

Clean and convenient. Really close to Paddington Station, so great for coming back late from theatres. Was unable to open my curtains in the morning as a tradesman worked on a project at my window in the morning, but I guess this doesn't happen for every visit.
