Alhambra Hotel - London

In central London hotel rooms at the lower end of the market are always tiny and the price high for what you get. Within that, this hotel provides good value for money. English or continental breakfast is included in the price and is a good deal. Location is outstanding for King's Cross/St. Pancras stations, or the British Library (in my case). This was my 2nd stay here and I would happily stay again.

Good value for the money. The staff was serviceminded and nice to talk to. Small but clean rooms. Nice English breakfast. Good location, very close St Pancras station and Kings cross. Easy to find with help from directions from the hotel. We will come back!

The map showing how to get to the hotel from Kings Cross Station was confusing. It lacked street names and just about everything else. Even locals could not help us. We wandered around for at least 45 minutes before finally finding it. I think that clearer directions are needed. Overall the stay was good. The free breakfast was decent and it was in a great location right by a major train station. I would stay again. :)

Our room was on the ground floor opposite the main hotel and next to the front door, so we had some noise of people going in and out and from the room upstairs, particularly from the plumbing and waste systems. The road was quiet, though, despite being very close to Euston Road, one of the busiest roads in London. The room was smallish but ok for us. The bathroom was tiny (shower and toilet only) and the washbasin was in the room rather than in the bathroom. The bedlinen was clean and crisp, but I have trouble sleeping under blankets and wish I had brought a duvet with me. I did sleep ok but rather fitfully - perhaps that is me rather than the room. Breakfast was across the road in the main hotel and we had to queue for about 15 minutes on a Sunday morning for a table. Service and food were good when we sat down and they even had porridge as well as the usual full english and continental breakfasts. One issue was that we only wanted to stay one night but were told that wasn't possible at weekends. The venere.com website, however, allowed us to book only one night so we were happy with that. Overall, for a central London hotel with breakfast for under £100 it was quite acceptable.

Location, location!!! Breakfast is GREAT. Internet fast, lots of hot water, confy room. Secure and nice soraundings. I will go back.
