Great location, at the heart of Ljubljana. Staff is very competent and kind, ready to assist the client at any need. Breakfast was delicious, with a whole lot of different local food. Healthy corner was a treat. Ms. Polona, from the reception desk, was specially nice and helpful thoroughout my stay.

The City Hotel is in an ideal location...a short walk to the Old Town and all of its attractions. I cannot speak too highly of the staff. I had a family crisis while I was staying there recently and they could NOT have been more helpful or understanding. Urska was outstanding...nothing was too much trouble. The cafe had great coffee and snacks at very reasonable prices. An extremely comfortable stay.

Good hotel, in strategic position. Very impressive the common areas, a little dated the room. Very helpful staff at the reception. Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli, cakes, fresh bread and marmelade, hot and cold beverages and a lot of salted solutions. Internet point at the entrance, garage with few places (better to reverve it by phone, it costs 15euro more). Definitely an hotel to recommend.

This hotel is in an excellent position, on the edge of the old town and easy walking distance from the rail and bus stations. The room was attractive and more spacious than you would expect for the price; it was also cool and quiet. The breakfast was first rate, and the hotel offered some nice extras, all of which were free, such as PCs with internet access, bicycles to borrow and a small library area with books and newspapers.

Great location - midway between the train/bus station and the Old Town, easy walking distance either way. The rooms were a bit small but Ljubljana was so interesting that we didn't spend much time in the hotel. Very nice breakfast buffet with lots of choices.

My sister and I stayed here twice - twin beds - first stay we had a superior room, second stay a standard room. Superior room was larger, nicer shower, more upgrades. Great location to walk through the old city. Great breakfasts. Only drawback was that the A/C cooled minimally.

Probably one of the best hotels my girlfriend and I have ever stayed in. Excellent staff, excellent rooms, close to everything (but the airport, of course). Staff went out of their way to get low cost airport transportation for us. Directions were acturate and always with a smile. The breakfast was the best during our trip to Venice and Portovenere, Italy. I will go back to complete my visit to Slovenia and to stay at the City Hotel. Excellent price. Free internet. I will use the City Hotel as an outstanding standard for other hotels in my travels.

The website was unclear as to the difference between the standard and upgraded rooms. Having seen both, it pays to upgrade in the summer esp. The standard rooms do not have airconditioning. The premium room had a much nicer bathroom and facilities. Also parking costs were unclear. It is 15 euro/day which can add up for multiple days. There is on street parking but you need to hassle with meters every two hours during the daytime. When you budget parking and premium room upgrades, the hotel is really competing with higher priced hotels. Saying all this, it was a nice hotel with a generous breakfast. I just wish they would have been more upfront about the added costs.

In comparison with other places in Eastern Europe, Ljubljana hotels are very expensive. But if you want to stay in the centre of town, and have three/four star facilities, according to several people, there is no choice. The Venere price raised eyebrowes at 129E, because the going price was 160E. Sensational location, great town. Go in low season.

One of my best stays on a 5 country 8 city trip. Very convenient location four blocks to RR station and four blocks to the old town historic area. Bathroom and room were both spacious. Hotel staff were especially knowledgable and friendly. There was an Industrial Design conference while I was there so that influenced higher prices I'm sure. Breakfast had every possible item to choose from - one of benefits of a larger hotel: Many amenities: bicycle rentals , free photocopies of newpaper in common area etc...

Well located, nice hotel with very good breakfast, but they are renovating parts of the hotel until summer 2007, so there was quite a bit of noise and some parts felt like a building site. Please note also that there is NO air-conditiong for the moment (equipment installed, but not working), which was almost unbearable, since temperature outside was around +30C and very humid.
