This was a one night stop between Livorno port and Bologna. In that sense the hotel was excellent: comfortable, well priced and relatively easy to find (provided you have a GPS). Worth of mention are the exhilarating views of Livorno bay from the room's window. That alone would have made the stay worth it.

Nice place, very nice people but just a little suggestion: be more carefull with bathroom. ( you have to wait very long until having hot water, such a shame when you think water is precious nowaday and the shower is a bit old)

Hotel was very difficult to find and not easy to access. The area around the Hotel was rather run down which detracted from the Hotel itself which was spacious and comfortable without having the elegance we had expected. We had a lovely evening meal at the Hotel and paricularly enjoyed the magnificent view from the panoramic terrace. We felt reception could have been more welcoming on arrival but our view may well have been influenced by the difficulties we had in finding the Hotel.

The breakfast is not in accordance with what we expected from this hotel: only plastic recipients, no food quality, no choice, cold and bad coffee. Really, this aspect must be improved!

Everything was fine in this hotel, we wish to remark only 2 items: availability of parking lots is limited! If you are coming late (even with reservation), you will have to park your car in the street, which however is quite dark and gives the impression not to be safe. Second is: Breakfast provided is below standard, especially if you have to leave early, e.g. in order to catch a ferry from Livorno

Found it OK with Sat Nav, but very narrow twisty little roads all around. It is not central! Very near there are several eating places if you dont fancy the hotel restaurant which is a bit lacking atmosphere. We had a nice large room with sea view as ordered. The only negative was the aircon that just didn't do the job.

Other travellers are correct, this place is difficult to pin-point, even when using GPS! I took advise and we ate at a nearby restaurant. The accomodation is very relaxing with spectacular views - on a clear day.

Very difficult to find. Near impossible in the dark. Essentially, follow signs to either Santuario or Montenero. Ask the hotel to e mail directions to you. If you ever reach the square at the Sanctuary, there is a small sign for the hotel on the wall near the Sanctuary entrance. Drive steeply uphill up a narrow road beside the sign. Turn right, go another 400 metres and the hotel is on left. Lovely location good rooms and good value for money. Staff efficient and sensible. The food was terrible, both dinner and breakfast. You would do better to walk the few metres to the nearby square where there is a good choice (4 minutes) I wish I had! It's more interesting too.

The accommodation was generally very good and the hotel is set in a lovely area. We enjoyed our stay but we have a small number of criticisms: the hotel is not easy to find and directions could be clearer coming from the north; the one evening meal at the hotel was awful and included rotten lettuce (breakfast choice should be more varied from day to day); customer service was variable and certainly no attempt was made to rectify our displeasure with the meal which was relatively very poor value for money

Hotel a bit difficult to find and access by car is not easy - parking very tight. But location is superb and if you have a room overlooking the sea, the view is stunning. Hotel was quiet and comfortable - stayed only one night and dinner in restaurant looked uninspiring so we ate in village in cheap but good restaurant. Hotel breakfast basic but adequate. Overall the hotel was good value and enjoyable to stay in.

Hard to find. Follow the signs to 'Santuario di Montenero' and look out for the red building on top of the hill. If you are looking for a restaurant nearby, ask for the way to 'La Terrazza' (5min. by car)

Nice and calm place up in the mountains with a breathtaking view of Livorno and the coast of the Mediterrean, though somewhat tricky to find. Twin bed provided as wanted. First morning there were no bread rolls other than croissants and no salami, ham and/or cheese and a terrible orange juice. Improved to the second morning. Free parking. We found a very nice trattoria "da Maria" a cople of minutes walk to Piazza di Montenero where we had two delicious dinners.

The staff was very friendly and, as we called to tell the time of our arrival, they gave us very good directions to reach the Hotel. At the morning we left much earlier of the time fixed for breakfast, but even at six in the morning the man at the bar managed to make us a full breakfast! One only complaint: the dinner was served in a nice place, but the food wasn't so good.

This was a comfortable hotel, with smart, plain bedroom. The outside area has lovely sea views, it is near the top of a hill. It has a good outside restaurant in summer, nice food. The written directions are difficult to follow. They are too basic, more information needs to be added about what to look out for.

This hotel has the most beautiful view of the ocean. From way up on a hill you see the ocean and the docks. We ate dinner at the hotel every single night of our stay--it was that good. The price was great, the rooms were HUGE, and the people were very nice. You can get to a rocky beach from hear in about 10 minutes and a sandy beach in about 30 minutes.

I was impressed by the amability, the kindness of the people working in this hotel, specially the man at the front desk. It feels good to be greeted as well. The location is very beautiful and very peaceful. It is a good idea though to go on viamichelin or mapquest to prepare your trip ans find the location of this hotel which is above Libourno.

Perched high on a mountain overlooking Livorno and the sea and located near a lovely very small town piazza, this hotel is a gem. If you are happy to explore winding roads and paths, sit in the sun just gazing, read on the porch, this place is for you. If you want hustle and bustle try another place. Just wonderful.

The hotel was in a beautiful location on the hills of Montenero. We thought it would be closer to the beach, but a taxi is needed to get there. The surrounding town is very quiet and peaceful, though not much to do. Very friendly people in town and on staff. The room was very clean, quiet, and spacious.

This was easily the best place of any we stayed at on our vacation. One minor problem of having to ask for our toilet paper two days in a row, but everything else was excellent. The value of the room and hotel to us greatly exceeded its cost. On our leaving, the hotel desk manager kindly bestowed a gift of local honey that was an unexpected bonus to our stay.

We loved our stay at La Vedetta di Montenero. I was unsure of what to expect, but the mountain top location, the large room, the view from our room, and the beautiful historical church were very much appreciated after driving north from Rome. The hotel staff recommended a small family-run restaurant (a short walk from the hotel) for dinner and we enjoyed great food and a bottle of local wine.
