Hotel Rex - Livorno

Excellent hotel

We stayed on 2 occasions in June. The first time for 2 nights was a disaster, the room was dirty, the toilet was a disgrace, bits were falling off the shower cubcle and the air conditioning didn't work. When I complained I was told that the hotel was full and they could not give us another room. The cleaners were sent to the room to clean it properly, but nobody could fix the a/c. We decided to stay but when we went to breakfast at 10 15 the next morning we were told it had finished. My argument that it states clearly on the web site that breakfast is till 10 30 was met with a shrug of the shoulders. I was told that when I returned in 3 days time we would be given a better room and to be honest it was a very nice room with a sea view and at no extra charge (I don't think they would have the nerve to do that). If you book a room here ask for 1 in the white building part not the brown part.

Avevo letto commenti negativi in relazione alla pulizia, ma mai avrei immaginato di trovare un assorbente (per fortuna non ancora utilizzato) sulla finestra del bagno e delle feci nel water anche se sull'asse c'era la fascia che indicava l'avvenuta igienizzazione del water... non commento il resto perchè è da escludere solo per questo..

The best (from the website) - the panorama restaurant was closed and I was quite disapointed. The rooms were very small but O.K. We spent some pleasant hours in the american bar with life music. We arrived quite late in the afternoon and had to leave early in the next morning, so we couldn't feel the maritime flair of the location but it might be nice at daytime.

Prima volta all'hotel rex e sono rimasto stupito dalla posizione dell'albergo, dalla camera ti puoi quasi tuffare in mare. ottima l'accoglienza e la disponibilità dello staff. Ristorante eccellente come pure la carta dei vini.

the room is classical italian vintage beach style '70 (bare furnishing, no carpet/moquette). the bathroom is nice. wrong sign: room with windows frames too old.
