I was in Lisboa for six days and the service from the staff was exceptional. They went out of their way to direct me to interesting areas, told me the easiest way to get some where and were incredibly pleasant and helpful. The hotel was close to everything, great reastraunt down the street for dinner, lunch etc. A few bars close by for a snack. Would stay again.

A very small Inn (3 rooms) right around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. It was so quiet, and the room was huge. The bathroom was very modern. The Continental breakfast was juice, coffee, and croissant, but heck you're in Rome, many places to eat. It truly was a joy to stay here, and you cannot beat the location! The only reason I give the public areas a 7, is because other than the patio for breakfast there aren't any, but it didn't matter as we didn't need any. Stay here, it is wonderful!

My wife and i plus our friends all senior citizens spent five wonderful days in this hotel. All staff were friendly and efficient and went out of their way to make sure our stay was a happy one. When returning from our evening meal in the town we were greeted by a wonderful smile from Olivia in reception. Our room was a bit noisy with the window open but that was minor. The breakfast was very good with excellent service. Highly recommended.

A clean room, all the amenities, elevator, good location on a beautiful boulevard. As other reviews have noted, the street is noisy but the windows are excellent for soundproofing. On superhot days (30+) the air conditioning struggled to keep up. But in all, a great experience at a good price.

Hotel was easy to find, more or less straight off the airport bus. Customer service at reception could have been improved as we were left looking invisible for quite a while before we were seen to. Rooms were fine, if a little bit on the small side. The hotel has a rather grand staircase but guests are barred from using this and have to go in search of a lift elsewhere. We'd booked room only so can't comment on the breakfasts. What we do know is that there's a very nice cafe a few doors down the Avenida which is well-used by locals and kept us going for breakfasts, and for teas before we turned in. My room had an excellent safe. It would have been even better if it was attached to something, rather than just sitting on the floor of the wardrobe so that a thief could have just walked off with it.

A very disappointing impression of the hotel, the location is the only positive feature of the hotel. The room was supposed to be a triple room but was a twin room with a small extra bed. The room is old and in need of modernising. Noise carried from the corridor and rooms above. The staff was not very helpful.

Hotel is in a good location on Avenida. Handy for Airport Bus. Staff were friendly and obliging. However, lack of daylight in the internal rooms makes the accommodation feel oppressive. Breakfast cost €8.50 on top of the room rate booked on the Venere web site and was basic. Also, breakfast room is too small and cramped to cope with all the guests at one time.

We are three middle aged ladies who met up at the hotel for a reunion - my friends came from the USA. Everything went smoothly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The triple room was very spacious and comfortable. No view - just a shaft. But we had everything we needed. The shower is a bit old and difficult, but eventually we worked it out and it was good. The hotel is centrally located so that we were only a short distance from everything we wanted to do and see, with good public transport nearby. The staff were excellent - very professional, but friendly and extremely helpful. The little bar is lovely - so cosy and a good place to meet up with other guests. We loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again! In fact, because I live in Northern Portugal, I'm planning a trip there with my husband.

Very good welcoming by staff, very friendly, very good food, cleanliness very well. Might need a bit of a refresh in general (balcony needs some paint, flags could be repared, entrance overhead could be repaired). But very good price/quality and we would certainly go back again to the hotel on a next trip to Lisboa.

We chose this hotel because we wanted something quaint and centrally located, and we weren't disappointed. We like to walk or use the local metro, and were pleased to discover that the Veneza is situated on a broad, tree-lined boulevard with lovely mozaic designs in the sidewalks. It was only a 2-block walk to the metro station, allowing quick & easy access to other parts of town. Our room was a double overlooking the street, and was quite spacious with two French doors allowing access to a tiny balcony facing the street. When we checked in the beds were arranged as 2 twins, but when we asked to have a room with one bed, they offered to put the beds together for us which worked perfectly. We were charmed by the hotel's practice of displaying flags representing nationalities of its guests. A drawback is the size of the breakfast room, which is almost too small for the size of the hotel. Tip: Get your coffee out of the thermal pot next to the machine, because it's freshly made, rather than drinking the machine-made product which is awful. All in all, great value for the money, & a place we'd return to & recommend to others.

The location is perfect, right in the centre and you can walk everywhere. Shops and cafés are all near. However, the rooms smell of stale tobacco smoke and either need to be renovated or all the carpets, curtains, furniture etc properly cleaned to get out the smell. There are no 'no smoking' signs in the rooms so clients must be lighting up even though they are not meant to. The double rooms with one double bed are just tiny, not big enough for a couple and the bathrooms really tacky. The triple room, however, is very spacious and comes wih a large bathroom with a bath and bidet and a window to open, albeit onto a back wall. It would be worth paying the extra for the triple. The rooms with two single beds are adequately sized. Coffee, tea comes from a machine and is horrible. I do think they could make the effort and have fresh coffee in the morning and at least some tea bags to make tea with. Other than that the breakfast is fine. If you plan on major sightseeing and not spending much time in the hotel the location cannot be beaten. But bring along a scented candle, you'll need it!

This was our second visit to Lisbon and our first stay at VIP Inn Veneza. Having already made our reservation for 3 nights elsewhere we needed to add an extra night & our original hotel was unable to accommodate us. We booked this one night stay on the internet at a special rate and was very impressed, much better value than our main booking at the other establishment. We would stay again.

An excellent hotel in a great location for a very reasonable price. We could walk very easily to the main sights and restaurants at night. Our double room was on the 3rd floor but had a sloping roof so we had to be very careful not to bang our heads going around the room. The only critisism I would make with the hotel is that the breakfast room is too small and cramped for the number of rooms within the hotel and there were problems getting a table at busy times, there were only 7 tables for the whole room/hotel. Other than this we found it great for a short city break and would definately choose it again.

The location of the hotel is its best feature. The room was huge but we did book a tripple to assure we wouldn't have to share a bed! Very dated decor but clean enough. Main downer was that our room was opposite a torturously noisy lift which kept us up all night! Breakfast room very small and elbow to elbow, and continental breakfast consisted of stale pastries and stewed coffee! No tea... odd considering so many tourists there.

Overall the facility was fine except for a tacky and not very clean carpet throughout. Security is pathetic and I think they have an employee who is a thief. I had 2 incidents that should be outlined and relate to the security of the hotel, which is very lacking. The doors are locked with an old fashioned key system. In addition they use door chains and ours was broken. We checked keys at hotel requst at the front door when we left. The day we left for the airport an expensive shirt was inadvertently left in the closet. We called from the airport and were told they had the shirt when in fact they did not. I believe the shirt was kept by housekeeping or staff. 2) We believe a digital camera was stolen from the room. We admit we should have secured our valuables better, but the overall security of this hotel is very lacking. When we mentioned this to hotel staff, we did not get any assistance. It was as if they did not care. It is surprising this facility would get a 3 Star rating for this purpose alone. We will not stay there again and will not use this web service as we think it is not a fair representation.

We are very pleased with our stay at the Veneza Hotel. The property is a very nice old building in one of Lisboa's main avenues. We stayed in the top floor, which I believe was the building's original attic, for which the room shrinks a bit, but it gives it an old fashioned vibe, with the roof windows and all. If you stay in one of the lower levels you won´t have a problem, but you will miss those windows and Lisbon's fresh air delivered right through... The bathroom is amazingly spacious for a european hotel. The location is just perfect, within walking distance to Lisbon touristic area and a block away from the metro station, and still in a very quiet area. We can only complain about the cleaning lady trying to get into our room twice, like they didn't know we were there, but other than that our stay was just perfect. I will definitely stay in this hotel the next time we're in Lisboa.

We had to use the only chair as a second bedside table. The carpet was stained from a leaking window when it rained. The room, though basically cosy and comfortable, was spoilt by having a carpet with an outdated corporate logo and is due for some redecoration. The Hotel is in a good position on a very attractive avenue and easy reach of the airport bus stop and the Avenida Metro station. The breakfast supplied was good but the breakfast room is quite small and we had a long wait on one day for a table. Overall our stay was enjoyable.

Hotel has nice interior. Rooms are small, if you do mind. There are better hotels in Lisbon with the same price.

Very well located for city centre on a lovely tree lined avenue, excellent places to eat all around the hotel especially for fish dishes. The main entrance to the hotel is quite impressive with a beautiful staircase and murals on the wall(although you cannot go up the stairs directly)Small but adequate reception to the right and small bar to the left, bedrooms are quite small but comfortable, the dining room is very small so you need to be in there early to ensure you have a table, breakfast cold continental style which again was adequate but would have prefered a hot cooked breakfast being british,All of the staff we found were very friendly down to the chambermaids. This holiday was booked as a Christmas present for my husband(we do a city break every year so it was no surprise really except he never knows where he is going to)this trip he especially enjoyed as he was most impressed with Lisbon and the surrounding area's of Sintra Estoril and Cascais. We will definitely be returning to Lisbon and to this hotel.

Quirky and charming. Excellent location in terms of walkability to train station, historic areas, excellent restaurants. Wall paper in room looked worn and tired, but it's Europe, right? Excellent value for money.

The room was as described but alittle bit dark and noisy (bad sound isolation) Otherwise this hotel is very convenient and well situated. We had a very good stay in this hotel as the team is professional.

I was given a room in the top floor of this hotel and it was about 2/3 of a real room. the ceiling was arched and if you slept on the left side of the bed the ceiling as about 10 inches form your head. That room in that hotel, believe it eas room 30 or 32, can't remember as I hit my head on the ceiling too many times. It should be half the price.

Wonderful location, wonderful helpful staff. Small breakfast room means long wait on busy mornings, but the breakfast is ample. Would stay here again in a minute.

Great location but our room was stuffy, crowded, and dingy. The breakfasts were great, however. We still had a wonderful time in Lisbon because we weren't in our room that much.

The first night we were put in an attic room which only had about one eighth of a full height ceiling. I'm short but could not stand up straight either in the bedroom or bathroom. The second night they moved us to the first floor and the room was very small and not very clean with a window overlooking a shaft and the next bedroom. The pillows were about one inch thick and when we asked for more we were told there were none available. Would not recommend this hotel except for the situation and the staff were very nice.

The breakfeast room is really tiny and breakfeast regular. The location is perfect and although the hotel is situated on the main avenue it is surprisingly quiet. You should not be claustrophobic, as the lift is small and you cannot use the staircase.

The worse of the hotel is the breakfast, both as quality and variety offered and most importantly for the very small room and few tables available. In other terms in the morning there is a queue for breakfast!

Nice hotel, not far from the city center. Large rooms but I got a twin room instead of a double and there was no way to change it (I booked at least 10 days in advance!) because the hotel was full.

The hotel has a good situation on one of the main roads near the center of Lisbon. The hotel hasn't got a restaurant but there are enough facilities nearby. The hotel is excellent for a stay during a city trip.

The hotel is ideally located for a city break. The staff were extremely helpful and made us most welcome. The rooms and communal areas were kept very clean and tidy throughout our stay. Sergio, a most hospitable barman, looked after us throughout our stay, helped us with 'where to visit', where to eat and furnished us with an excellent guide book to help us to find our way around the city during our stay.

The aircondition was noicy and did not work, too hot to sleep well, did not dare to sleep with an open window (1 floor). The beds were not comfortable, too hard mattress. But the rooms and the hotel is charming.
