Hotel Vip Berna - Lisbon

Just some hotel that i don't need to book again: if you need a bed to stay overnight and you get an offer, ok. group business. don't expect welcoming staff -- admittedly judging from a single stay... hint: lisbon has residencials that offer more for the price.

This hotel was really nice, the rooms were well decorated although were a little small but had everything you needed. They were air-conditioned, had a TV and an ok size bathroom. The hotel was close to a shopping centre with a supermarket and was close to bus and Metro stops. The one thing I can recommend is to catch the airport bus to the hotel for £3.50 (aerobus) which also gets you free access on all busses, trams (I suggest tram 28) and on the elevator to the viewing platform which was well worth a visit. It is best to catch the bus into the town about a 15 min ride. Overall a great place to stay.

Newly renovated modern hotel. A little far from central Lisbon but there are excellent cafes and restaurants nearby and subway is excellent and right around the corner. The price through Venire made it by far the best value on our trip. The Verbom on Verbom and the little cafe on the street in front of the hotel but a block away across from the bull ring. The bull ring itself is an architectural marvel.

Recommended for a short stay.

Stayed one night as previously two years ago, price level better, breakfast quality lower than previously. Reception person was really friendly and serviceminded. Location good from the airport and to the city center, bus connection ok

Excellent for overnight stay in lisbon, 10 minutes on bus from airport. nice location too. hotel is clean comfortable and excellent value for money.

Hotel was clean and comfortable and handy to transport including regional train station though relatively far from the centre of Lisbon. Staff were very helpful and many spoke good English. Note that breakfast and Wifi cost extra.

We are a couple of 50 years. We visited all the Portugal in 2 weeks from the Nord (Caminha) to the south (Lagos). The badest quality found in our vacation was at the VIP Berna. Not french language, very noisy and welcoming very cold. Otherwise, in not so touristic regions, Portugues people are very sympatic.

Hotel is simple, tourist facility but very, very convenient by buses (83, 44, 457) direct from airport (7-10 minute ride and just around corner from the stop). We arrived from a morning flight, yet staff made good effort to locate us in a room immediately and well prior to check-in time. Our room was small but clean, a bargain by Lisbon hotel prices. Across the main street (2-minute walk) is a large shopping mall and "food court," and a Metro (subway) station is only a block away, too. We only stayed one night (between flights), but we would stay there again if we needed to be in Lisbon longer. The hotel is not luxurious but offers a good room at a good price. BTW, this was the first time we used Venere (booked three hotels over 8 days in Portugal), and we had no problems upon any hotel arrival. The hotels were expecting us and provided exactly the accommodations that we were expecting. We definitely will book hotels through Venere again.

The room are noisy. The room door are very bad.D'ont isole the nois. The comunications are very easy.

The Hotel is located near the metro and bus stop. It was situated in a quiet zone, and the room clean.

My room was smaller and darker than I anticipated. Breakfast was not included in the price, which forced me to enjoy a wonderful cup coffee and pastry on a sunny street corner in the city. The hotel is within 1 1/2 blocks of a major city bus stop. The trip into the center of Lisbon takes about 25-30 minutes. If your goal is to discover this beautiful, vibrant city, I would recommend booking a hotel closer to the center, e.g., Bairro Alto or Baixa - Alfama.

Close to tram station for short trip into city, older hotel and restaurant in hotel was closed. Staff not very friendly or competent, tried to over-charge us twice.

Not so bad. Far from the city center, it's a good place where to stay during a business trip...

I have absolutely no complaints about the hotel! I am used to smaller more personal hotels: this was lacking at the Vip Berna, where I didn't even have to ask for the key(replaced by a card to open the door) but apart from that, the room and hotel were fine.

Business hotel (in general). First time at the hotel Berna. very nice. I recommend it.

Excellent. A bit far from center walking, but only 15min in bus. 15min from the airport also. Near the Praça de Touros, there is not so much around but taxis will get you every were for an average 5 euros ! the personnal was cool and helpfull. thay gave me a room to wait for a few hours for another really larger. it was clean, near the station, near the subway. we were ther 10 days and it was a good price (60 e/day) but maybe something more central for 3 days would be better (more expensive though). thanx

Thought the hotel near the city of Lisbon but it's quite far.

It was a very nice room, very clean and good air conditioned. The personal was friendly and correct. The relation between price and quality was excellent.

Room extremely narrow; toilet was smaller than the bed!when people in the upper floor were having the shower, it rained inside the toilet. anyway, rooms were very clean, breakfast ok, reception ok, people working very polite.

Very clean and spacious room, common spaces good, breakfast not so good, price very good. The employees were kind and competent.

The hotel was nice enough. We arrived early and they gave us a choice of taking a room with two twin beds right away or waiting until our king bed room became available later. We opted to wait but when we came back, they said there was only a twin room left anyway so that is what we got. We never got the telephone in the room to work to allow outside phone calls. The front desk simply told us to come downstairs and use the lobby phones, which are in nice little private booths. So, overall not high service but it was inexpensive and the room itself was nice. Also it is very close to the subway which is nice and convenient, and necessary if you plan to see the tourist sites in Lisbon. The hotel is a bit far from the main areas. We walked the first day to the main areas and it was nearly an hour walk, at a leisurely pace.

Forse conviene prendere una pensao in centro storico. Buona la colazione e visto che eravamo in macchina abbiamo apprezzato molto che il garage fosse free. Si raggiunge a piedi il ristorante Galeto, da non perdere.

This place was very close to the palace and theatre, and within walking distance of most attractions. i thought madrid was great and the hotel was value for money. not alot od english spoken by staff. rooms were fine.

I would come again.

Everything was very good, the employees are competent and helpful. Only complaint: the abuse of air conditioning in the breakfast room.

We could hear everything from the room next door or when someone was walking in the corridor. In the morning the maids maid a terrible noise - from 0700 in the morning. It seemed like they were trying to wake us all up. They banged the door really hard and shouted towards each other. But still - this was not an expencive hotel and the other facilities was totally exeptable.

We requested for non-smoking room but I guess all their rooms are smoking. It smelt terrible. We had to open windows and door to ventilate. Neighborhood is not very nice but close to subway. Service was just ok. Minimal help provided. Considering the price, it is still a good deal if you stay for a night or 2.

I consider the hotel a very good one! I'l take it again in my next trip to Lisbon.

Really good relation between price and quality. Maybe is a bit far from the center (but close to the Estufa Fría) if you don´t have a car but the underground station is at 300 meters from the hotel. And the city "Lisboa" is really wonderful.

Notes: 1. Hotel is well located. Metro very near. Garage available without overcost. 2. Breakfast is not included in the mentioned price. Cost 5.5€ One box 50 x50 x50 cm is able to deliver 12 kinds of beverages : coffee, tea, capuccino, milk... A computer prepars a mixture of powders and water. It is very usefull for cosmonauts. But I am only traveller and I find it awfull. I have thought of murder against the manufacturer of this box, Mr Nestlé !

Hotel tutto sommato buono,peccato che dove dormivamo noi c'erano di fuori dei ventilatori funzionanti 24h su 24h un po' fastidiosi(per via che non avevamo l'aria condizionata)

Good value for the price.

The rooms are extremely small, and rather plain. Convenient to the airport, but not within walking distances of any tourist attractions, old quarter of Lisbon, etc.

There are a few things I was unhappy about: -on the website they claim the hotel is "in the city centre", "5 minutes from downtown", "100m from the train station". The hotel is actually far from everything of interest as a tourist. If you want to get to the Praca do Commerco for instance you need to use two subway lines. If you want to go to the Oriente train station you need to use three different subway lines. If you need to go to the St. Apolonia train station, well, I don't know, there is no subway line there. So the website is a bit misleading that way. -the rooms are rather small -the hotel is quiet, unless you get the rooms next to the elevator. I got one of those and I slept rather badly for three nights (they said they couldn't change it :( ....) On the good side: -the price is not bad, -the rooms are clean Overall it's probably a good value (if you don't get the room by the elevator).

The Hotel is clean and comfortable enough, and even if it is not situated in the historical centre of Lisbona, this is not too far and it is quickly reachable by bus and metro.

Early eighties style hotel, average class. People friendly, everything clean. Nice to stay for some days to visit. Out of walking distance from downtown, but very close to a major bus stop (max 2 min waiting, service till after midnight). Breakfast is not included, costs an extra 5.50 Euro but still of good value.

This hotel although in Lisbon is in an outer suburb, away from the main tourist sites, although they can be reached by a 15 minute bus ride, certainly not a walk. The hotel was undertaking major renovations and we were given a very basic room which we suspected was as a result of us paying a cheaper price however this we later found was not the case as this was the price for everybody. Breakfast was not included in the price and not good quality on the occasion on which we tried. Staff clearly disinterested in their customers. The internet advertisement gave the impression that it was near the city centre. This was not the case,at all! Advertised as having a restaurant, but restaurant only available for groups in the evenings.

The statement of 5 minutes from city centre is probably with a race car! It is hard to walk around your bed. The breakfast buffet was good. VIP Berna is known by taxi drivers only as Berna (I was brought to the VIP hotel)

Our overall expereince was very good and we would stay at this hotel again. It was in a great location near a subway station and away from the city centre - approximately 2 miles. The room was very small. There was barely enough room at the foot of the bed to go around it to the closet and other side of the bed. The bathroom was roomy but lacked shelf space. We had to balance our toiletries a bit. The location of the air conditioner was ideal - mounted high on the wall above the foot of the bed. It took very little to cool the room very nicely. Breakfast was very good and reasonable. Very clean hotel overall. We witnessed hotel staff actually mopping the floor of the private hotel parting garage!

Really clean and cosy but small and relatively noisy rooms. great staff and Breakfast. Far from restaurants though (one subway station).
