Looking for a place in Lisbon, this is it. Staff are very helpful and the room is a good value. We had a room on the 7th floor overlooking the back. Nothing to look at but it was quiet. It's about a 20 minute walk to the old town/happening part of town or you can take the metro which is a few blocks away. Breakfast includes both hot(eggs) and cold choices. When we return, we will stay there again.

Nice room - clean, spacious, well-maintained. Overall, the hotel was very good for the price. Night porter when we arrived was a bit surly, but not a bad chap, I think. Two small gripes: 1. it was difficult to get a bath plug out of them - apparently they're worried people will let the bath overflow; 2. the breakfast fruit salad was tinned - pity when there's so much fresh fruit around.

At first I was unsure about the hotel location, but that was before I realised how spread out Lisbon is and that no single hotel can be near everything! As it is, the hotel is well placed for the Metro, buses etc and only 15 minutes from the airport. The staff were exceptional - well informed and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the beds were very comfortable.

Athough we had our doubts, the hotel interiors and the rooms look really like a smaller 4-stars hotel. Competent reception... they claimed all hotel was non-smoking, though the room we've got smelled, but they changed it immediately to another room of same size that was smell-free. The room interior, including bathroom, were quite spacy and recently renovated. All worked well. The hotel is in a relatively quiet residential area, but not many services near by... however it's strategically located between the airport and the downtown, which worked well for us. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel. Breakfast was included in the price and it was quite reasonable.

The rooms were really big and got ahead of everything we expected. Nice dark wooden furniture, everything clean. Wooden floor (no carpet!) Only thing we were not so satisfied with was the breakfast: Breakfast was supposed to be until 10.30 - at 10.00 they did not do any re-fill - no eggs anymore, only a few fruits left...

Quiet well maintained property on a moderate slope within four blocks of the nearest Metro station. Easy walk to spacious Edward VII Park and the Gulbenkian Museum. Two reliable elevators and about ten rooms per floor. Furnishings feature much highly polished wood and concealed cooking/sink area. Sky-TV is the only English language channel. Corridor lights triggered by motion. Rooms at front have good views of a treed street with two traffic lanes separated by a central parking strip and lined by tile-decorated facades of six story buildings, including a pension and a restaurant with subdued neon lights. Other restaurants and a food court around the corner. Small supermarket adjacent the food court, post office within 50 yards. Rather good breakfast buffet, though the thin orange juice, diced Vienna sausages, slightly powdery scrambled eggs and limp bacon with small pieces of gristle may not be to everyone's taste. Excellent Portuguese rolls, butter and preserves. I particularly recommend the breakfast pastry and cake (not my usual morning fare) as well as the slab of apricot preserve. Decent fresh fruit cocktail and yogurt. Free and usually accessible computer terminal with Internet connection in the lobby. Very helpful English-speaking desk staff. In summary, a restful, comfortable and not inconvenient home from home.

The staff was very attentive, multilingual, and especially helpful in giving directions for a pleasant and safe visit. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Do not book without the breakfast. We met many guests, of all ages, at the hotel and all were very complimentary. The location of the hotel is perfect. An easy 10-minute bus ride (not the shuttle) from the airport to Picoas, and then walk 3 blocks. Save your bus ticket, it is good for the next 24 hours. Picoas provides easy access to both busses and the metro to go anywhere you want in minutes.

The staff are very helpful; hotel is in an excellent neighborhood; a large grocery store (pingo doce) is just around the corner; post office in the next block, subway about 2 blocks, short walk to M. do Pombal; short walk to Gulbenkian museum (past el corte ingles shopping center). Included breakfast was very good. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Breakfast served in our room was very mediocre - plus we had to call for cups and knives. Otherwise, very good, clean hotel with extremely spacious rooms although perhaps a bit impersonal! Good quiet location with easy access to taxis.

Good value overall. Location was well out of the centre but was quiet. Several issues with room on arrival (bidet broken, lights not working, hairdryer broken) but these were promptly fixed. Breakfast was basic.

Hotel was in a very convenient location near the subway and walking distance to the square. The rooms were very spacious, and even had a little kitchennete area, but the walls were "very very thin" and we could hear "everything" even talking, water gushing etc. (very frustrating at 2:00 a.m.). For the breakfast which was supposed to be served till 10:30 a.m., we were very disappointed because if you go even a little past 10:00 a.m. they do not replenish the hot stuff (bacon, scrambled eggs and sausage). There was an amazing grocery store right down the road where you could buy broiled chicken and salad and water bottles, etc. - very affordable. We found the hotel pricey after talking to several other people who were staying in other hotels in the area, they had paid much lower for their rooms. We would definitely shop around the next time. Watch out for the pick pockets!

Staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English real well. They will give you good advice, for example as to the right fado restaurants to go to. Breakfast is included in the price, tasty and extensive. Rooms are clean, spacious and quiet. Around the corner there’s a big supermarket and there are plenty of shops in the neighbourhood. You’ll also find pubs and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, but most tourists will prefer going down to the centre. A walk to the centre is too far, but subway station Picoas is around the corner and the subway will bring you to the centre in a couple of minutes (with a transfer at Marques de Pombal). The taxi will take you from the hotel to the centre for only 6 euros. On top of subway station Picoas is the bus stop of the aerobus to the airport. The hotel is very recommendable. And Lisbon? It will embrace you forever………

A friend and I spent a month on vacation in Portugal and Spain this was our favorite place. The front desk was very helpful and the breakfast was a full breakfast even with fresh fruit. it was located about a 20-30 minutue walk from the area where most tourists stay but easy to get anywhere and if you did not want to walk the Metro was only about 2 blocks away. It was nice because it felt like you were living with the locals.

Hotel was highly recommended by other users and lived up to its reputation. Easy to find and no Taxi required as buses cheap and frequent.Proximity to Metro station also a major plus. Staff were helpful and fluent in English. Room exellent with views over the town to the river. Breakfast was again excellent with plenty of choice but get there early to avoid queuing for a table. Had one meal in the restaurant which was again very good with plenty of choice and good quantities for the hungry. Plenty of see in Lisbon but take walking shoes as most best seen on foot although trams, buses, Metro and funicular railways were a good cheap way of getting around. Buy a travel card at the airport from the post office which is upstairs. This will give you unlimited travel on Metro, bus, tram and funicular railway for the duration of your stay but does not include the 99 Aero bus which runs from the airport to centre although there are plenty of local buses which take the same route. Just ask the drivers or check the time table at the bus stop. As for Lisbon. Bit tatty in places and does need a bit of money spending on the buildings. We were advised to hang on to hand bags etc although saw no evidence of this. Lots of guys selling dodgy sun glasses in the main squares, lots of people begging and selling other dodgy substances. Take care in the resaurants. They charge for everything, even butter and bread. Will usually offer you some cheese, plate of prawns or pate before the meal. Just tell them you don't want it or it will appear on your bill. If you eat it you pay for it! All things considered a great city and friendly people. Need about 3 full days to do it justice.Would go again and certainly to the same hotel. Thanks to Venere for sorting it.
