What was absolutely unacceptable was to propose a room with an ugly smell of toilet. Room 410. We have opened the window, but we were in the horrible noise of a generator just downstairs. All through the night. After 1 nights we asked to change room. The next night we changed. In that new room it was ok. For two nights. They have better not to annonced a breakfeast included: koffie, juice (water with chimical powder and sugar)were ugly!!! It's a pity to propose a room that should not be let.

Our room was an 'internal' one, next to the cleaners room and the windows opened onto the spaces where air conditioners vented - so there was a lot of background noise. my only complaint is that the room cleaning was very late in the day -after 3pm. I know that it is a fact of life in a big hotel but it did make it inconvenient for coming back to the room for a siesta before going out again in the evening. staff were excellent and very helpful, especially for those of us with no Portuguese language.

Breakfeast is really bad. No view from the window of the room but room brand new and very spacious. Close from the famous nice little tramway, good to make pictures. very close from Rossio center square, metro and Shuttle bus for airport.

The hotel is in a great location for travel about the historic town center on foot, tram, metro and bus. The hotel is clean, but "shappy" - peeling wallpaper and not the best carpeting. The breakfast is nice, tasty and coffee good. If you don't spend much time in the room and want to explore downtown Lisbon, this hotel is a good value. If you're looking for more luxury, it would be better to choose another hotel.

Excellent location. Right in center. 100m to metro and 200m to train station to Sintra. Modern deco and very clean. Free wi-fi. Surprised it's only 2 stars. Just 2 issues; one is about noise outside. Not big problem as it's not on main street. One is no hangers for clothes, nor closet, at all.

For 2 girls who wanted to have fun in Lisboa, it was a great hotel ; we didn't need space or luxious room but we need cheap price and to be downtown, so it was a great ! Carreful : a part of the hotel is an old one and the other is just new, so it explain the difference of prices for the room.

The room was quite noisy, due to the air conditioning system belonging to the next building. The public areas have been recently renovated and are fine, while the rooms are very basic and old. Good balance between cheapness and overall quality. The location is highly strategic, midway between Rossio and Bairro Alto.

The room was furnished with old stuff: old bed very "noisy" and not comfortable. The worst think of this room (219) was the smell: it was stinking of close air... for thet price should improve the quality. very good position in the city.

The reviews said it was noisy and it was. Friday and Saturday nights were really bad but Sunday and Monday were not bad. If it had been hot so the ac was on it may have been better. Even with the noise we received what we thought we would an inexpensive room without much space but clean and well located.

In the room on the highest floor was extremely noisy because the elevator`s motor was working right near! So First night was awful! Fortunately we changed the room on the next day . Attention: Don`t leave you car near the hotel! – it costs 60 euro tomorrow :-)

The cheapest accommodations we could find. The location is excellent and the staff are helpful, continental breakfast included in the price nice reception area. The rooms are drab and very old. If your room is large with a nice bathroom do not switch, you have the royal suite.

This hotel rated low of my hotels on this trip. On the good side, the room was clean, everything worked, the included breakfast was good, and the staff very cordial. On the negative side, the halls are depressing, the bathroom was extremely small, the noisy garbage truck came through the street in the middle of the night, and the staff gave me totally wrong information for the Metro stop for the bus station.

Comfortable hotel, inexpensive, great location. A short walk to the Baixa (downtown) area, a short walk (or cog train) up to the Barrio Alto neighborhood. The hotel is across the street from the the Hard Rock Cafe. Breakfast was good. Will definitely stay again when in Lisbon.

They have started a mega restoration of the building and now they have to make more money by charging customers the breakfast that according to venere.com voucher was included. Their new reception and restaurant gives you a very good - yet a little "kitsch" - impression, but as soon as you enter the elevator (which by the way doesn't have the internal door: you see the the floors going up and down when you're in and with bulky luggage it can be really dangerous) you see what this hotel is really made of. The rooms are very spacious but with old squeaky falling-into-pieces furniture. Breakfast is awful and costs a lot, you'd rather go to a bar and eat delicious local pastry. With the exception of two or three, personnel is unprepared and not welcoming at all, I was even given wrong tourism information and transportation directions. As said before, my venere.com voucher had "breakfast included" but the director od the property made me pay for it in a very unpolite way; according to him, at the moment of the reservation I had clicked on "twin room only", but to me this sentence doesn't say "breakfast not included" and I don't take the memory of this "click" with me, all I have when I travel is my printed voucher. Maybe it's a communication problem between venere.com and the property, but I wasn't happy at all by the way I was treated. The location is good but a little dangerous (we had a minor problem one evening) and nearby there's a strip club. And last but not least: although the description said wi-fi connection was available, there was nothing. Not recommended at all.

Well, cant really complain about the location - very close to the metro station and right where the elevator gloria starts. Other than that, I found the place pretty inconsistent. There was an extra bad stacked against the wall, I wanted a room for just myself and I got two disjointed single beds, the restroom was uninviting, and the view out of the window was not pleasant either. Some of these can be possibly attributed to the renovation work going on, and the price was excellent considering the location, but thats the only attractive thing about this hotel.

I understand that this hotel is in the middle of refurbishment, however I found the room very depressing and dark. I hated being in there. The room also smelled of wet dog. The corridor was also dark and had exposed electrical fittings which added to the general gloom. The bright marble reception betrays the rest of this hotel.

Rooms are really old and musty and smell of old wood but clean...bathrooms are also clean...they service your room every day if u want..the basic breakfast is nice and filling with really hard-working elderly ladies serving u...its right next to an elevator tram line which takes u upto a point where u get a wonderful view of lisbon...there's a shady peep show joint right opposite...but its located right in the heart of the old city with Hard Rock Cafe just 100 metres away and the nearest metro station a mere 2 mins walk...all in all, a satisfactory experience.

The location is perfect for a fast connection to public transportation (the beautiful Restauradores square is two minutes on foot, with metro and bus). There are no other reason to choice it. Breakfast is humble. Rooms quite poor but clean Employees looked to me quite...annoyed by our staying there...typical portuges behavior i guess. For the same price you can find better location But...Lisbona is really really beatiful!

The Hotel is simple but the accomodations are good and the breakfast is better than others similars hotels that I've been in Lisbon. The location is excellent with an easy walking everithing in downtown Lisbon. The staff is competente but some of them seem not like give tourist informations. A simple question like how much is a bus ticket ? they answer I' don't Know and ignore you completely.Usually portugueses hotel employees are'nt so friendly. In general my stay in Suiço Atlântico was good and I'll be back again next time.

We chose this because the Time Out Lisbon guide claimed it was "quiet", despite the nearby area being "noisy and seedy", and requested a quiet room when we booked. However, our first night was spent in a first-floor room next to the funicular (Elevador da Gloria), which screeched its way down its rails until midnight, and from 06:30. Our window didn't close properly, so little sleep was had. Also, the room was so small that we could barely open the wardrobe next to the bed, and the whole thing was a bit grotty. When we asked the next day, the staff were very helpful, telling us to pack up our cases and they'd move them for us during the day, which they did. The new room was the furthest from the funicular, at the back, and two floors up ... but still noisy, with air-con pipes outside the window all night, noisy guests nearby and very thin walls :-( So after that we moved to the 3-star Lisbon Tejo (which I can't find on this site), on the advice of the Tourist Office -- €30/night more but well worth it, and a lovely place. Also, the Internet access wasn't working, and the TV in the lounge showed a pink image (only red and blue beams working, I think). We didn't try the breakfast. Oh and, as well as the funicular, there's a sex shop / strip club just round the corner! So, overall, if you're looking for something cheap with helpful service, and are a heavy sleeper (or plan to be out very late anyway :-), then it's worth a look given the price. Otherwise, find somewhere more comfy, I'd say.

This is an exceptional value hotel in a brilliant location in a great city. It is not the last word in luxury, but the rooms are clean, spacious and serviced daily. The breakfast is average. There is wireless internet access that needs to be paid for, but it worked perfectly in the room. The only downside is the slightly seedy sidestreet on one side of the hotel and the tram on the other that runs from 7am to midnight, but the latter is very handy for the Bario Alto. The hotel is perfectly positioned for the metro, buses and trams. You will not find a better value better positioned hotel in the heart of Lisbon.

I've been in there for 5 days with my girlfriend. Initially we had booked just for 2 nights, but after the first day we booked for 3 more nights. It has been a perfect hotel, the only problem is that 54 euro a night is an expensive price compared to the other facilities that Portugal has to offer. In the same street we spent the last 2 days for 45 euro in a Residecial/Pensao. Anyway if you want to feel sure of having a place where to relax at your arrive Hotel Suico Atlantico an excellent choose.

The hotel has a prime location near Restauradores metro station and an aerobus stop. However, it is quite shabby and noisy. Our room was next to one of the fabulous old elevators, which are quite amazing and fun to ride, but make one hell of a racket when trying to sleep. The decor is dark and needs updating, the beds are not particularly comfy, and there is a large breakfast buffet and frankly what do you expect for €54 for a twin room in the centre of town.

The hotel is very well located close to all kinds of transportation and one block from Ada. das Libertades. Funicular Da Gloria takes you to Barrio Alto in a few minutes. The hotel is a good value for the price and the breakfast is plenty. I enjoy the only day I stayed in, but I did not like the way they charge for phone calls, by pulsation, so you do not know exactly the amount of minutes of your call and if you do not connect the first time, the still charge by pulsation. So I do not think I will make a call if I would stay there next time. One reception employee needs more customer relations, he was unfriendly and cold when I asked questions about check out time and transportation to go to the train station. The other one was nice and the breakfast staff was very nice.

First impression of personnel at reception was quite unpolite. However that was improved later on. Clean rooms, although quite small abd bit noisy at early hours. Loacation absolutely great, train station near by and short walking to restaurant areas, shops etc. Breakwast was decent for the price - bread, ham, cheese, juice and coffe/tea. Hotel bar was interesting experience, long drinks on the list recommended; rarely get ful value for the money... I would recommend this hotel to anyone how is not too picky about accomodation rather location and prices. And I most lighthly would stay there again with my friends :)

Fortunately, our room was not near La Gloria elevator, therefore, we didn't hear the noise. The welcoming was just polite, but the service was very good. Location was really good since it is very close to buses, subway and impotant squares (Restauradores, Rossio, etc). I would recommend it.

Clean rooms, good hot shower, perfect loacation, not particularly fancy but what would you expect at this price?! Would definitely stay here again.

It is located in the city center and near a metro station. Location is great except a sex shop on the way up to the hotel. Breakfast was so nice in comparison to price ( I loved the coffe and sweet bread !) And also room and bathroom was very clean. But due to cleaning trucks,it is quite noisy in the middle of the night. So I woke up a couple of times everynight.

Breakfast was included but was very poor! But we were not disappointed because the price of our room was so cheap! The staff at the breakfast room was very nice! The location of the hotel couldn't be better!! The beds were extremly hard to sleep in!!

The staff was not particularly friendly. The mattress was very soft, offering no back support at all. Otherwise, my stay there was brief, the location was excellent, breakfast was adequate, and the price was right for me.

In Portugal for two weeks and this was our first accommodation out of seven. For the money, this was excellent! Rooms are somewhat shabby, but clean. Location is excellent. Had some noise in the mornings from construction, but didn't start until 7 or so. Right on the funicular. Pleasantly surprised by the variety of people staying there - all ages and types it seemed. Actually loved the big double windows that we could open and look out over the street and buildings.

This hotel has a great location within walking distance to most sights and only a block from the train to Sintra. The rooms are dull and basic but clean enough. My biggest complaint would be the noise level. You can hear everything going on in neighboring rooms and in the hallway. We were on the 4th floor so we didn't hear the tram but the neighbors on a Saturday night were enough to prevent me from sleeping.

The hotel is excellent value for its position - so close to the station, metro, buses and elevator - and not too far to walk down to the main square. The rooms are clean and adequate and the beds are surprisingly comfortable; the breakfast is adequate but a little dreary; the public rooms are spacious. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for a convenient and inexpensive stay in Lisbon and wants easy access on foot or by public transport to art galleries, museums and good food.

Walls are rather thin, but we had problems with other people in the hotel during only one of our 5 nights... The location is perfect, rooms are good. A very good choice, I think

On arriving we were met by a very friendly receptionist however when he wwent off duty his replacement was more like the devil...very rude, unhelpful and seemed bitter and resentful at having to do his job. That made us feel uneast and unwelcome. The hotel sort of reminds me of an old hospital or nursing home...the corridors have that weird particular smell... Rooms are standard...For 49 euro a night (including breakfast- which we didn't make)you get what you pay for. The rooms were a bit worn...but not dirty. Very minimal and dated but fresh clean sheets and clean bathroom. There was a chain on our door which was a little scary...needless to say we used it. We stayed there for a weekend of sightseeing so only used the room to sleep and shower...It served that purpose well. It is one of the best you will get for 50 euro. Location is fantastic - 5 minute walk up hill to barrio alto. Very handy. I would stay there again if on 50 euro budget but would try to save a bit extra to afford the next rank of hotel. Suitable for young people, friends travelling. Not very romantic for couples...

Suiço Atlântico has realy suprised me. Competent staff & service, clean & comfortable rooms, excelent location and yes, they do have an elevator and heating system. Forniture and bathroom are a bit out of date but everything works perfectly and in my opnion is a kind of charming. I would definitively stay there again if on a budget trip.

This was an excellent choice;only a very short walk from the Restauradores bus stop, and very convenient for visiting Lisbon on foot. I'd been worried by the cheapness, but the room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast (included) was fine, and the staff were professional and friendly. Take the tram uphill just outside the hotel and eat at the Trindade brewery restaurant. As an introduction to the city,I would recommend the walking tour which starts daily on the Rossio square only a few minutes from the hotel. Also, don't miss a ride into the Alfama on the 28 tram - beats Disneyland, anyday! All in all, highly recommended.

My second stay at this hotel. It is well located near the centre of Lisbon. Good value for money. Lack of internet access and printing is a pain in this day and age. My visit was over Xmas and new year and internet cafes were either closed or had no printing facilities. A real inconvenience. One member of staff was very helpful and friendly the others were not and need to have a better more helpful attitude. It lets down what is otherwise a good cheap hotel.

Now I stayed in the 4th floor and the room was much more better than the one in the 1st floor. In the 4th floor you don´t hear the Elevador da Glória, but in the 1st floor you surely know when the first Elevador starts early (very early...) in the morning.

The hotel is very simple but clean. It's enough for sleeping and spending the all day outside. The breakfast is also very simple and not varied, the minimum to have something in the stomach and begin the day. In the room there are old windows which let the wind go inside.

Excellent location very short walk to the main square and restaurants. Metro station right outside. Easy to get to from the airport, airport bus stops right outside. Breakfast is a typical lite european affair don't expect bacon and eggs. Staff were helpful with tourist info. Beds were a little creaky but no major problem. Overall I would definately use again!!

I liked the location (very near the center), our room was rather quiet, the breakfast was good enough and there were only two drawbacks. Firstly, the day we came the elevator was broken and our room was on the 4th floor and secondly, someone said in the comments it was the Avenida de Liberdade bus stop but in reality Restauradores stop is much closer and it's matters when you have heavy luggage.
