If you just want a clean room at a good price in a reasonably safe area, the hotel italia is ideal.

I enjoyed very much my stay in "Residential Italia". It is 5 minutes walk far from the nearest metro station and other interesting places. Room was clean and comfortable. Every staff member was very kind. In front of the hotel there is a small supermarket too. I would recommend it to all my friends.

I recommend this hotel. I have stayed many other hotels at this price range in Europe and found this hotel worth staying again. The room is clean and has simple but enough facilities. And, what's more, the stuff are excellent. They can speak English, which seems to be a big advantage for travelers outside Europe, and are very kind. They kindly researved a fado house, recommended a good restaurant, and call a tax. If there is any disadvantage of this hotel, it might be access to the center of the city. it takes 10 min to the nearest metro station and 3-4 stations to the center of the city. I don't think it's a big problem but there are many other hotels at the center of the city at this price range. However, as a conclusion, I will stay this hotel again if I have a chance to visit Lisbon again. Thanks.

The hotel was very nice. My room was very clean and comfortable, although a little bit small. Staff was very competent and kind. They let me take the room before the check-in time, and they kept my suitcases for some hours after my check-out, and called a taxi for no additional price. Breakfast was ok. The only thing that I would add to the included facilities would be wireless internet access. The relation between price/quality was excelent.

During our stay an Italian school-group ("Nomen est omen.")stayed also in the hotel. They terrorized with noisy behaviour all the others guests - and the employees didn't do anything against them. From this point of view we can't recommend the hotel at all - the rest was okay.

Simple furnished, but clean and quiet, appropriate price. Easy downtown accessability - 10 minutes to the Metro-station.

the hotel is close to bus and metro stops, airport shuttle and regular busses stop at the bus stop av. republica which is the nearest bus stop to the hotel. Just about 10 min walk to the station. very calm area. hotel was clean, breakfast was ok. the room was just a bit loud because of the people walking on the upper floor all the time. the staff was friendly. I would not hesitate to go there again, very good value for the price.

Clean small rooms, nice staff, breakfast was poor and the same every day, 8 minute walk to the metro, several nice restaurants in the area. We found it too far away from the action of downtown but it was quiet.

Room is clean and ok, but is nothing special. The mattress was really hard. Aircondition worked fine. Quiet neighbourhood. Breakfast was nothing special, very little to choose from. Orange juice is just colored water, just tea or coffee of other drinks. The staff seemed uninspired. Bus or subway to downtown. Short walk to bus, about 10 minutes to downtown. About 10 minutes walk to subway, in the middle of 2 stops.

It is almost a capsule hotel. The whole place is not bigger than 12 sqm, including bathroom and closet. There is not even place to put down your bags. Very dark, no street windows, paper walls, very noisy from the neighbours. The location is fair, 10 min. walk from the closest underground station and four station from the heart of Lisbon. The staff is extremely helpful. It is pricey compare with quality.

I stayed at this hotel while in Lisbon for a conference. In my opinion it's great for that purpose - if you're intending to spend more time at the hotel itself it might not be quite what you're after, but for a place to sleep and to work it's good. The staff, if maybe not super-friendly, are definitely really professional and efficient. They speak very good English and gave me great transport info on request, and also fixed the toilet in my room (which wouldn't flush) straight after I reported the problem. The hotel is close to the stop for the airport bus (Avenida da Republica) and to the metro (Campo Pequeno), so it's very easy to get into the centre of Lisbon, and to the university. As a female single traveller I felt completely comfortable at this hotel. Be aware that if you arrive on Sunday the cafes in the hotel vicinity are all closed, but fortunately there's a Lidl right across from the hotel ;-).

it is a very good hotel, considered its collocation (just 8 minutes walking to get metropolitana station and in 5 minutes you get city centre) and considered that the price for a double room with the breakfast(adequate) included is excellent.staff of the hotel is very kind and available to help you for each exigence. i suggest it ABSOLUTELY.Lisboa is wonderful!

Our room was small, but very clean, there was no kettle (this seems to be the case in most Portuguese Hotels) but the receptionist lady always provided us with a pot of boiling hot water for a hot drink. The room (we stayed in a double room) was quiet and simple, everything is in good working order. Good location. Continental breakfast (ham, cheese, jam, bread, rolls, tea, coffee, juice) all fresh and ok.

Good hotel at a very good price. A bit out of the way (if you're counting on taking the metro, be sure to check what time the last train runs), but not bad. The walls are quite thin, so be ready to hear conversations from adjacent rooms.
Young couple
United Kingdom, Nov 2007
Great hotel. Nice and quiet and they met our request for a top floor balcony. Room was clean and roomy. If I was being hyper-critical I'd say that the room could have done with more "warmth": a few pictures on the walls; perhaps a rug for the cold floor. And, although the bathroom was large enough to accomodate a bath, strangely there wasn't one. Would've been nice to soak after climbing those hills. The location won't suit everyone but the public transport links were excellent, and the local pastelarias were welcoming and the food on a par with everywhere else we went in Lisbon (and beyond). One final point: the breakfast isn't so great. Go elsewhere for your morning coffee! Oh, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel rooms are very modern and clean. We even had a small balcony to sit on. It takes not too long to get to the city center. The bus stops are not far away and the metro is also accessible within some minutes. It is very convenient to reach from the airport. The staff could have been friendlier as they did not really answer questions (or at least say "good morning"). Breakfast is reasonable for Portuguese standards but do not expect anything special.

Week-end from the 10 to 12nd of March. We booked this hotel for the cheap price. It is easy to find the hotel, 10 minutes from the airport by bus. Firstly I would like to thank people working on a reception, who patiently explained to me everything and answered dozens of my questions :) Secondly, I would say, that location is quite nice, not the main center, but in correspondence to the price it is perfect, lots of buses, subway is near as well as one of the largest shopping center. Thirdly, the only thing i may point out is an uncomfortable douche - all water was on the floor... Best regards and enjoy Portugal =)

Rapporto qualità-prezzo eccellente.

During the first night I had troubles with the room because some nonpleasant smell coming out of the airconditioning system. Nevertheless the employees changed the room and everything went OK afterwards. The room was clean yet the only window, and the room itself, were a bit too small to be enjoyed withtout airconditioning. The hotel's neighborhood is fine. There are plenty coffeeshops and good restaurants offering good meals at reasonable prices. Regarding the breakfast at the hotel I would rate it as acceptable.

In generell the hotel was the way it was offered in the internet. Price was like mentioned and the e-mail from the hotel with comments how to find it in the city was very helpful. We stayed almost a week and we had luck to get one of the view rooms with balcony. It was to the back side. Unfortunately there where no chairs for the balcony. The rooms where very clean. In the first night we mentioned that you could hear every step from above us. The rooms have no carpet and that may be the reason for the noise. Nearby a new house was build (May 2006 started) and after 8:00 o'clock there was no possibility to sleep any longer. The breakfast is very simple. Every day the same kind of cheese, ham and jam. No chance of variety. Coffee (unfortunately Nescafe made) was not our taste. All in all it is not a bad place but for a longer stay I would wish a better standard for a quiet room and a better breakfast.

The only negative point is, that you hear noises inside very loud (for example, when other guests comming home, jumping(?) in their rooms.
