Very happy over-all with our stay. Minor quibbles such as Juice for breakfast being squash and rooms being 'made up' very late in day ..... but cant fault cleanlensess and service. Big thumbs up for Sunday staff in restaurant who set us up watching Chelsea match on TV and kept the Super Bocks flowing!Thank you all.

An excellent hotel. The location is superb, within walking distance of lots of attractions and public transport. Rooms are very clean, comfortable and we had maid service daily. The staff with the exception of one were more than helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of hot and cold food and all areas were exceptionally clean. We had dinner there on one evening and were very pleased with both the service and food quality. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is a great value. It is neat, clean, and respectably appointed with firm beds and relatively fast free wifi. The breakfast, served in the hotel restaurant, is ample if repetitive from day to day, and other meals in the restaurant are tasty and reasonable. The location is close to the best parts of Lisbon as well as the Metro, tram and train. If you stay here, however, bring your own shampoo and lotion. The hotel provides only soap and shower gel.

Location is everything that this hotel has.Staff Carlos & Liouse excellent in what every traveller needs, smile, greets you & makes you feel that anything you require they are there to help with that smile. Make sure you have the address of location and local squares for directions or instructions for taxi. Taxi fare to airport €12. Airport Bus very reasonable but make sure you know how to get to hotel . Streets are cobbled and tiled. Front of hotel is on the street and has lots of activity with noise! Location Location Location has it all. I will go back again to Lisbon & the Florescente DV. because we had a great time and enjoyed all the city has to offer. Enjoy your trip.

This hotel is located on a pedestrian street, so it can be difficult to find if you are driving and using a GPS. We were 3 adults traveling (family group) and had a spacious room with a separate office type room which could sleep 2 more people. Others said their rooms were quite small, but that was not our experience. Large bathroom as well. There is on street parking nearby, but it can be very tight and difficult. No parking lot. The street is filled with restaruants and comes alive in the evening when workesr try to get your business. Very convenient to the main parts of Lisbon.

Values don't get much better than this. In the height of tourist season, I paid merely 55 euros for a hotel in the heart of town, right where you want to be in Lisbon centro (located right on the so-called "eating street" near Rossio; some places better than others, certainly, and most only give a glimpse of the terrific food Lisbon can present). To boot, they have free wi-fi throughout the hotel (none of this antiquated "come to lobby for wi-fi" nonsense), AND an amazingly good breakfast spread for a hotel in this price range, including good hot foods. Plus, service was good with very nice and helpful staff. That said, keep your expectations under control. There has to be some compromise at that price level. If you need more luxury and space, pay more and go someplace else. The rooms are a bit cramped and here and there they could use some refurbishing. The bathroom is noisy from water sounds when you or someone else uses it. The only real irritation to me for me was the elevator--just one, small (sometimes filled with luggage toting tourists), and slow as molasses for a rather large building. The lounge area is attractive and an outdoor restaurant is owned by the hotel. Special plaudits to the enlightened wi-fi policy. They not only give you a free voucher for a laptop, but another free one for your phone.

Lovely hotel, wonderful staff, nice breakfast included and comfortable room close to buses, trams, metro, trains. The room was a mini-suite...an extra room with a daybed. Located in the restaurant area the street is a busy one so there was some noise but you can request a quieter room if that's an issue...opted for a "room with a view" facing the street and enjoyed it. The front desk staff was so very kind and generous with their time and directions to help us get around the city.

Excellent situation walking distances, elevadores, trams and all you need, helpful and welcoming staff, complete services, restaurant, bar boutique, wi-fi, and if you feel like trying a few words or more in portuguese you will find a friendly ear and might learn a few more words. At the reception, we even had a very interesting conversation concerning fado and very special recommendations according to our specific requirements. Thank you for helping us getting aquainted with wonderful, lively yet peaceful Lisboa.

My husband and I really enjoyed the Residêncial Florescente. One of our requirements is air-conditioning after spending one very hot stay one summer in a hotel without air-conditioning--but for this trip we didn't need the cooling as it was very pleasant temperatures outside at night. There are lovely windows that open up in both the sleeping room and the bathroom. The hotel was perfectly located for visiting Lisbon. The aerobus stop was only a five minute walk to the hotel. Our room was a bit noisy as it faced the street where all the restaurants were. A room not facing the street would have been quieter. By midnight it did calm down outside, so it didn't much affect our being able to sleep. The hotel is nonsmoking, but I did smell smoke. I think it was from all the outside diners on the street and our windows being open. However, in the morning we did smell some smoke in the hallways so though the hotel is nonsmoking, people broke the rule and smoked anyway. The hotel room was really big--both the sleeping area and bathroom. There was plenty of room for both my husband and I to move about. We would have preferred a shower that was permanently attached to the wall. We both found it easier to bathe in the tub rather than try to get the shower head to stay put on the holder on the wall. There was no shower curtain, so I imagine the water would have ended up on the floor anyway. We enjoyed breakfast in the attractive breakfast room each morning. There are no coffee or tea making facilities in the room itself which my husband missed being able to utilize upon awakening in our room. Over all, we were both very pleased with the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I could not be happier having found this residence. I am only sorry for not eating dinner here every evening of my four night stay. My friends wanted to explore others; none came close to the quality, presentation and price to what the Florecente offered. This was my first stay in Lisbon, having traveled through on my way to Madeira, Faro and Viana do Castelo a number of times without staying over. I am looking forward to returning to this residence soon, Lisbon has so much to offer. While the room was small, it had everything I needed at great value. It was located at the back (not much of a view) making it possible to sleep with the balcony door open all night. The only surprise was the daily change of towels even though I was careful to leave them neatly on the rods. Even 5 star hotels now encourage people to use their towels for more than one day, which I am certainly used to in my home as part of living "greener".

This hotel is very central and fantastic value. Although the rooms are small they are spotlessly clean and the hotel is well maintained. The quality of the breakfast (included in the price)was good. We are overall satisfied with our stay. The view and the location was great, but from the website we got the impression that a superior room would be larger. It turned out that there were no large superior double room without having the beds separated. There was very low pressure in the shower. Maybe it was due to the room being on the sixth floor. The breakfast was nice with both warm and cold food, but would be even nicer with some vegetables.

Almost all very good : We had a large, very clean and satisfactory, triple room .ONLY issue not very positive was breakfast : a lot of salt dishes, but few sweet dishes. But, I repeat, this is only issue I didn't agree. Reassuming : I strongly suggest this hotel, it's a good accomodation. Rua Portas de Santo Antao is a beautiful street, and Lisboa is beautiful. Stay at the hotel was overall positive. Close to restaurants and public transportation. Lots of stores, markets, etc., close by. Breakfast included with stay was excellent. Cleaning and restaurant staff were exceptional. Desk staff were helpful most of the time. Wi-fi only available in common area including inside restaurant and worked fine. A/C in rooms was a big plus during very hot days in Lisbon. Laundry service was no longer available.

Location could not have been better; close to AeroBus stop, Metro, Rossio train station, Tourist info, tremendous variety of restaurants in the neighborhood. Adjoining restaurant and staff was excellent. One of the better meals we had. Breakfasts were very good. Our view wasn't the best but the compromise was it was very quiet, clean, airy, and bright. (The walk down the cobblestones from the bus stops was not even difficult.) Easy walk to Praca do Comercio for other transports. Watch our for pick-pockets on crowded trams.

We liked this hotel very much. We stayed here in the end of March till the beginning of April. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the windows were looking on the pedestrian street. I knew that It could be noisy. So it was but we always have deep sleep , so it wasn´t a problem for us at all. In case you won’t have this kind of room – take another rooms (in the back). The breakfast was perfect for us (cheese, fried eggs, cereals and so on). The staff was very polite. And the greatest thing about this hotel is the location! I absolutely recommend you this hotel! The room was beautifully decorated, with free wi-fi, cable flat screen tv, bathroom was well-equipped with a nice shower and full bath. This Hotel is very nice. We had a back room, were not bothered by street noise though a persistent dog barking was quite annoying (most of the night for 2 nights; obviously did not belong to the hotel). Very clean. Rooms a bit small, but great value for what you pay. You do not get everything ina hote: you decide: this has a) location (wonderful, on a walking street, do not think you will drive to the door or get a cab out font; b) clean; c) friendly and helpful staff understaing of English; d) good breakfast (had just converted to a "all you want buffet" style).

All the staff were welcoming, helpful, courteous and considerate. We had a wonderful stay in the hotel. The noise from wagons in the night outside our room was a little disturbing and the hot water took a long time to come through as well as being underpowered (The shower was not very good) but we used the bath - which took 10 minutes to run sufficient water;but the hotel itself could not have been more welcoming.Good value buffet meals.

We booked into this hotel for the final three days of our Portugal holiday having spent ten days in the Algarve. We were very impressed overall once we got settled into our room. We booked in for three nights over the weekend. The double room (ave size) with twin beds pushed together, and bathroom (decent size), were very clean. House keeping was very good. The size did not bother us as we were only sleeping there. The location was excellent - just 150m north of the main square in the Baixa district. Walking to anywhere in the whole downtown area was very easy. We were 15/20 mins from the waterfront at a leisurely stroll. Staff were excellent and very helpful with advice and checking our flight details for the journey home. Full marks for them. The breakfast buffet provided in the restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent and gave us a great start to the day. The restaurant itself, decorated in a modern style, offered a great value buffet dinner. We had planned to walk around the city but on the advice of the front desk staff we bought a two-day Yellow Bus Tour ticket. It was the best thing we could have done. We hopped on and off the bus at out leisure and saw a great deal of the city that we would not have seen by going on foot ourselves. Nor could we have driven anywhere in our rental car which we had arranged to return immediately after checking in - Lisbon is not a city that is tourist driver friendly. The two bus tour loops divided the city into halves, east and west. We did each loop on separate days. The Yellow Bus Tour ticket also provided us with regular tram/bus access which we were able to use when visiting the Castelo. This saved a tough uphill walk - another good piece of advice from the front desk. The views from the castle walls were spectacular not to mention the castle itself. The only minor negative - we were fronting the street and it was somewhat noisey late on the Friday night around midnight.

The breakfast was excellent. A large amount of food and different types was available. We didn't eat lunch after the huge breakfast. The room and bathroom are larger than other rooms we had in Portugal. It is centrally located. We stayed twice a week apart. The first bathroom didn't have a shower curtain, and a strong smell of sew gas. I don't think the waste pipes were vented. We just kept the bathroom door closed and it was fine. The other bathroom was good.

Excellent value for money. Very basic but ideal for a cheap but centrally located hotel. If you just want somewhere clean safe and close to old Lisbon sights without spending a fortune this is an excellent choice. We had breakfast included which made it even more value for money. Great hotel right off the main square and close to all facilities and shops, tourist attractions and public transport. Perfect location for tourists. Rooms are huge (especially after staying in Paris) and basic but clean and comfy. Staff were very knowledgeable, willing to help, and like everyone we met in Lisbon very friendly. We think that the best aspect of the hotel was the staff. They went out of their way to be helpful and to make our stay enjoyable. We asked if certain rooms were quieter than others and the staff changed our room from the front to the back of the hotel. They also recommended some great restaurants. In a touristic area, it is not always evident to find a good place to eat. We would highly recommend this hotel to our family, friends and for our future Lisbon vacations, we would return there.

This hotel is *fantastic*. The location is right on the main "food alley", and a block from the main train station. It's easy walking distance to the water, the castle, tons of bars and pubs, the port-tasting place, and more. The bed was comfortable, the shower was small but sufficient, and the bathroom was a reasonable size. The staff was friendly and helpful and there's wireless throughout the whole building. My only complaint was the wireless was pretty flaky, but other than that, everything was great. And for the budget price, you cannot beat this place.

Very central location on pedestrianised street with lots of restaurants. A couple of minutes walk from the airport bus stop. Only a few minutes from Rossio station or the Elevador da Gloria or Elevador de Santa Just to take you up the the old town. Walls are thin so you can hear other residents. For a short 'city break' the Hotel Residencial Florescente could hardly be better situated. Close to trams, metro, buses, and a taxi rank -plus literally dozens of restaurants - its location is great. Trade off? A little early morning street noise, but nothing too disturbing, plus the fact that the street is a pedestrian zone after 11.00am, so you may have to walk a couple of hundred metres or so (with your luggage) when arriving or leaving. I hadn't spotted (stupid of me!)that there was no bar at the hotel - but there are plenty within a couple of hundred metres. The reception staff were extremely helpful throughout our three day stay, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this reasonably priced property, which also offered a good serve-yourself continental breakfast.

I often stay in economy hotels in different places in Europe. I dont think I have stayed in a hotel better than this one considering the cost. The room was very very clean and neat. The location is pretty much near the center. Its placed in a street full of restaurants. And decent breakfast. It is real value for money.

I travelled with 3 friends of mine, we took a triple and a single room. Everything was fine, both with rooms and breakfast (very good and with a wide choice of food and drinks). The hotel is in the city center, very close to metro, bus and tramway stops. Strongly advised!

There was a smelly and noisy exhaust right outside our windows, but with the double glazing it was fine. Position is excellent, right in the town center. Private parking is availabe, but complicated...

Nice place, well centered, noisy on Saturday but it's normal considering the location of the hotel. Maybe the owner should perform better windows regarding the noise. Generally speaking the ratio price/quality is positive. I recommend this hotel.

spotless hotel both in public areas and our room. very helpful staff on local attractions and access to wireless internet. our room was on the front of the hotel and contrary to others comments, was very quite. Cool november evenings may have kept late night traffic down. overall, recommended and would stay there again.

My room was right opposite the kitchens so rather noisy with windows open so had to use air-con. Otherwise everything was very satisfactory.

Size of rooms seemed to vary - ours was quite large. Room was clean but carpet badly stained. Excellent location, huge range of restaurants and transport very close.

I read a review before I booked this hotel which said that the best place for a quiet room was at the back of the hotel due to the surrounding area so that is what I requested, and no noise problems! The hotel was perfect;clean great location, really good friendly and helpful staff, and of course good value. The room was small but that is why the price was cheap-so no complaints at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as the location is great. Would go again tomorrow if I had the money!!

The whole experience prior to arriving in Lisbon was excellent. Because I was arriving in Lisbon at 10pm I was concerned about a late check-in and corresponded directly with the hotel. I also explained that I was concerned about the Aerobus operating at that time of night. They assured me it did but that there was also the option of a taxi. All of this I knew, however because the Aerobus listed this hotel as being on its route I took this option. Imagine my horror when the bus deposited me in Lisbon central at midnight with all my luggage (2 suitcases & handluggage as per US allowances!)...nowhere near the hotel. I tried to phone the hotel using the number provided but was told that this was not a number in use. I EVENTUALLY managed to get a passer-by to give me directions. On arriving at the hotel I was left to struggle up the front steps with my luggage through a front door that would not stay open - all the while being OBSERVED by an employee!! No help was offered at all. This ruined my stay at this very nice hotel which is actually situated in a great restaurant/tourist area. Unfortunately the next day I had to repeat my near impossible walk ...uphill on cobble stone streets ...with luggage ...back to the bus stop! Why take the bus again you might ask? Well when asking the front desk to call me a taxi I was informed that they only operated in the area until 11am after which it became a pedestrian area! Perhaps they could have informed me of this the night before - or is that expecting too much customer service excellence?? The front desk were *kind enough* to tell me how to find the bus stop for my return trip to the airport. Yet again, they just watched as I struggled to exit through their front door! I was not made to feel welcome in this hotel; I shall most certainly NOT be returning!

Fully renovated 19th century building in the center of the center of Lisbon. At very short walking distance from the Renovadores stop of the cheap airport bus, from the Renovadores and Rossio underground stations, from the Rossio railways station (half an hour local train to Cintra) and from the Figueira Square (tourist buses to Belem and sightseeing Lisbon). Happily the window panels are sound-proof and there is good air conditioning, because Rua das Portas do Sao Antao is full of small restaurants and night life, very good if you are in, less good if you had to sleep without good sound-proofing. The staff has the special kindness of most Portuguese people: if they are able to find you a car to rent in Lisbon the 1st August they are able to do everything for you.

This was the WORST night sleep I ever had (3 terrible nights). The bed was hard as a rock and we had a room on the 1st floor facing the street...which was the "eating lane" in Lisbon, next to some kind of concert hall. Lound noise and music all hours of the night, well into the morning. We asked to be moved, but the hotel would not accommodate us.

Perfect location, nice building, spacious rooms, very clean, friendly and helpful staff... I'd recommend this place to everyone who visits Lisbon. There was just one small problem - the noice from the main street. Therefore, if your room faces the street, go to the pharmacy just infront of the hotel and buy a pair of ear-tampons. This is exactly what we did after the first night and then our stay was excellent.

We were thrilled with the accomodation - medium sized double room, large en suite bathroom - all very clean. Our room overlooked the pedestrian street below, but noise was not a factor. It's very central and close to Rossio Square and all the shops and restuarants, buses, trams, metro etc.

Nicely located, one can reach most sights on foot and for the ones which are not so close, the metro stop is just a few steps away. Rooms are not that big but overall clean and nicely organized. As pointed by other reviewers, breakfast is nothing great and the juice is indeed watery. For breakfast one gets: (watery) juice, coffee, milk, yoghurt, two types of cereals, ham, salami, cheese, butter, marmelades and bread. Rooms facing the main street can be a bit noisy but nothing that disturbed our sleep (I was on the third floor though).
