I read a review before I booked this hotel which said that the best place for a quiet room was at the back of the hotel due to the surrounding area so that is what I requested, and no noise problems! The hotel was perfect;clean great location, really good friendly and helpful staff, and of course good value. The room was small but that is why the price was cheap-so no complaints at all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as the location is great. Would go again tomorrow if I had the money!!

It is an excellent place to stay in central Lisbon. It is a bit expensive.

The whole experience prior to arriving in Lisbon was excellent. Because I was arriving in Lisbon at 10pm I was concerned about a late check-in and corresponded directly with the hotel. I also explained that I was concerned about the Aerobus operating at that time of night. They assured me it did but that there was also the option of a taxi. All of this I knew, however because the Aerobus listed this hotel as being on its route I took this option. Imagine my horror when the bus deposited me in Lisbon central at midnight with all my luggage (2 suitcases & handluggage as per US allowances!)...nowhere near the hotel. I tried to phone the hotel using the number provided but was told that this was not a number in use. I EVENTUALLY managed to get a passer-by to give me directions. On arriving at the hotel I was left to struggle up the front steps with my luggage through a front door that would not stay open - all the while being OBSERVED by an employee!! No help was offered at all. This ruined my stay at this very nice hotel which is actually situated in a great restaurant/tourist area. Unfortunately the next day I had to repeat my near impossible walk ...uphill on cobble stone streets ...with luggage ...back to the bus stop! Why take the bus again you might ask? Well when asking the front desk to call me a taxi I was informed that they only operated in the area until 11am after which it became a pedestrian area! Perhaps they could have informed me of this the night before - or is that expecting too much customer service excellence?? The front desk were *kind enough* to tell me how to find the bus stop for my return trip to the airport. Yet again, they just watched as I struggled to exit through their front door! I was not made to feel welcome in this hotel; I shall most certainly NOT be returning!

Fully renovated 19th century building in the center of the center of Lisbon. At very short walking distance from the Renovadores stop of the cheap airport bus, from the Renovadores and Rossio underground stations, from the Rossio railways station (half an hour local train to Cintra) and from the Figueira Square (tourist buses to Belem and sightseeing Lisbon). Happily the window panels are sound-proof and there is good air conditioning, because Rua das Portas do Sao Antao is full of small restaurants and night life, very good if you are in, less good if you had to sleep without good sound-proofing. The staff has the special kindness of most Portuguese people: if they are able to find you a car to rent in Lisbon the 1st August they are able to do everything for you.
USA, Jul 2009
This was the WORST night sleep I ever had (3 terrible nights). The bed was hard as a rock and we had a room on the 1st floor facing the street...which was the "eating lane" in Lisbon, next to some kind of concert hall. Lound noise and music all hours of the night, well into the morning. We asked to be moved, but the hotel would not accommodate us.

Perfect location, nice building, spacious rooms, very clean, friendly and helpful staff... I'd recommend this place to everyone who visits Lisbon. There was just one small problem - the noice from the main street. Therefore, if your room faces the street, go to the pharmacy just infront of the hotel and buy a pair of ear-tampons. This is exactly what we did after the first night and then our stay was excellent.

The room are not clean and there where a big hall on the ground under the carpet in front of the path room and the hotel is not quite at allllll my room was in front of the service room and the women working in cleaning were so noisy since 9 in the morning i couldnt sleep but in the other hand the aria where the hotel is located is so great more than great, nice restaurants nice street and so near to the center and the nice things to see in Lisbon

We were thrilled with the accomodation - medium sized double room, large en suite bathroom - all very clean. Our room overlooked the pedestrian street below, but noise was not a factor. It's very central and close to Rossio Square and all the shops and restuarants, buses, trams, metro etc.

Nicely located, one can reach most sights on foot and for the ones which are not so close, the metro stop is just a few steps away. Rooms are not that big but overall clean and nicely organized. As pointed by other reviewers, breakfast is nothing great and the juice is indeed watery. For breakfast one gets: (watery) juice, coffee, milk, yoghurt, two types of cereals, ham, salami, cheese, butter, marmelades and bread. Rooms facing the main street can be a bit noisy but nothing that disturbed our sleep (I was on the third floor though).

During my stay in Portugal, I was pick pocketed probably on Tram #28 near the Se Cathedral. The staff could not have been more helpfull and understanding. They helped me get into my locked luggage which had my other wallet by cutting the lock. They were extreamly helpfu;; all week with directions and when I had problems with the lobby computer. I would highly recommend this hotel for it's location, breakfast, and staff.

The hotel was surprisingly quite given it's convenient location on the "eating lane". Our room was spacious enough with a huge bathroom. The window opened onto an air shaft and next time I would ask for a different room as several opened onto an internal courtyard with a better view. The staff could have been more welcoming but they answered all our questions and were helpful when we asked. The breakfast was great (except for the juice which was more like tang). Hotel is very convenient - a couple of blocks from the train station, information office and the trams. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants on the eating lane(except for the chicken place on a side street) as we were previously burned by eating at these types of restaurants. Instead we found a couple of inexpensive "local" restaurants on Rua Gloria) which runs into the street where the tram to the Bairio Alto goes.

Nice and modern hotel located in the main street of restaurants and bars, in the middle of the city centre. Rooms and bathrooms spacious and clean, silent during the night time. The welcoming was professional and friendly: we had to cancel the reservation of one single room but we were not charged of any penalty, even if we did not informed the hotel in advance. Rich and varied buffet for breakfast. Very good prices, related to the quality of the hotel!

the first night i couldnt sleep at all due to a very strong light pointed directly to my window.at three o clock in the morning,i finally asked for it being shut, which they finally did.apparently this light is there to "embellish" the hotels front...the second night we asked for another room, and they changed it for another who was bigger and more expensive, but they kept the original price, wich was,by the way,not cheap, just right.the personnell was rather nuce, and the breakfast just ok.

A quiet and convenient hotel right in the centre of Lisbon on a pedestrianised street. Our Triple room was roomy and great value. Excellent value for money - only 40 euros bed & breakfast for single occupancy of double room. Well placed in busiest part of Lisbon - lots of eating places (mainly outside) just outside hotel. Metros within 3 mins walk. Staff really helpful & cheerful. Very clean. Air con worked. Only complaint was the corridors are tiled, not carpetted, and on last night a woman running up & down in high heels at 12.30 - 13.30 woke me up twice. Ask for a room away from the main street.

We had bad luck and got probably the worst room in the hotel - the others looked much better. Room was spacious and well equipped but everything was quite old. Room required renovation (dirty walls, dirty carpet). Towels were changed every day but were quite spotty; hairs in bathroom. Nasty smell in bathroom. Extremely noisy. Breakfast was OK. Perfect location!!!! I would expect something better for this money.

We had a great stay at the Florescente and Lisbon overall. The hotels central location is ideal for all the sights and night life. Its situated on a busy pedestrian street with restaurants and Ginja bars so when leaving the hotel you are right in the mix of it. Our room was on the 6th floor so there was no problem with street noise. The breakfast included was good (rolls, a fine selection of meats, cheese… etc)

Great option of staying in Lisbon. Room (302) was bigger than I expected when I had seen the pictures. There was a tub in the bathroom;the room and everything were quite clean. Breakfast was ok for me (I mean, I'm not used to have those american or english breakfasts, but what is offered is enough for me).Location is close to metro stations (Restauradores or Rocio) and half-way between Alfama and Bairro Alto. Close to many restaurants and Armazens do Chiado which is sort of a shopping mall.People from reception desk was always ready to serve. Definitely I would stay at Residencal Florescente again!

Great hotel for such a good price. No complaints whatsoever. The room & bathroom are clean and our three person room was spaceous. The exterior of the hotel may not be to enticing, but once you enter you'll find that it is a nice quaint and clean hotel. The front staff are professional (one gentleman is exceptionally kind)and are always willing to answer questions. Much better service than the more expensive hotel that I stayed in while in Barcelona (Hotel Colon). Central location within walking distance to all of the tourist and popular areas. If I were to travel to Lisbon again, I would definately choose this hotel!

First of all, the location is great. Just where we hoped to be. Secondly, the staff at reception were terrific. We arrived after an all night flight very early, much earlier than normal check in time, and we were allowed to check in at that time (around 8:30 am). The room was more than adequate for the price and breakfast was also, more than adequate. Overall, I recommend this property.

Is very well localted, in just center of city and is possible to go walking to all important places, and stores, a lots of restaurants. Lovely hotel in a nice pedestrian street, many restaurants and the casa do Alentejo Traditional house (no. 58, don't miss) the Hard Rock café is just near the corner – important if you take a tour with Inside tours (pick-up) point. Just off Restauradores metro stop (2 minutes), near the Tourist information, near Tram no. 28 to Alfama district (Martin Monitz) and the 15 tram to Belem. The hotel itself is a jewel – the décor – furniture, paintings by Silva Viera capturing urban motives. I asked for a quiet room and got one. I couldn't choose better.

Overall we would definitely recommend the hotel - the best things about the hotelare the fantastic location right in the centre and the overall standard of cleanliness. However, the 'welcoming staff' must have been off during our stay as we were greeted at checkin with a lot of head shaking and tutting as the receptionist tried to secure the room we had booked. This is an excellent and price worthy location for a city trip to Lisbon.

Hotel is in an excellent position in Lisbon. Close to Metro, restaurants, Rossio station. Very near stops for Airport bus in Restoradores square. My room (a single)was at the back of the hotel and small but all I needed and excellent value for 45 euros a night. Renovation work was taking place next door until approx. 6.30/7.00 each evening which was noisy and annoying after a hot day in the city! Excellent location - and about a 3 minute walk from the Aerobus drop point in the Rossio square. Hotel very clean, only complaint about my room - tight squeeze at bottom of bed as one visitor has already mentioned. No noise problems although my room was not at front of building. Breakfast is a bit basic, but bearing in mind the cost - overall very good value for money. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to stay in the centre of things.

I am a middle-aged female independent traveller who frequently visits cities for 1/2 weeks at a time and I always search the internet for a small, good-value hotel in a location close to main sights/transportation to visit out of town places of interest. This was my first visit to Lisbon and not only did I love the city but this hotel made it a truly wonderful holiday. I cannot fault it: the Receptionist who checked me in was particularly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay and all the staff were very friendly; the rooms and public areas were spotlessly clean with linen changed every day; the breakfast buffet included ham and cheese which is good for Southern Europe; the location was absolutely perfect, and there is a theatre next door which was playing Jesus Christ Superstar but it was still so peaceful I was able to keep my balcony doors open all night and slept so well. I cannot believe I found such a good hotel for the price!!

we were 3 ladies (different ages) and spent 3 days in Lisbon. The hotel was a very nice surprise. 2' walk from Rossio and Restauradores,Hard Rock cafè, Gloria and Sta Justa elevators, trams and buses.Room was inside, had 3 single beds with enough space for all of us, bathroom was brand new, with bath, soft towels. It has a souvenir shop inside, a vending machine with soft drinks, water, snacks, a public toilet even better than the bathroom we had. I would definitely return there and recommend it.And suggest to taste the Ginjinha in a small shop right before the Rossio!Very important: the airbus from the airport is stopping right in the back in Restauradores, 9th stop.

I had a great stay in Lisbon, mostly thanks to the wonderful service received at the Residêncial Florescente. I would highly reccommend this hotel, very central and the staff is very polite.

The hotel is situated on a busy pedestrian street, and it is opposite a theatre, so if you have a room on the front of the hotel it gets quite noisy around midnight, and I also was woken up each night around 2am by the noisy street cleaning vehicles. I had a room with ensuite, but please note that not all rooms are ensuite, and some do not have windows (I am not sure if those types of rooms can be booked through venere.com). My room was very small, but it was clean, and perfectly ok for a short city visit.

It was a wonderful location. The hallways were very narrow...probably too small for those with weight challenges or wheelchairs. The carpets were very dirty...but the overall room cleanliness was positive. I would definately stay here again. I would also book through Venere again...very high quality choices, prices and customer service.

It was a short stay, and the Florescente delivered. It was close to the sights, and had lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Transport too was easy, as the metro, buses and trams were within a few minutes' walk. I would recommend this hotel, and would stay again.

This hotel is clean, with good service. The bathroom in my room was large and clean. The only complaint was that there was not enough room to get past the bed to get to the bathroom and I always hit myself getting by.
