CHECK AVAILABILITY

Consider the Residencial Portuense hotel when you are comparing Baixa, Lisbon 2-star hotels. This affordable family hotel has an excellent location in downtown Lisbon, within walking distance of Restauradores Square.

Residencial Portuense was recently renovated to provide visitors to Lisbon with clean rooms at a reasonable price. The front desk is open 24 hours a day and the staff can assist you with wake-up calls, arranging taxis or hiring cars, foreign currency exchange, and use of the hotel’s safety deposit box. Guests can access the internet for free near the reception area through a cable or through a wireless hotspot. A continental breakfast is served each morning in the simply furnished breakfast room. There is also a hotel bar.

Located in the Lisbon city center, called Baixa (the low area) or sometimes the Pombaline Baixa, the hotel is 1 block east of the Avenida da Liberdade, behind the Modernist Condes Cinema building (now home to the Hard Rock Cafe of Lisbon). Just to the south of the hotel is Restauradores Square, surrounded by 19th- and early 20th-century buildings, such as the Palácio Foz and the old Éden Cinema with its Art Deco façade from the 1930s, now a hotel. The Restauradores station for the Blue Line of the Lisbon Metro subway and the Rossio Railway Station (formerly called Estação Central or Central Station) offers easy access to attractions all over Greater Lisbon.

Excellent place for a visit in Lisboa even you hear loud neighbours very clearly and the breakfast is simple. But the staff is very helpful and you are in the heart of the city.

This hotel is located in a great area of Lisbon, walking distance to many, many things. It is located on a street that has many restaurants as well as this entire Baixa area. I walked all over Lisbon and it would be difficult to get lost in this area. The owner family was kind, polite, helpful, and the sons speak fluent English which was a godsend for me. When I needed a taxi, they called & the taxi arrived within 5 minutes. When I needed to join a walking tour, they called & took care of details. The best thing about this hotel is the family that owns it, but the hotel is excellent also. I highly recommend it especially to solo travelers who may need extra help. I will most likely stay at this hotel again if and when I re-visit Lisbon.

As my impression was the first time I stayed at Pensao Residencial Portuense(in February), my impression is the same after my second stay now (in July). Pensao Residencial Portuense is a charming and competent run accommodation, reasonable prized, with a warm welcoming, serviceminded, sympathetic (and humorous) staff, sober and clean rooms and public areas, simple, but nice breakfast and an excellent location. In other words you get "all inclusive". My warmest recommendation!

We like the hotel, and would stay here again. Portuguese, in general, are friendly and helpful. Police on the street and employees in the metro speak English very well. Just be careful when you use public transportation like tram.

Great budget hotel in the heart of Lisbon, one block back from the square and main avenue, great location, can walk everywhere. Front desk staff were very friendly. Only suggestion would be to skip the free breakfast which is only coffee and buns, go to a local cafe and get a great cheap breakfast.

Wonderfully located within easy walking distance of old city sights and commercial centre. Is located just beyond the pedestrian and restaurant area on cobbled streets.  Very easy to find from metro.  Very friendly, efficient and helpful staff.  Pleasant lobby - is the only place from which you can access internet which was only irregularly working.  Room was very clean, fairly basic furnishings, reasonably  large with view over neighbouring roofs and street.   Fairly quiet at night due to double glazing.   However some internal noise due to echo of wood floors and neighbouring door fittings. Basic continental breakfast was fresh.  Very good value.

Friendly and accommodating staff, clean room, tremendous location; all to the total amount of 136€ for four nights (low season)-what more can you ask for! On the negative side, as one reviewer just has commented, it was a bit embarrassing having to ask for toilet paper at the reception twice. But it's only a trifle; over all it was an excellent stay, I wish I could go back to Lisbon and Pensao Residencial Portuense already tomorrow.

Overall an excellent choice. Very close to the main attractions in Lisbon, awesome tradeoff between price and quality. On the negative side I could mention that it was a bit embarrassing having to ask for toilet paper one day at the reception (I think the cleaning staff forgot to replace it) and the small size of the public area. Nevertheless, I would definitely stay there again.

'Don't judge a book by it's cover' from the outside this place looks very down-market, but inside it's clean, comfortable and ideal for a city break... The staff were really friendly and very helpful. The continental breakfast was simple but very nice and the coffee was excellent! The was also a well stocked vending machine for cold drinks and nibbles Really good value, won't hesitate to recommend to friends and family

Was told not to turn the aircon above 22 celsius, as the air conditioner would leak water if turned higher. That needs to be fixed as the customer shouldn't have to suffer in a warm room because of a leaking air conditioner. Breakfast, which was included in our room price, was dismal. A few breads, juice, jams, butter, coffee and tea. Wifi did not reach the rooms, and even in the public area, wifi was not reliable. The electrical outlets in our room was awful. We had to be given an extension cord to run across the room in order to be able to charge our camera/phones, as the outlets behind the bed looked like they had been hotwired together, which hopefully someday doesn't catch fire!

This is a nice basic hotel near the center of the Baixa downtown area. It's close to the air bus stop. The rooms are basic and clean, just big enough for a bed. It's on a nice side street, which a few blocks away is known for a row of seafood restaurants. It's within walking distance of all the sites. Breakfast is pretty basic. A good value in a good location.

The hotel is conveniently placed, close to the city centre with easy access to public transport and a wide varity of restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful with at least one member speaking excellent English. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast is adequate, standard continental with very good brown rolls. This is a 'no frills hotel' but it is good value and we would certainly choose to stay there again.

We were here for 3 nights in June and were very satisfied with this hotel. Location is perfect close to major sights, trams and the train station and a safe place to walk at night. It is on a quiet street and the hotel has double glass windows so it is quiet at night. You could hear the sounds in the next room and when people walk in the hallway but it was not that disturbing. The room (which has airconditioning)and bathroom were clean and we had a small balcony with a nice view. Breakfast is simple but enough. The staff who speaks good English was very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of information. Plenty of restaurants and stores close by. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel at a good location with clean, quiet rooms and friendly staff, then we would recommend this hotel.

Hotel Portuense was good value. Rooms were clean, surrounding area was a bit blighted...lots of graffiti, but in easy walking distance to bus/tram, metro, and train stations. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. The day attendant called us a cab to the airport, then intervened when we left our camera in the cab...even had the cab return to meet us at the airport to retrieve the camera. Definitely top-notch service!

Perfect location just outside the main tourist restaurant drag, but already fairly quiet. Very convenient for exploring the city by foot and public transportation, just 200 m from the airport bus stop at Restauradores. Breakfast is simple (coffee/tea/cocoa powder, (sort of) juice, rolls, butter, jam, processed cheese, buns), but adequate. Our room had some background smell of urine that persisted even after removing the small carpets. Clean and well functioning bath room. Tip: get a public transport ticket (nearest at Metro Restauradores), charge it up (for several trips), and explore the city cheaply and conveniently, from lifts up the steep hillsides to the bargain suburban train ride to Estoril and Cascais. If you rode into town on the AeroBus, the same (€ 3.50) ticket is valid for 24h on all local public transportation - get going!

Stayed for two nights, hotel staff were extremely friendly and a wealth of knowledge. Hotel is near the shuttle bus from airport drop off point Restauradores, behind the Hard Rock Cafe. A little hard to find since the building blends in with the surroundings (even though it's blue) lots of places to eat nearby, with the usual tourist-y welcomers beckoning you in. Room was spotless, shower had great water pressure, the only complaints were that the wifi only seemed to work from the lobby/breakfast area (I was on the second floor) and that the toilet is set up to face the narrow bathroom wall in such a way that if I were 6 foot or above my knees would be against my chest. No safe in room, so just make sure you lock your valuables in your luggage if you're paranoid like me. Location is perfect for walking around and seeing the sites

This is a very nice little place and good value. Location is on a street with a lot of little shops but where it gets very narrow and there is little traffic and noise. Yet it is right near two different Metro lines and close to the main part of the city. The hotel day-person is fluent in English and very friendly. The evening person does not speak English too well but is not less friendly. Rooms are small but mine had a foyer area with a little desk and several windows and for the price the value is great. Breakfast is minimal -- rolls, jam, coffee/tea and juice -- but again, my rate was very inexpensive.

My husband and I stayed at Portuense for 3 days, returning from the Algarve. We loved our stay, the staff was friendly and prompt, offering local information and even guide books to help us through Lisbon. The residence is next to an area of restaurants that can get animated at night but the distance is good enough that we did not have any disturbance yet we were steps away from all kind of inviting eateries. I would mostly recommend the Casa Alentejana, with a beautiful Moorish interior, great service and delicious food. And all at a very good price!

Wonderful, caring, informative and helpful owner /staff made this a memorable stay. Felt like I was staying with friends. A nice job of combining "modern" features while retaining the ambiance of the historic building and area. Excellent location; felt very safe; clean, comfortable room with modern bath (great shower), AC, TV, phone, a large window that open to the sights and sounds of Lisbon, continental breakfast area that has wifi access. A small gem of a hotel but the real treasure is the owner and his family that make it all work.

We had reserved a twin room, but there was only a single room on the list. However, we got a 4-bed room looking at the backyard. We had hoped to have a room towards the street with a French balcony. Excellent breakfast and very friendly personnel. You should inform that the hotel credit card machine does not communicate with the Finnish credit cards. The hotel has an excellent location right in the centre with good connections everywhere. I'd like to come back.
