Cheap hotel in a central location. Quiet. Shower hose was broken. All in all a very good price for a central hotel in a European capital.

There was a smell of drains in the hotel when we arrived - not a good introduction. The room had the same aroma about it. Very small lift starting on first floor - lots of steps, would not recommend for unfit or elderly visitors.

The wifi service described as available on each room is available ONLY at the reception, there is a very small room without privacy and confortable place where to work or chat/phone on web. The hotel is good enough for a short leisure holiday, particurarly beacuse it's very closed to center, but nothing more.

We book hotels mainly based on the reviews. Although most of the reviews were very positive it was very cheap so we were not expecting a lot.We were very pleasantly surprised, the room was more than big enough, very clean as was the bathroom, no bad smells as some reviews have said. Cannot comment on breakfast as we overslept & missed it. Perfectly located for lots of shops & restaurants Only downside, room was a little bit cold when we first arrived & we couldn't get the air con to switch to warm air. But overall very happy with our stay & would go back again

The hotel is very well located and this is the only positive aspect. The internet wifi connection is only available at the reception (no connection in the rooms niether in the breakfast area). At our arrival we got a very tiny and stinky room under the roof with only a small skylight (n°502). Not the room they shows on their website at all!! We asked several times for a new room and we finally got one. it was better but : very small, a tiny windows, very noisy (thin walls separating the room from the corridor), we had to ask for more (cleans) towels and shower gel, it was not possible to held the hand-held-shower (broken). We are globally disappointed about the quality of the provided services (we expected a 4 stars hotel and it is definitely not). Overall, not expensive for the location but don't expect a 4 stars standard!

Great location near all the plazas, sights & eating places. Restaurants next door. Major problem is antiquated small lift breaks down often. Also will not work if clients forget to close collapsible door. Lift only starts from first floor above reception. Reception one floor up from street. Therefore need to lug luggage up one flight of stairs to reception & two flights for every floor if lift breaks down. Also two flights to use lift. This is THE reason I will not use this hoitel again. No WIFI in rooms.

Internet is available only in the bar area and can be quite noisy if other people there. Staff advised us to park outside and our rental car was towed and cost us 123 euro to get back. Day staff very friendly, nice staff rude and only interested in helping people in bar to earn tips, ignores people waiting for their keys until she finishes in bar.

We stayed here as a group of 8 guys with 4 twin bedded rooms. Excellent quite location with Rossio square just round the corner and view of the castle. Some rooms had small toilet (5th floor) but rest were OK. The lift is small (says 4 person but 2 were OK) and only goes from 1st to 5th floor. This was excellent value for money for so close to the centre (easy walk) and clean and nicely decorated. We would stay here again.

The hotel is very central and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Decor is a bit dated, but it's all clean and the rooms are a decent size. Breakfast comprises cereals, yogurts, a changing biscuit/cake selection, bread, hams, cheese, croissants, etc. My only gripe was that there was no fresh fruit for breakfast - only tinned fruit. Everything else was great though, so not a big issue. I would stay here again.

Traveled as a couple - great place for us! May be less suitable for elderly people or families with small kids: Small elevator, which doesn't start at ground floor. Then again, if you're not into walking and climbing stairs, Lisbon may not be ideal for you ;-) We enjoyed our air conditioned double room, good continental breakfast, friendly staff and the cool location right between the lower part of the old town and the Alfama/Castle hill districts. 5 mins to the Metro and Trams.

We liked the location of the hotel very central, the nice and spacious room, the braekfast included. We liked less the welcoming of all the hotel staff not very helpful neither smiling. One thing was really weird: even if you put the "Do not disturb" card on the door, the cleaning ladies came in twice in the room while we were in!!! To end with, hookers in the hotel street.

We were first time visitors to Portugal and had 4 nights at the Alcobia at the end of our 3 weeks trip. On arrival, the working girls at the entrance and a rather grumpy gentleman at reception did not auger well. But I did remember reading of the former in one of the reviews and came to see it all as an added interest, and two very helpful women also worked at the desk. The Pension is excellently located, our room was good and the limited breakfast space meant that we shared tables with charming fellow guests from a range of places. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Very nice hotel and central location. The street is not nice with prostitutes near the hotel door. The breakfast room was too small for all the people. I had made another reservation for this hotel only for one night after visiting other parts of Portugal and my reservation was confirmed by the person who was in the reseption when we left. When we returned we had no room. They sent us in another hotel of the same property (Recidencial Roma), but the hotel was not nice. I was very dissapointed for the other hotel.
