Very clean comfortable room & quiet at night. Staff friendly & helpful. Good breakfast for 5 euros. Hotel in local area within 10 mins walking distance from Rossio although it can be a steep climb back up the hill if the elevador isnot running.

Atmospheric building, much more interesting than a big block hotel (although if frills are more important take one of those). Personal care of reception staff was very nice. I had a large room (triple) on the 2nd floor for me alone. It was spartan in feel, which I liked, and so was the bathroom, but there the single sachet of shampoo could be improved... by supplying soap as well, for instance!

The location is great, on a relatively quiet street. The staff member available upon check-in was very friendly. Unfortunately the room that I was staying in did not resemble what I had seen online. Whether this is because the hotel is currently under renovation I do not know. Although the view was great (I was on the top floor), the paint peeling considerably from the wall over the bed (it looked like there was mold in the wall?). In terms of the furniture/facilities, the bed was not particularly comfortable, the light over the sink in the bathroom did not work, the towels had seen better days, and the water in the shower was ice cold. I think once renovations are finished that there will be a better match between price and quality.

Lavra is a fantastic guest house! we loved our stay there. the staff was super friendly and helpful, giving tips on restaurants etc. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and individually decorated, combination of modern and old fashioned. There's no breakfast but there were cheap cafes in the neighbourhood.

Lavra guest house must cater for some more facilities--even a glass of water is not possible since they have only those low grade plastic disposable glasses. i think they charge too much for a place like this --the room was decent -clean but there was nothing else. location is good but one definitely needs to be told to take a taxi from the airport or else it is difficult to reach as the ascent is too steep! one wants a cup of coffee / tea / cold drink but nothing is available not even for a price. we enjoyed the location as we were in the city centre & that enabled us to watch all the fun & be a part of the local crowd. the guest house would be a great place if they could provide us some facilities like soft drinks / hot drinks or at least keep some provisions like glasses & a kettle in the room for guest to make their own --its a small facility but very important.

The "lift" (small tramway) was under repair in May 09. So quite challenging to make the last hill after a long day ... but overall a very nice, very clean guesthouse. Myriam was extraordinarily friendly with a good sense of humour. We will be back there, for sure! For very early reseravations: Lavra has a penthouse!

Lavra Guest House is a former cloister and therefore an interesting and ancient house, nicely refurbished and with a great view if you get a room with a balcony. The service is friendly and the only thing I was a bit annoyed with was the black colour of the bathroom and the very poor quality of the beds. But in terms of the price and the service as well as the view you get for your money, these things are certainly tolerable.

It is a pity the room was not decorated in the lobby style. Actually the room we got (as requested on the last floor to have a city view) was tiny and would need some renovation as regards the paint and bathroom equipment. And the view was from the bathroom window.Rather dull room but nice staff.

I liked the Guest House Lavra however I think that style overcame some basic requirements in rooms - such as hooks for towels, bins etc. Also I think the Guest House is still in process of being renovated - public areas very good but rooms I think would vary. Good location, clean but more basic than had imagined. Also check out needs to be improved - had an early flight and the 8am reception promised was running late so we were very tight on time. Otherwise happy to recommend for a one or two night stay in residential area of Lisbon.

Clean rooms but very small bathrooms (not for pregnant women !) Receptionists all right as long as there's no problem : Had no bedside table lamps working, managed to get one eventually replaced, but all this done in a way to make me feel that I was a rather demanding customer to ask for such a "favour" ! The next day I asked the same receptionist for help to find a place to buy stamps and never got it ! I found this all rather unprofessional !

A nice, clean, small but sympathetic, modern-baroque and with a taste of Portuguese room....there is no elevator (i really don't mind about that) but i think the 4th floor rooms are not for disable, old people or stern with big suitcases girls...

The guest house is located quite in the center but on a hill so you should not be physically handicapped. The rooms are small but have a modern style. We had a nice little balcony with a great view! But there are no TV or radio (we didn't miss it, however). Not far from the place is a tiny supermarket and there are some small restaurants where a lot of locals spend there evenings and where you can have local food for a fair price and some good wine.

This guesthouse is clean, modern and centrally located. It is basic - you won't find any shampoo in the bathroom or a TV in the bedroom, but for the price it was an excellent bargain. It is located at the top of a brilliantly authentic, but rather steep road (not for the unfit, especially after a hearty meal and some drinking). They do serve breakfast (not included in the price), however we went out every morning - just a few steps down the road on the right hand side was a good snack bar to have some croissants and tea. When you arrive at the aiport ask the tourist information desk for a map and get the guy to point out the street, and he'll tell you which bus stop to get off at. Get on the aerobus and it's a pretty short, if somewhat steep, walk from the stop. If you've got some heavy suitcases it might be an idea to take a taxi.

The guest house can be highly recommended - it is situated in "real" Lisbon surroundings on the top of Lavra hill, in a nice old house. By foot or after a nice trip with the Lavra elevador you reach the city centre in 5 min. The staff is very friendly and every guest is welcomed with a glass of the famous Lisbon cherry liqueur .... Lavra guest house is the best place to stay while visiting wonderful Lisbon!

Very nice place to stay. It's well situated, near metros, but on top of a hill (restaurants are all down the hill, and it's very very hard to climb!) Hopefully there's a tramway, but it closes at 9:00 pm. Excellent breakfast in the "pastelaria" 10 meters down the street: very cheap, and very kind!
