The location of this hotel is excellent. A great boulevard crammed with cafes and restaurants under huge trees is just down the road. I might recommend the nearby restaurant O Mamma Mia. Yes it's Italian - fitting I suppose since it is near the Hotel Italia - but operated by a great Portuguese guy, Nuno. He's fluent in English, does the cooking, and the food is majorly great. Planes do fly overhead but not at night. The back of the hotel is joined to other buildings and creates a tunnel like amplified sound if anyone is in this confined space. Some young people were in that space the night we stayed and woke us up from time to time. We also stayed in a street facing room which is much better for being quieter. Also make sure you get a room with a bath and shower. One of the rooms we had just had a shower and it has to be one of the worse designs I've discovered. The flimsy shower curtain is no match for the water, and you can't turn around in the shower without hitting some part of your anatomy. After a shower, the floor and everything in the bathroom is soaked. We told reception we needed fresh towels because we used what we had to soak up the water. His reaction was not of surprise as if this is a regular occurrence and promptly gave us towels and toilet paper to replace what we had. Also be aware of the phone in the bedroom if you're placing a call outside because on the back of the bedroom door it says 30 cents. I placed a call to TAP in Lisbon and it cost me 12 Euros. The receptionist said calls were charged by sections of time and I was on hold for some time, but that's not how I interpreted the notice. Bit of a rip off I think. But overall I liked this hotel as long as you are aware of what to avoid.

The hotel is located less than 10 minutes by bus from the airport. Take the number 83 bus directly from outside the arrivals lounge and get off at Campo Pequeno. Only costs 1.75 euros and will save you a 15 euro cab ride. It's a short walk from the bus stop and also the metro which is excellent for travelling around the city. The Hotel itself is in a quiet area of town and a little hidden away in the back streets. It was very clean and the staff were very pleasant and helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast was normal continental buffet of bread and cereal with no hot options. Very clean rooms although the bed wasn't too comfy. Overall I'm happy with the hotel, but I paid a very expensive rate due to Man Utd playing Benfica and hotel rooms were at a premium. Probably twice as much as it was worth.

This hotel is OK for single traveller for a short time stay. Location is good and access to public transportation is convinient. However, the breakfast is minimum, and one of the staffs is not so helpful. And sometimes you can hear jet engine sound from the aeroplane flying (the Lisbon airport is very close to the city).

This hotel offers value for money. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The single rooms are small, but adequate, especially if you are a student or economy traveller. The neighborhood is quite nice, although a bit far from the center. I stayed only two days, because I needed to have access to my computer on a regular basis and the hotel does not have wiifi, only one accessible computer in the lobby. This is an ideal location for someone who wants good quality lodging at a low price.

I enjoyed very much my stay in "Residential Italia". It is 5 minutes walk far from the nearest metro station and other interesting places. Room was clean and comfortable. Every staff member was very kind. In front of the hotel there is a small supermarket too. I would recommend it to all my friends.

I recommend this hotel. I have stayed many other hotels at this price range in Europe and found this hotel worth staying again. The room is clean and has simple but enough facilities. And, what's more, the stuff are excellent. They can speak English, which seems to be a big advantage for travelers outside Europe, and are very kind. They kindly researved a fado house, recommended a good restaurant, and call a tax. If there is any disadvantage of this hotel, it might be access to the center of the city. it takes 10 min to the nearest metro station and 3-4 stations to the center of the city. I don't think it's a big problem but there are many other hotels at the center of the city at this price range. However, as a conclusion, I will stay this hotel again if I have a chance to visit Lisbon again. Thanks.

The hotel was very nice. My room was very clean and comfortable, although a little bit small. Staff was very competent and kind. They let me take the room before the check-in time, and they kept my suitcases for some hours after my check-out, and called a taxi for no additional price. Breakfast was ok. The only thing that I would add to the included facilities would be wireless internet access. The relation between price/quality was excelent.

During our stay an Italian school-group ("Nomen est omen.")stayed also in the hotel. They terrorized with noisy behaviour all the others guests - and the employees didn't do anything against them. From this point of view we can't recommend the hotel at all - the rest was okay.

Just about 10 min walk to the station. very calm area. hotel was clean, breakfast was ok. the room was just a bit loud because of the people walking on the upper floor all the time. the staff was friendly. Room is clean and ok, but is nothing special. The mattress was really hard. Aircondition worked fine. Quiet neighbourhood. Breakfast was nothing special, very little to choose from. Orange juice is just colored water, just tea or coffee of other drinks. The staff seemed uninspired. Bus or subway to downtown. Short walk to bus, about 10 minutes to downtown. About 10 minutes walk to subway, in the middle of 2 stops.

It is almost a capsule hotel. The whole place is not bigger than 12 sqm, including bathroom and closet. There is not even place to put down your bags. Very dark, no street windows, paper walls, very noisy from the neighbours. The location is fair, 10 min. walk from the closest underground station and four station from the heart of Lisbon. The staff is extremely helpful. It is pricey compare with quality.

I stayed at this hotel while in Lisbon for a conference. In my opinion it's great for that purpose - if you're intending to spend more time at the hotel itself it might not be quite what you're after, but for a place to sleep and to work it's good. The staff, if maybe not super-friendly, are definitely really professional and efficient. They speak very good English and gave me great transport info on request, and also fixed the toilet in my room (which wouldn't flush) straight after I reported the problem. The hotel is close to the stop for the airport bus (Avenida da Republica) and to the metro (Campo Pequeno), so it's very easy to get into the centre of Lisbon, and to the university. As a female single traveller I felt completely comfortable at this hotel. Be aware that if you arrive on Sunday the cafes in the hotel vicinity are all closed, but fortunately there's a Lidl right across from the hotel ;-).

Our room was small, but very clean, there was no kettle (this seems to be the case in most Portuguese Hotels) but the receptionist lady always provided us with a pot of boiling hot water for a hot drink. The room (we stayed in a double room) was quiet and simple, everything is in good working order. Good location. Continental breakfast (ham, cheese, jam, bread, rolls, tea, coffee, juice) all fresh and ok.

Great hotel. Nice and quiet and they met our request for a top floor balcony. Room was clean and roomy. If I was being hyper-critical I'd say that the room could have done with more "warmth": a few pictures on the walls; perhaps a rug for the cold floor. And, although the bathroom was large enough to accomodate a bath, strangely there wasn't one. Would've been nice to soak after climbing those hills. The location won't suit everyone but the public transport links were excellent, and the local pastelarias were welcoming and the food on a par with everywhere else we went in Lisbon (and beyond). One final point: the breakfast isn't so great. Go elsewhere for your morning coffee! Oh, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The bus stops are not far away and the metro is also accessible within some minutes. It is very convenient to reach from the airport. Firstly I would like to thank people working on a reception, who patiently explained to me everything and answered dozens of my questions :) Secondly, I would say, that location is quite nice, not the main center, but in correspondence to the price it is perfect, lots of buses, subway is near as well as one of the largest shopping center. Thirdly, the only thing i may point out is an uncomfortable douche - all water was on the floor... Best regards and enjoy Portugal =)

Rapporto qualità-prezzo eccellente.

During the first night I had troubles with the room because some nonpleasant smell coming out of the airconditioning system. Nevertheless the employees changed the room and everything went OK afterwards. The room was clean yet the only window, and the room itself, were a bit too small to be enjoyed withtout airconditioning. The hotel's neighborhood is fine. There are plenty coffeeshops and good restaurants offering good meals at reasonable prices. Regarding the breakfast at the hotel I would rate it as acceptable.

The "orange juice" was nothing but orange colored water. Very bad! The beds could have been better!

In generell the hotel was the way it was offered in the internet. Price was like mentioned and the e-mail from the hotel with comments how to find it in the city was very helpful. We stayed almost a week and we had luck to get one of the view rooms with balcony. It was to the back side. Unfortunately there where no chairs for the balcony. The rooms where very clean. In the first night we mentioned that you could hear every step from above us. The rooms have no carpet and that may be the reason for the noise. Nearby a new house was build (May 2006 started) and after 8:00 o'clock there was no possibility to sleep any longer. The breakfast is very simple. Every day the same kind of cheese, ham and jam. No chance of variety. Coffee (unfortunately Nescafe made) was not our taste. All in all it is not a bad place but for a longer stay I would wish a better standard for a quiet room and a better breakfast.

There was a lot of noise...precisely in our room! We had to change room beacause of that. 60 euros, that's very expensive when you can't sleep!!!

Rooms varied in size and quality but were all the same price. the smaller ones should have been cheaper. Beds were quite hard. Personnel and service were very friendly and very helpful.

My single room eas quite small with no view from the window. The shower in bathroom was not convenient. Breakfast was poor. But:room was clean, towels were changing every day. Reception is very helpful and polite, good english. It takes 10 min to get to the hotel from busstop. There are many buses going to the center. Or there is a metro. It's easy to get to/from airport. Just take bus 91(air bus) from the airport and take off at "Republica".

Buona colazione a buffet.

The few days that I stayed at this property, I must say this was much much better than I had expected. The price / quality parameter simply stood out as one of the best.

A great location, close to the Gulbunkian, underground and busses. We had some rather noisy tennants clomping above our ceiling all hours of the night but were able to change rooms after two nights. Otherwise we found the reception staff extremely helpful and the rooms more than adequate for our short stay.

In my opinion Residencial Italia has a good relationship between price/quality, although it has a poor breakfast. On the other hand, it has well location, that is, it is not so distance from turistic points or good shops.

An excellent stay - perhaps a little far from the centre for most people ( and a bit over zealous with the bleach and detergent ! - maybe try a more fragrant cleaning solution... ) but great value, close to metro, close to best department store and very friendly.

It was a great place to stay. Situated on a quiet street, fairly close to metro. We did'nt need to use our car. Parking is a problem. The service was good and english wasn't a problem. The rooms were on the small side but very clean.

Modernes Zimmer, alles vorhanden. Ruhig, ausser benachbartes Badezimmer.

Small hotell in quiet business area with nice breakfast. Approx 30-40 min. walk from the historical center and 10-15 min. walk to metro, so easiest with taxi (200m to taxi-stop). Various restaurants, kiosks and bar nearby. Not far to nearest shopping-mall!
