Beautifully located hotel. Very clean and nice inside and outside. Wonderful terrace in shade, with nice view over the town and water. Quiet.

A perfect place for rest, meditation, reading, painting, relax. A pleasant walk from the centre, enough to keep one active and away from traffic and tourist noises. Lots of ample terraces, covered and not, with wall seats, tables, easy chairs, open to use, each with a magnificent view. Traditional furniture in the rooms, wonderfully no television. Air conditioning on request, 5€ extra, but rarely necessary.

Precious views and surroundings. Quality of service could be improved. Not suitable for the impaired. Nevertheless a place I would return to with great pleasure.

The hotel is about 1/2 km from town. This is not specified clearly in the website. It is an uphill walk and quite a pain if you want to come and go to your room several times. I would have appreciated knowing this in advance. The website says they have air conditioning but you have to pay for that extra (10€ per day) and they turn off the airconditiong when they clean the rooms. You will need air conditioning because of the mosquitoes. The breakfast could be better. The owner is nice but his young inexperienced son is there most of the time. The grounds of the hotel were very nice but I was personally a bit dissappointed in my stay there.

The air conditioning was an extra 5 euros and the first room proposed was not en suite (the bathroom was in the adjacent corridor). But finally the room provided without argument was excellent.

Hotel Diana has superb views but do not stay there if you have any walking difficulties as there a number of steps. Very poor breakfast and an air of general unhelpfulness. Would not recommend a stay of more than a night!!Very disappointing place and would not recommend it.

The main thing Villa Diana has going for it is a beautiful location. Not far on foot from the main port, the hotel is situated on a small hill and offers terraces with a terrific view of the ocean and the citadella. The room we stayed in was what you expect from a 2-star property: a bit on the small side, no tv, no fridge, etc. For the price, however, there were some definite drawbacks. The breakfast is really pretty bad, with melba toast that I'm quite sure has been around since the Reagan years and packaged low-cost jams, juices, and so forth, all bought in bulk at the LidL or other bargain store. The family that runs the place was never anything but polite, but they did absolutely nothing to give us a sense of welcome or to make our stay easier or more pleasant. That is, they did the absolute minimum. I don't have any way to prove it, but I got the distinct impression, when I asked for a matrimoniale (double bed) during our check-in (and had to insist on it), that they were more than a little disconcerted by the idea of having a male couple and, as a result, treated us with particular coolness. The hotel's site on venere needs A DECENT MAP, because it is nearly impossible to find the place unless you know exactly where it is. Once we arrived, we had to call the hotel twice for directions and still had to stop and ask for additional information at a caffe` - the folks at the hotel were not helpful. Once you find Villa Diana, you realize that it's actually easy to get there, but the information on venere won't help you. A final complaint: There was a pretty gruesome smell coming from the bathroom/plumbing which was esp. bad when we came back to the hotel after the room had been closed up all day. In addition, there was some kind of water pump (to bring water up the hill, I imagine) that made a dreadful noise when it came on (briefly, but often) at all hours of the night.

Small hotel a short climb above the town. There are a number of steps up from the road, making it a little difficult if you're carrying heavy luggage. Fantastic views of the town and environs from the terrace. Short walk down to the town ( 5-10 minutes). Fascinating villa, with antiques and original paintings by artist Edwin Hunziger festoon the walls. No aircon or pool, but if you want 4-star multinational hotels, don't go to Lipari. Yet!!

Property is gorgeous! Rooms are beautiful! However, Shower water was cold, or quickly turned cold, so there wouldn't be enough hot water for two people to shower.

Although we initially took the bus to the villa, we were quite surprised by how near to the town centre it was actually situated (only a ten minute amble). The second surprise was the stunning location and the magnificent view from the room. Another point of interest was the fact that the villa belonged to a Swiss artist (Edward Hunziger) and his paintings adorn the entire building. Public areas are immaculately furnished and the entire layout of the property is delightful. The staff were extremely helpful and on hand if you needed them. A truly beautiful property in a magnificent quiet (But handy) location. highly recommended
